Pfarrkirchner Appell von neun Doktoren der Medizinwissenschaft

Nachdem Betreiberfirmen in Pfarrkirchen/Bad Hall Mobilfunksendeanlagen erweitern wollen haben sich in der 2100-Seelen-Gemeinde nun sieben Ärzte, ein Biologie-Universitätsprofessor und eine Psychologie-Neurologin zu einem Pfarrkirchner Appell zusammengeschlossen und fordern neben dem FREIBURGER Appell vom 9.10.2002, dem BAMBERGER APPELL vom 21.7.2004, dem HOFER APPELL vom 28.5.2005, dem LICHTENFELSTER APPELL vom 5.7.2005, der WARNUNG der WIENER Ärztekammer vom 5.8.2005 und der WARNUNG der österr. Ärztekammer vom 30.8.2005 nachdrücklich:

1.) Keinen weiteren Ausbau der Mobilfunktechnologie, denn es handelt sich um unfreiwillige Risiken für die Menschen mit wahrscheinlich dauerhaften gesundheitlichen Belastungen.

2.) Reduzierung der Funkbelastung für alle Sendeanlagen auf maximal 1 Mikrowatt pro Quadratmeter in Wohnräumen.

3.) Aufklärung der BürgerInnen, Jugendlichen und Kinder über die Benützung von Handys und Schnurlostelefonen und über die Gesundheitsrisiken des Elektrosmog.

4.) Kinder und Jugendliche sollten (unter 16 Jahren) Handys nur im Notfall benutzen.

5.) Bei aufgetretenen Schäden das Verursacherprinzip beachten.

Mehr als 1500 deutsche Ärzte, Fachärzte und Medizinprofessoren haben die obgenannten Appelle unterzeichnet. Die erfahrenen Mediziner beweisen eine signifikante Häufung folgender Krankheiten in der Nähe von Mobilfunksendeanlagen: Lern-, Konzentrations- und Verhaltensstörungen bei Kindern (Hyperaktivität); Blutdruckentgleisungen; Herzrhythmusstörungen, Herzinfarkte und Schlaganfälle immer jüngerer Menschen; Hirndegenerative Erkrankungen; Krebserkrankungen wie Leukämie und Hirntumore; Kopfschmerzen und Migräne; chronische Erschöpfung, innere Unruhe; Schlaflosigkeit und Tagesmüdigkeit, Ohrengeräusche, Infektanfälligkeit, Nervenschmerzen, etc.

Der Pfarrkirchner Appell schließt sich den genannten Appellen an, hält den weiteren Ausbau des Mobilfunknetzes für bedenklich und appelliert an Politiker, Wissenschaftler und Verantwortliche des Gesundheitswesens, dem im Grundgesetz garantierten Schutz von Leben und Gesundheit wieder den Vorrang einzuräumen.

Mobile phones can trigger eye damage, fear scientists

Prolonged use of mobile phones can lead to permanent eye damage including cataracts, scientists believe.

Medical researchers have found that microwave radiation of the type emitted by mobile phones causes eye tissue to "bubble" - a precursor to the formation of cataracts - and can also interfere with the ability to focus. Professor Levi Schächter, who led the Israeli team which conducted the study, warned: "Our results show that microwaves can cause irreparable damage. Our advice to people with mobile phones is not to use them if they have the option of using a land line until we can conduct more research."

The new findings will reignite the debate into the safety of mobile phones, after warnings from a Government minister earlier this year that parents should be "very careful" about how much time children spend talking on their handsets. More than 50 million mobiles are in use in Britain.

The new study, conducted by the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine at the Israel Institute of Technology, in Haifa, found clear risk to eyesight.

Scientists exposed lenses taken from male calves - whose eyes, until they are two years old, have close similarities to humans' - to mild heat, comparable to the raised temperature caused by extended mobile phone use, and to microwave radiation no greater than emissions from mobile phones. After two weeks the lenses, kept in a culture medium, were compared with others which had not been similarly exposed, to identify biological changes.

Prof Schächter's team found that the exposed lenses were less able to focus clearly on a beam of light, which would cause an eye to record a blurred image - but found that over time, when exposure stopped, the damage healed. However the exposure also caused bubbles to form within the tissue of the lens, which did not disappear over time - an indication of development of cataracts, or permanent eye damage.

Prof Schächter said: "There has been much research to determine whether mobile phones cause cancer or brain damage, but until now very little on their effects on vision."

Shortly after the study was published in the Journal of Bioelectromagnetics the authors were invited to present their findings to the Israeli parliamentary health committee. The country's health advisory body subsequently urged the Israeli government to fund more such studies.

Last year a major review by the International Commission for Non-Ionising Radiation of all published research concluded that there was "no consistent or convincing evidence of a causal relation" between mobile phone use and any adverse health effects.

However, the new findings have provoked consternation in Britain. Dr Michael Clark, a spokesman for the Health Protection Agency, said British researchers should broaden the range of possible dangers being investigated.

"This is a good piece of work that is properly published and we are looking at it carefully," he said. "If future research delivers the same or similar results then public health practices may need to be re-examined."

Schulen sollen handyfreie Zonen werden

Wiens Schulärzte haben gesprochen. Geht es nach ihrem Willen, werden alle Schulen zu handyfreien Zonen. Die Schulärzte empfehlen den Schuldirektoren, ein Handyverbot in die Hausordnungen aufzunehmen. Denn die Handy-Strahlung könne jungen Menschen schaden, was nicht erwiesen ist. Andererseits fehlt aber auch der klare Gegenbeweis.

Also meinen die Schulärzte: "Sicher ist sicher!"

Die kürzlich ausgesprochene Empfehlung der Schulärzte wurde in einem Kreis von AHS-Schuldirektoren bei einer Dienstbesprechung mit dem Schulärztlichen Dienst zunächst mündlich getätigt.

Begründet wurde sie mit dem Vorliegen einer Studie, die einen negativen Effekt der Mobilfunkstrahlen speziell auf junge Menschen befürchtet. Die Mobilfunkbetreiber wiesen diese Studie zurück und verwiesen darauf, dass alle WHO-Richtlinien eingehalten würden. Dennoch nahm die Wiener Ärztekammer ebendiese Studie im Sommer zum Anlass für Warnungen vor dem übermäßigen Handy-Gebrauch. Logischerweise stellten sich die Schulärzte auf den selben Standpunkt.

Nun wurde aus der mündlichen Empfehlung eines Handy-Verbots eine schriftliche: Der Stadtschulrat erklärte sich "gern" bereit, die Empfehlung schriftlich an die AHS-Direktoren weiterzuleiten.

In diesem Schreiben steht: "Eine kürzlich präsentierte Studie weist eindeutig einen gentoxischen Effekt von Mobilfunkstrahlen nach. Daher hat die Wiener Ärztekammer. . . ausdrücklich vor übermäßigem Handy-Telefonieren vor allem bei Kindern gewarnt. . .

Solange nicht eindeutig das Gegenteil bewiesen ist, empfehlen wir die Schulordnung/Hausordnung ihrer Schule zu überprüfen und wenn möglich ein Handyverbot auszusprechen. Sicher ist sicher!"

Des Weiteren zählt das auf Stadtschulrat-Papier verschickte Schreiben Empfehlungen der Ärztekammer zum Gebrauch von Handys.
"Die Empfehlung gilt natürlich auch für die Pflichtschulen", erklärt man im Stadtschulrat. Die praktizieren ein Handy-Verbot - mehr oder weniger streng - seit geraumer Zeit.

Schaumgebremst wendet es Direktor Jürgen Peters von der Franz-Jonas-Europaschule in der Floridsdorfer Deublergasse an: "Bei uns darf man ein Handy zwar mithaben - es muss aber unhör- und unsichtbar bleiben. Bei Verstößen wird das Handy kassiert und nur den Eltern ausgefolgt. Bei der Gelegenheit erkläre ich ihnen freundlich den Sinn des Verbots."

"Handy fern vom Körper halten"

Auszug aus den jüngsten Empfehlungen der Ärztekammer:

Kinder unter 16 Jahren sollten Handys nicht oder nur in dringenden Fällen kurz benutzen.

Das Handy in der Hosentasche und auch SMS-Versenden unter der Schulbank kann die Fruchtbarkeit beeinträchtigen und sollte daher gänzlich unterlassen werden.

Beim Versenden von SMS sollte das Handy vom Körper fern gehalten werden.

Handy während des Gesprächsaufbaues nicht an den Kopf halten.

Das Handy nachts ausschalten oder nicht in Kopfnähe aufbewahren.

Nicht in Fahrzeugen (Auto, Bus, Bahn) telefonieren, da hier das Handy mit höherer Leistung strahlt.

Auch Headsets sind nicht empfehlenswert.

Keine Spiele am Handy spielen.

Internet nur über Kabelverbindungen nutzen. UMTS und WLAN führen zu hohen Strahlenbelastungen.

WIEN. Laut einer Warnung der Wiener Ärztekammer kann Handystrahlung krank machen, im schlimmsten Fall Krebs verursachen. Jetzt reagiert der Wiener Stadtschulrat darauf.

In einem Schreiben empfiehlt die Leiterin des Schulärztlichen Dienstes, Andrea Kubec, den Wiener AHS-Direktoren, "wenn möglich ein Handy-Verbot auszusprechen". Grundlage dafür die ist die Warnung der Ärztekammer aus dem Sommer, die sich auf die international durchgeführte "Reflex-Studie" bezog (siehe

Ausgerechnet dort hält man die Empfehlung jetzt für überzogen. Gudrun Weber, Schulärztereferentin der Wiener Ärztekammer zur "Presse": "Ich halte es für absolut übertrieben, mit so einer Empfehlung an die Schulen zu gehen." Es bestünde die Gefahr, "dass die Sache Beine bekommt und eine Eigendynamik, vergleichbar mit einer Hysterie vor der Vogelgrippe, entwickelt". Für Weber ist ein Verbot der falsche Weg mit der Gefahr umzugehen. "Handys sollte man an Schulen aus anderen, nicht aber aus gesundheitlichen Gründen verbieten."

Im Büro der Wiener Stadtschulratspräsidentin Susanne Brandsteidl nimmt man die Empfehlung von Landesschulärztin Andrea Kubec sehr ernst. Neben den höheren Schulen will man die Warnung auch an Pflicht- und Privatschulen weiterleiten. "Uns geht es nicht darum Hysterie zu schaffen", erklärte Sprecher Matias Meissner. Allerdings könne man die Empfehlung der Ärzte - gerade wenn es um Kinder geht - auch nicht negieren. Meissner: "Frau Kubec wird gute Gründe für ihre Empfehlung gehabt haben."

In der Praxis ist ein Verbot von Handys jedoch schwer exekutierbar. Genauso wie Schultaschen nicht nach Waffen durchsucht werden dürfen, können die Schüler nicht auf Handys "gefilzt" werden. Einzig: Über die Hausordnung kann - ähnlich wie beim Rauchverbot - ein Handy-Verbot festgeschrieben werden.

In den meisten Wiener Gymnasien ist dies ohnehin der Fall. Wer beispielsweise im GRG Wenzgasse in Hietzing in der Pause per Handy telefoniert, dem wird das Gerät bis zum Ende des Tages abgenommen.

Anders im Theresianum im vierten Bezirk. "Das Telefonieren in der Pause ist wichtig für den Kontakt mir der Familie", so Administrator Fritz Tiefenbrunner. Ansonsten habe das Theresianum kein Handyproblem. "Die Schüler halten sich daran, dass ihr Telefon während der Stunde abgeschaltet sein muss", so Tiefenbrunner, "wenn wir nichts ändern müssen, tun wir es nicht". Karin Lobner, Administratorin im Gymnasium Rahlgasse in Mariahilf hält ein totales Handy-Verbot für nicht umsetzbar: "Wir haben keine Möglichkeit. Wenn wir das Telefon während der Stunde wegnehmen, müssen wir es am Ende der Einheit zurückgeben. Wenn wir es in der Pause einziehen, dann am Ende der Pause."

Kärnten hat indes schon ein Handyverbot, allerdings nur ein theoretisches. Denn Schulreferent Martin Strutz (BZÖ) sandte am 13. September an alle Pflichtschulen ein Schreiben, in dem er an die Direktoren appellierte, ein Verbot in der Hausordnung festzuschreiben. Begründung: Mobiltelefone seien nicht nur aus medizinischen Gründen bedenklich, sie verursachten hohe Kosten und störten an vielen Schulen den Unterricht.

Bei den Lehrern ist Strutz' Anliegen auf wenig Gegenliebe gestoßen. "Nicht einmal ignorieren" laute das Motto an den betroffenen Schulen, sagt Vize-Landesschulrats-Präsident Rudi Altersberger (SP) im Gespräch mit der "Presse". Das Verbot sei nämlich unkontrollierbar, denn: Das Durchsuchen der Rucksäcke und Jacken von Schülern sei nur bei Gefahr in Verzug erlaubt und von einer solchen könne man bei Mobiltelefonen wohl nicht sprechen. Altersberger: "Es gibt keine vernünftige Begründung, mit der man in der Demokratie jemandem die Benützung eines allgemein gebräuchlichen Kommunikations-Mittels verbieten könnte."

SUMMARY In this paper, the functional impairment electrohypersensitivity is investigated. The aim of the study was to characterize the complex set of symptoms and to order them according to the WHO's ICQ10 register of diagnoses. Furthermore, we also tested for the presence of increased levels of IgE or signs of a positive Phadiatop Combi (which is a screening test for allergies towards certain articles of food, pollen, insects and other animals) which both would be indicators of an immune system alert. If such increases would be found, they could then be used in the diagnosis of electrohypersensitivity.

Twenty-two persons (5 men, 17 women) participated. The age range was between 25 and 79 years. The symptoms were given in a ranked scale where the symptoms were attributed points according to the following: 0 = no symptoms at all, 1 = occasional, mild symptoms 2 = occasional, severe symptoms 3 = regular, mild symptoms 4 = regular, severe symptoms.

Symptoms of the skin and the nervous systems dominated the picture. The most frequent ones were skin redness, eczema and sweating, loss of memory, concentration difficulties, sleep disturbances, dizziness as well as muscular and joint-related pain, and muscular and joint-related weakness. Headache, faintness, nose blockade and fatigue were also common. In addition, 19 of the persons had symptoms from the gastrointestinal tract. All (!) the persons with the impairment electrohypersensitivity had tinnitus.

No connection between IgE blood levels and symptoms could be found, all the persons with electrohypersensitivity had normal values (<122 kU/l). Only 3 persons had a positive Phadiatop Combi.

In summary, it is of paramount importance to continue the investigation of persons with the impairment electrohypersensitivity. We would favour studies of electromagnetic fields' interaction with mast cell release of histamine and other biologically active substances, studies of lymphocyte viability as well as studies of the newly described serotonin-containing melanocytes. Also, continued analysis of the intraepidermal nerve fibers and their relations to these mast cells and serotonin-containing melanocytes are very important. Finally, not to be forgotten, a general investigation - of persons with the impairment electrohypersensitivity versus normal healthy volunteers - regarding the above markers as well as other markers for cell traffic, proliferation and inflammation is very much needed.

Such scientific work may lay a firm foundation for necessary adjustment of accessibility, thus helping and supporting all persons with the impairment electrohypersensitivity.

This information includes the English version of the above-referenced, study -- a "very important evaluation" that will hopefully go a long way toward moving away from "allergic-type sensitivity" to deal with the "real issue of EMF/EMR-induced toxicity" -- or "the poisoning" that results from chronic, prolonged exposures to even low levels of electromagnetic radiation pollution!!!

This is (as usual) brilliant! I wonder too: What are the IgE levels after exposure to ionizing radiation? My guess would be that they would be increased.

Yes, EHS could very well not be a real "hypersensitivity" as in "allergic reaction," but rather "poisioning" which varies considerably depending on particularly daytime or nighttime EMF/EMR exposures.

The idea of adaption is also very tasty - it certainly deserves deep investigation...but by whom? ['Money, money, money - were art thou?'] Actually, there are - in older materials here in Sweden - quite strong indications for such an adaption in EHS.

Finally, one finding of our study - as well as of others - is that the base-line level of IgE has risen during the last decades, indicating that we all are drifting towards a general state of allergy/oversensitivity!

Dear Olle: An interesting and important study!!! Since IgE levels were not found to be elevated except in a few exposed persons (consistent with my two grandsons' rare immune -- low IgG subclasses 1 and 3 signifying "ageing"), I am wondering if you have any information re IgE levels after exposure to ionizing radiation?

It appears to me that your study supports what has happened in our family and in my guinea pig studies -- that EHS is not really "hypersensitivity" as in "allergic reaction," but rather "poisioning" which varies considerably depending on particularly nighttime EMF/EMR exposures. Perhaps IgE levels only rise "initially" when exposure occurs so that levels return to normal after "adaptation?" This makes me question whether IgE levels rise in response to low levels of arsenic (will also check Medline, etc.).

I am wondering whether "lymphocyte viability" would give information re a "left or right shift" and, if not, would you consider "absolute white count" as necessary for determining "inflammation?" I assume so, since I think I do have your study re "hypersegmented neutrophils" (slowed DNA synthesis -- "a marker for irradiation"). [Forgive "explanations" -- intended to help in my research as well as provide info to others.]

In thinking over the research, I do not recall right now whether C-reactive protein has been a part of EMF/EMR research but need to check that out. It does concern me a great deal that my Internist and Cardiologist do not check C-reactive protein while "hung up" (the big money/drug company issue re statins) on huge emphasis and need for lipid/cholesteol levels even tho "inflammation" may be the real culprit in heart disease and mosthealth problems. As you know, I have taken my Alzheimers' patient husband off of Lipitor (statin) due to possibility that cholesterol offers protection to the brain.

Anyway, thanks for the study re IgE which, as I said, confirms what we know about the boys. One can have low overall IGG levels as well as IgG subclass deficiencies with "inflammatory problems" such as chronic asthma, chronic sinus infections due to chronic, prolonged exposure to nighttime EMF/EMR (electric meter re boys) which would suggest an "allergic-type inflammatory response" but not have elevated IgE (Mayo Clinic RAST and/or your new study).

Sorry to branch out so far with cholesterol comments, etc. but....... Take care - Joanne

Consciously I did not provide also large data sets, since in the autumn still approximately 300 to 400 persons after switching on of the transmitter on is added. The large inhomogeneity of the questionnaires, the laboratories and the situations led however to a quite constant evaluation.

In groups the before afterwards effect is very similar, with the MCHC is at least after one year clear changes, which is LFR with all variation of other parameters in the intraindividuellen comparison very reliably reduced with 2/3 of the persons, with a third increased.

With children one is to influenceableness of these fields, here clearly reacts the small ones even to 80% with decrease of the LFR opposite pensioners. In connection with the new investigations from Naila thus altogether again serious arguments against the carefree spreading of the technology.

Chronic or intractable medical problems associated with prolonged exposure to unsuspected harmful environmental electric, magnetic or electro-magnetic fields radiating in the bedroom or workplace and their exacerbation by intake of harmful light and heavy metals from common sources.

Unsuspected prolonged exposure to abnormal environmental (very high frequency) electro-magnetic fields (EMF), electric fields (EF) or magnetic fields (MF) at 60 Hz or 16K Hz in the bedroom or workplace may contribute to the development of various intractable medical problems. Most of the clinical symptoms appear when the individuals are exposed to EMF for many hours a day for at least several months to 1-year for relatively benign diseases or symptoms (such as intractable pain or medical problems), or several to over 10 years for more serious diseases (such as cancers of the digestive system or other organs), all of which seem to appear with the additional co-existence of micro-circulatory disturbances with Thromboxane B2 (TXB2), bacterial or viral infections and decrease or absence of acetylcholine, and lead, mercury, or aluminum deposits, with or without asbestos. These abnormal environmental EMF's or EF's can be detected by the Bi-Digital O-Ring Test, which has good correlation with standard laboratory measurement, especially with EF measurement, and the distribution of EMF often includes a linear band-like appearance on the abnormal part of the patient's body, as well as on the patient's corresponding area of the bed, or at the workplace. These EMF's can be eliminated either by a metal sheet, acting as a reflector, which redirects the harmful EMF or eliminates it completely by grounding the metal sheet at high frequency range, while extremely low frequency (ELF) magnetic fields at the near field are more difficult to eliminate. Several examples of medical problems that appear to be associated with repeated and prolonged exposure to abnormal environmental EMF, EF or MF are summarized in this article. EF or MF-induced abnormalities were artificially and reversibly created in humans by exposing the extremities or head to a 10Volt/Meter (V/M) EF at 60 Hz about 33 (evening) to 50 cm (daytime or after midnight) from a pair of rubber insulated wires connected to an AC source, but where no current is passed, so that no extra MF exists. After exposing normal parts of the extremities and head to a 10 V/M EF for 5 minutes, abnormal increase of TXB2 and disappearance or significant reduction of acetylcholine was observed for 5 minutes, and slightly longer abnormal time duration was observed in those who have aluminum, lead, or mercury deposits. This indicates that the upper limit of relatively safe EF should be around 10V/M at 60 Hz rather than 25V/M at ELF by Swedish Government recommendation, which is now widely accepted.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 400 WORDS)
