Base Stations and Wireless Networks: Radiofrequency (RF) Exposures and Health Consequences

Another Repacholi & Co. spin- article in Enviromental Health Perspectives

Dear Old Michael Repacholi may have retired from his position as head EMF science sorcerer at WHO but he’s still weaving his evil spells. When not selling his expertise to aid the nuclear industry and the Pentagon by declaring that Chernobyl was not really that bad after all and that Depleted Uranium is okay to injest - provided you don’t take too much, he manages to get in another shot for his old paymasters, the Telcos. All in the name of good science, of course.

See “Base Stations and Wireless Networks: Radiofrequency (RF) Exposures and health Consequences” as published in article in Enviromental Health Perspectives. //www.ehponline.org/members/2006/9633/9633.pdf

Note that the lead author is one Peter A . Valberg, an expert in human health risk assessment from Gradient Corporation. Check out Gradient Corporation’s web site, under “Cost Management” and you will find the following quote. Repacholi is in good company….

“Clients engage Gradient to assist with environmental issues that directly affect their business goals and their bottom line…We are hired for our strong technical analysis and our ability to provide clear testimony and persuasive negotation to help our clients achieve their goals and abide by environmental laws and regulations.”

It would be interesting to see Gradient’s client base. Most likely a Whos-Who of corporate polluters. It would also be of interest who paid Gradient to co-author the EHP report.

The future of independent research

EXIT INDEPENDENT EMF RESEARCH, ENTER POTBOILER SCIENCE

The recent EMF meeting in Crete, //imm.demokritos.gr/bioeffects was the 4th in a series of meetings on Biological Effects of EMF, taking place every second year in a Greek island. Despite its success these meetings will now be discontinued. These meetings were one of the few of its kind where it was possible to present results that show biological and negative health effects due to EMF. Apparently the organizers have been under great pressure to change this, but instead of they have decided to stop organizing these meetings. At the last meeting the industrial and WHO stooges claimed loudly that many of the contributions were of low-quality and should not have been accepted or in other words negative effects of EMF should not be presented. These people were present in the audience at almost every presentation that mentioned biological or negative health effects of EMF. During the discussion they were always the first to criticize the work as being bad science, incorrect results, never been duplicated etc. Now Italy, Turkey, Bulgaria and Malta are eager to organize these meetings, but nothing was mentioned about their political message.

Secret ties to industry and conflicting interests in cancer research, Journal of Industrial Medicine, 2006

Editor's summary: Some consulting firms employ university researchers for industry work thereby disguising industry links in the income of large departments. If the industry affiliation is concealed by the scientist, biases from conflicting interests in risk assessments cannot be evaluated and dealt with properly. Furthermore, there is reason to suspect that editors and journal staff may suppress publication of scientific results that are adverse to industry owing to internal conflict of interest between editorial integrity and business needs

I forward here this newly published article by Lennart Hardell, Elihu Richter and others called "Secret Ties" (article is attached. See journal citation and link below) that describes industry influence over the reported outcome of "independent" scientific research that is being strategically designed to affect policy development and legal decisions. Among the many case studies well documented herein, I especially refer you to the section on how Motorola's behind the scenes participation in certain studies in Sweden on possible epidemiological connections between cell phones and brain tumors were aimed at discrediting the work of Lennart Hardell. Motorola's involvement in those studies was found to be tied to a major tort claim against Motorola brought by Dr. Chris Newman, who later died of brain cancer. Hardell's testimony in this case was considered pivitol to its outcome. The paper recommends that scientific integrity requires greater transparency and continued monitoring is required by the independent scientific community and editors of scientific journals.

Article is attached. See journal citation and direct link below

Dear Madam, dear Sir,

You will find the form and our comment in the first two attachments (as seen above), because it was not possible for me, unfortunately, to use the form directly. The rest consists of scientific studies and articles contributing to the text.

Postscriptum: As I did not get a response from you I'll try once more to send you my/our comment. Obviously you changed your address? (At first I wrote to the address mentioned in the link of the EU Commission's website). I do hope this will be allright. If you had got the first one please put it away!
