I somehow got on a list of activists for John Kerry and will add your comments to a packet I will present along with a letter to John Kerry's people soon.

Kerry is regrouping and campaigning hard regarding insurance coverage for children (very important and much-needed project) and needs to know, as do other politicians, that health and insurance problems in the U.S. will continue to spin out-of-control until someone takes responsibility for releasing the EMF Interagency Committee Report to Congress so that announcements and pamphlets emphasizing "prudent avoidance" can be distributed to clinics, hospitals and schools around-the-country. Acknowledgement of the importance of the 2002 EMF California Report should be added to the EMF RAPID findings when Congress evaluates findings re EMF and immune dysfunction, childhood Leukemia, and other health problems cited in the EMF RAPID Conclusions.

PREVENTION in regard to especially night-time EMF/EMR exposures is essential for everyone even tho you and I and others know that such exposures affect children more profoundly than adults. Even effects from poor sleep and resultant headaches and depression can and do place a huge burden on society!!!!

Filters have now been placed in many schools by Dr. Magda Havas/Dave Stetzer and as Dr. Havas reports, "the results are amazing" with improvements in attention, less need for asthma inhalers and even the principal of two schools reporting major improvement in her M.S. symptoms. I believe there are funds that were allocated for "informing the public" at the time EMF RAPID was initiated. Those funds should be transferred to the Environmental Protection Agency so information can be released to the public!!! A booklet on EMF's was printed by the Culver Company (the utilities' communications' experts) in 2001 that makes specific suggestions in regard to replacing electric clocks in bedrooms with battery-operated or wind-up clocks. Contact with Culver Company confirms that printing of the booklet was stopped. I received a copy of the booklet from Florida Power & Light a couple of years ago. A Culver Company representative happened to mention that the booklets were also being prepared for distribution to schools. WHY is this not happening???!!!

I have written to various public justice groups and have not even received a response. WHO is going to help the public decide how much of being guinea pigs they are willing to accept? HOW can industry officials, politicans, media officials sleep at night knowing there are children (not to mention the rest of society) suffering when oftentimes just moving electrical appliances/devices away from their beds might greatly improve or eliminate chronic asthma, chronic sinus infections, chronic headaches, ADD, ADHD and many other health problems that do not allow a child to study in school or to interact properly???!!!

One of the greatest mistakes that was made in regard to the $46 million "major rip-off" (EMF RAPID) is not considering the countless health problems that occur before a diagnosis of Leukemia!!!! We are allowing government officials to carry on not informing the public because they are getting away with the lame excuse that the percentages of children who develop Leukemia are small. They state the evidence for Leukemia in adults in the workplace is "weak." Well, there may be truth in those statements BUT the fact "there is evidence," and the fact "no one" can say what a safe level is, combined with the overwhelming costs for the many health problems that occur before Leukemia develops, makes it imperative that immediate action must be taken to inform the public.

Sorry, Deb, you know all of this and have been and still are a "great fighter for-the-cause!!!" Your comments (haven't had a chance to open all the others yet) "opened-a-door" in my mind that will be an important point (involvement of EPA) to John Kerry (and others) as I mentioned above.

I don't know what's going off in our communities or how many people are being put through high levels of EMF in their own homes. I' ve suffered terribly from it, and the levels come through in high surges even when my power is switched off at the mains.

Another point I would mention is that there is a loud clicking sound that comes from my wall power point even when nothing is running. It sounds like the clicking a central heating system makes when it clicks on. Except I don't have central heating. I have had one storage heater running through the entire winter and it runs from a totally different circuit to my wall plugs.

I've noted this sharp click sound also in a room upstairs, and I've no idea what it is. Unless, that is my, electrics have been tampered with to create the situation. Which may explain my high electricity bills even when I'm using the minimum of electricity.

Please don't suggest I contact my utility electrical supplier. Things no longer work that way here in England, where these things are now left as if they don't exist...and the cancer cases grow.

The government we have just pretend... on all things. So you can imagine what is done about the EMF and radiation problem here. It simply doesn't exist.

Die Bezüge einzelner Vorsitzender der Kassenzahnärztlichen Vereinigungen (KZV) seien um mehr als 300 Prozent gewachsen, schreibt die "Süddeutsche Zeitung" unter Berufung auf Statistiken. Spitzenreiter sei der Chef der KZV Westfalen-Lippe, Dietmar Gorski, dessen Gehalt nun bei 221.600 Euro liege. Ein Jahr zuvor habe es 49.000 Euro betragen - ein sattes Plus von 350 Prozent. Damit verdiene Gorski mehr als der Chef der Kassenzahnärztlichen Bundesvereinigung (KZBV) Jürgen Fedderwitz, der mit 220.000 Euro nach Hause gehe. Zuvor hätten dessen Bezüge bei 73.600 Euro gelegen, wobei damals weitere Zahlungen wie Sitzungsgelder hinzukamen.

I have written to you in the past about my illness as a result of my use of a digital cellphone, I have a couple of questions for you and I am asking the the EMF group the same.

I have recently read one of your recent communications with Don Maisch stating your fears of the future, and I want to first comment as a person who is already facing early dementia and am scared as hell about it. Yes, I am dealing with all the symptoms of early onset Alzheimers, and it is very frightning?

When I think of the millions of people who are destroying their BRAINS with cellphones I shudder with the thoughts of who the hell is going to care for all these people. How many people have to go through what I and so many other people have gone through before the human race finnally realizes that it made a very big mistake by allowing an entire population be a guinnea pig for this hiddious experiment.

Here is my Question. I would like to communicate with as many other people as I can, who have been affected by cellphones or by celltowers. You mentioned a few people you know personally who are dealing with dementia from their work with the industry, could you ask them if they would be interested in forming a support group to help others who are becoming ill and don't know where to turn.

I have recently gotten the Doctors who are caring for me to believe I have been injured by a cellphone, and they are trying a variety of things to help me cope with the many symptoms I suffer from.

I thank you and all the other people who are trying so hard to bring the EMR-EMF issue to the light it needs so very badly.

[Land Salzburg] Salzburger Umweltmediziner Oberfeld stellt Ergebnisse einer neuen Studie vor

(LK) „Die Ergebnisse einer neuen Studie zeigen weltweit erstmals, dass die Einstrahlung einer Mobilfunksendeanlage (GSM 900/1800 MHz) in etwa 80 Metern Entfernung zu signifikanten Veränderungen unterschiedlicher EEG-Parameter führt. Die gemessenen Veränderungen der Gehirnströme sind mit verschiedenen vegetativen und zentralnervösen Störungen, über die die Probanden berichteten, in Zusammenhang zu bringen.“ Dies teilte heute, Mittwoch, 27. April, der Salzburger Umweltmediziner Dr. Gerd Oberfeld vom Referat „Gesundheit, Hygiene und Umweltmedizin“ des Landes mit.

In der Studie wurden zur Auswertung die Elektrodenpaare im Hinterhauptslappen und Scheitellappen herangezogen und für drei Frequenzbänder Alpha 1 (8-10 Hz), Alpha 2 (10-12 Hz) und Beta (13-20 Hz) untersucht. Ausgehend von der Phase geringer Strahlenbelastung kam es zu einer Aktivitätsänderung in allen drei Frequenzbändern. Diese Veränderungen können zusammenfassend als Reaktion des Gehirns auf einen äußeren Reiz – im speziellen Fall durch die Strahlung einer GSM-Mobilfunksendeanlage - angesehen werden. Äußere Reize, die zu einer Reaktion des biologischen Systems führen, werden als externe Stressoren bezeichnet. Stressoren sind nicht grundsätzlich negativ (Eustress), können jedoch bei zu häufigem Auftreten bzw. bei zu großer Intensität in Abhängigkeit von der Empfindlichkeit des betroffenen Menschen zu Störungen der Lebensqualität, der Arbeitsleistung und der Gesundheit führen (Disstress), erläuterte Dr. Oberfeld. Aufgrund der von fast allen Studienteilnehmern geschilderten zum Teil erheblichen Störungen des Wohlbefindens ist zumindest bei auf Mobilfunkstrahlung empfindlichen Personen bereits bei einer kurzzeitigen Einwirkung eine Disstressreaktion anzunehmen.

Strahlung muss reduziert werden

Die Ergebnisse der Untersuchung zeigen, so Oberfeld in Zusammenschau mit den vorliegenden empirischen Daten, die Notwendigkeit, die Gesundheitsbelastung durch hochfrequente elektromagnetische Strahlung zu reduzieren und die Forschung zu intensivieren. Die Ergebnisse zeigen weltweit erstmals, dass die Einstrahlung einer Mobilfunksendeanlage (GSM 900/1800 MHz) in etwa 80 m Distanz zu signifikanten Veränderungen unterschiedlicher EEG-Parameter führt. Es ist geplant, diese Ergebnisse in internationalen Fachzeitschriften zu veröffentlichen und die jetzt gefundenen Resultate durch weitere Untersuchungen abzusichern. Dazu werden schon jetzt freiwillige Studienteilnehmer ab 16 Jahren gesucht, die sich als empfindlich oder unempfindlich gegenüber Mobilfunksendeanlagen bezeichnen. Interessenten werden ersucht, sich an die Umweltmedizin des Landes Salzburg unter der Telefonnummer (0662) 8042-2969 zu wenden. Die Untersuchung wurde aus Geldern der Salzburger Landesregierung finanziert.
Rudolf-Steiner-Schule war Projektauslöser

Die Rudolf-Steiner-Schule in Salzburg-Mayrwies liegt im Hauptstrahl der Mobilfunksendeanlage am benachbarten Wählamt der Telekom Austria. Die höchsten Strahlenpegel wurden bei geöffnetem Fenster im Religionsraum 1 im ersten Stock der Schule in etwa 80 m Distanz zum Sender gemessen. Mehrere Versuche der Schule zur Entfernung des Senders waren bisher vergeblich.

In einer interdisziplinären Arbeitsgruppe bestehend aus Dr. med. univ. Gerd Oberfeld, Umweltmediziner des Landes Salzburg (Studienleiter), Dr. Hannes Schimke (EEG-Brainmapping / Psychophysiologie / Statistik) und Univ. Prof. Dr. Günther Bernatzky (Arbeitsgruppe für Neurodynamics und Neurosignalling der Universität Salzburg) wurde ein innovatives Studiendesign erstellt. Unterstützt wurde die neurophysiologische EEG-Befundung durch Dr. med. univ. Gernot Luthringshausen, Neurologe/EEG. Untersuchungsziel war die Abklärung eines möglichen Zusammenhangs zwischen der Einstrahlung der Mobilfunksendeanlage und der Beeinflussung der Gehirnaktivität bei erwachsenen Studienteilnehmern.

Schulklasse wird zum Strahlenlabor

Unterstützt durch die Rudolf-Steiner-Schule wurde im August 2004 der Religionsraum 1 für eine Woche zum Studienlabor. Die dem Sender zugewandte Seite wurde mit einem Abschirmstoff verhängt, nur eine kleine Fläche im geöffneten Fenster wurde mit einem normalen Stoff versehen, um die hochfrequente Strahlung in den Versuchsraum zu lassen. Diese Öffnung konnte nun sehr einfach durch einen zweiten kleinen Abschirmvorhang verschlossen und wieder geöffnet werden.

Die hochfrequente Einstrahlung im Religionsraum wurde durch die nahe Mobilfunksendeanlage dominiert. Am Untersuchungsplatz ergaben sich im ungeschirmten Zustand als Maximalwert für TV-Sender Pegel von 0,03 µW/m², für UKW von 3 µW/m³ und für die Mobilfunksendeanlage von 6290 µW/m². Während der gesamten Untersuchung wurden neben der Aufzeichnung der Strahlenbelastung durch die Mobilfunksendeanlage direkt neben dem Studienteilnehmer verschiedene Umweltparameter wie Schallpegel (Umweltschutzabteilung des Landes Salzburg), Kohlenstoffdioxid, Temperatur, relative Luftfeuchtigkeit, magnetische Wechselfelder (können z.B. bei Stromflüssen in Leitungen auftreten) und die Sfericsaktivität (Auslöser von Wetterbeschwerden) erhoben.

Studienteilnehmer im Alter zwischen 20 und 78 Jahren

Neun Frauen und drei Männer im Alter zwischen 20 und 78 Jahren, die sich selber gegenüber Mobilfunksendeanlagen als empfindlich bezeichneten, stellten sich freiwillig für das Experiment zur Verfügung. Es wurde den Teilnehmern freigestellt, die Untersuchung jederzeit abzubrechen. Die zeitliche Abfolge der Belastung wurde den Teilnehmern nicht mitgeteilt.

Die Studienteilnehmer wurden in einen bequemen Polstersessel mit dem Rücken zum geöffneten Fenster gesetzt. Die Einstrahlung erfolgte leicht schräg auf den Hinterkopf. Die Belastung des Oberkörpers betrug bedingt durch die Abschirmung etwa 1/8 der Kopfbelastung. Anschließend wurden zur Aufzeichnung der bioelektrischen Aktivität des Gehirns (Elektroenzephalogramm-EEG) mehrere Elektroden verteilt auf dem Kopf angebracht. Um die Wirkungen anderer Umweltreize zu minimieren, erhielten die Studienteilnehmer eine dunkle Augenmaske (Schlafmaske) und Ohrenwachs (Ohropax) beidseits. Die Untersuchung erfolgte in Ruhe, Bewegungen wurden mit Ausnahme der Atmung und des Schluckens vermieden. Zu Beginn des Versuches war die Strahlenbelastung im Raum bzw. bei der Versuchsperson deutlich reduziert und betrug im örtlichen und zeitlichen Mittel im Kopfbereich etwa 26 µW/m². Danach wurde für 15 Minuten der zweite kleine Abschirmvorhang unmerkbar für die Studienteilnehmer angehoben. Dies führte zu einem Anstieg der Leistungsflussdichte auf etwa 3327 µW/m². Danach folgte wieder eine geschirmte Phase mit etwa 26 µW/m².

Nach Abschluss der EEG-Aufzeichnungen wurden die Studienteilnehmer gebeten, allfällige Wahrnehmungen zu schildern. Elf der zwölf Studienteilnehmer schilderten verschiedene Symptome wie etwa Bienenkorbsurren im Kopf, Herzklopfen, Unbehagen, Benommenheit, Herzbeklemmung, Atemnot, Nervosität, Unruhe, Kopfschmerzen, Ohrgeräusch, Hitzegefühl, Niedergeschlagenheit, Gefühl nicht genug Luft zu bekommen. Tatsache ist, dass bevor auch nur eine umfassende Risikoabklärung zu dem bestehendem GSM-Mobilfunknetz erfolgt ist, wird mit verhängten Zügeln gleich noch UMTS an der Gesundheit der Bevölkerung vorbei installiert und das offensichtlich, in durch die Medien vermittelter Eintracht mit der Politik. Vorbei an der Vorsorge für eine darüber völlig unzureichend informierte Bevölkerung. Diese wird vor die vollendete Tatsache gestellt und ehe man sich versieht, fahren bereits die Bagger auf und Montagetrupps rüsten die Sender auf. Auch die durch die Medien transportierten Aussagen sind irreführend, denn wenn Mobilfunk unbedenklich und zumutbar ist, wozu dann überhaupt eine "Grenzwertfeilscherei", ist er aber wie unzählige Untersuchungen und Studien belegen, sogar ein erheblicher Risikofaktor warum greift dann nicht das verfassungsgemäße Grundrecht auf absolute körperliche und geistige Unversehrtheit?

"Die unsichtbare Gefahr" war der treffende Untertitel, des Montag, den 24.04.05 ausgestrahlten Mobilfunkbeitrags der ORFSendung "Thema". Hier wurden die berechtigten gesundheitlichen Bedenken massiv untermauert.

Betroffen machte einerseits die dort gezeigte Pilotstudie mit eindeutig signifikanten, gesundheitlich äußerst bedenklichen Auswirkungen der Senderstrahlung an der Salzburger Rudolf-Steiner-Schule Salzburg, andererseits die hilflose und unsachliche Reaktion Mag. Barmüllers vom FMK, der sich damit selbst disqualifizierte. Solche Leute sind die Partner unserer Politiker in diesen erwähnten Verhandlungen!

The National Institute of Health is funding a study that has measured the RF exposure of 300 people up here together with blood and urine samples. The study has not yet been published.

Background

The budget conference report need not say the words "Arctic National Wildlife Refuge" to result in Arctic Refuge drilling. In fact, it is likely that the report will not mention the Refuge by name but will instead contain "reconciliation instructions" to the House Resources and Senate Energy Committees, requiring them to cut their budgets by a specific amount.

Although these open-ended instructions sound harmless, the Committees would be allowed to fulfill the instructions by changing laws to generate new revenue, instead of making actual cuts. Reconciliation instructions would therefore give pro-drilling chairmen of these committees, Sen. Pete Domenici (R-NM) and Rep. Richard Pombo (R-CA), everything they need to avoid a Senate filibuster over drilling the Arctic Refuge.

A vote for a budget resolution with these open-ended instructions is a vote to drill America's Arctic Refuge, whether or not it mentions the Refuge by name. Unlike the energy bill, the budget resolution cannot be filibustered.

Thanks for your kind invitation to join the 'Attica to Abu Ghraib' Conference: *Ona Move!*

When we think about the atrocities of Attica, and the abominations at Abu Ghraib, we are sometimes caught searching for a common denominator. What could it be, we wonder, as we look at the brutal state assault on both prisoners and staff at Attica, and the human rights violations, and yes - torture, that marked American behavior at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq?

The commonalities, however, are more than first meets the eye. Of course, they are both prisons (but that's obvious). They both came to public consciousness through the actions of people who were prison guards. And they both were, initially, defended by the State by a flood of lies.

What matters really least, is that they occurred in different countries. They both happened in the same empire.

What marked the differences between them is the critical element of time, and even this quality does not speak well of things to come. For, as time is the difference, yet it tells us how far things have fallen; how the 30 years between Attica and Abu Ghraib have marked a coarsening of American character, and a brutishness of imperial defenders.

Attica opened up an era of prison reform across much of the nation, and fueled the movement to attempt to eradicate the most depraved elements of the nation's repressive prison systems.

Abu Ghraib was met by quasi-official justifications, government obfuscation, and the incredible spectacle of right-wing pundits likening the torture and human rights abuses there to 'college pranks.' The humiliation of naked Arab men was compared to the field displays of cheerleading squads!

There is, of course, another monstrous difference: the architects of Abu Ghraib, and high-level defenders of torture, have been rewarded by higher, and more prestigious posts in government!

In a nutshell, torture pays!

We have not spoken of the pivotal American issue of race.

Without prisoners actively advocating Black liberation, there would have been no Attica.

The tortured, maimed, and humiliated prisoners at Abu Ghraib were targeted by the U.S. Army because they were seeking to intimidate and eliminate people who were trying to fight to free their country from foreign occupiers. In other words, they were fighting for their own national liberation. In an empire, which picks puppets for other nations, this is not acceptable. It wasn't acceptable under the Roman Empire, the British Empire, nor its North American successor empire, the American Empire.

To this latest global incarnation of the White Nation, Arabs are but sand niggers, to be beaten into submission and obedience. It is the refusal to accept this status that is fueling what the U.S. media calls 'the insurgency.'

There is another element that arises from the evidence: American cruelty. Big Black, the late veteran of Attica, told stories of the torture and beatings that he endured, as he was naked, and held under gunpoint. It is an eerie precursor of the treatment of Arab prisoners at Abu Ghraib.

Nor is it mere coincidence that some of the most brutal, most vicious actors at Abu Ghraib were U.S. Reserves, who, in their civilian lives, were prison guards. How else could they learn it?

One of the most infamous was from SCI-Greene, in Southwestern Pennsylvania, named Charles Graner. Recently his ex-wife came forward to tell of the terrors to which she was exposed daily. She said Graner promised to cut her into little pieces, and that no one would ever find her body.

Economist Paul Krugman explains Bush's latest con -- social security

To hear George Bush tell it, Social Security is about to go broke. Since his re-election, the president has launched a full-scale campaign to convince the public that the retirement system will run out of money starting in 2018. "The system goes into the red," Bush told reporters on December 20th at a rare press conference. "Many times, legislative bodies will not react unless the crisis is apparent, crisis is upon them. I believe that crisis is." Social Security, he concluded, "can't sustain that which has been promised to the workers."

To save Social Security, Bush wants to destroy it -- replacing government-guaranteed retirement benefits with private accounts that will be subject to the whims of the stock market. It's an expensive plan. Allowing workers to divert even a small portion of their payroll taxes into private investments, as Bush is proposing, would require the government to borrow at least $2 trillion to make up the immediate shortfall. It's also completely unnecessary, according to Paul Krugman, a prize-winning professor of economics at Princeton University. In a blistering series of columns in the New York Times, Krugman has marshaled the economic data to show that Social Security is not only solvent, it's in much better financial shape than the rest of the federal government. "The people who hustled America into a tax cut to eliminate an imaginary budget surplus and a war to eliminate imaginary weapons," Krugman wrote recently, "are now trying another bum's rush." WASHINGTON, DC—In a case eerily reminiscent of the death of British Ministry of Defense bio-weapons expert, Dr. David Kelly, an official of the State Department's Bureau of Intelligence and Research Near East and South Asian division (INR/NESA), John J. Kokal, 58, was found dead in the late afternoon of November 7, 2003.

Police indicated he may have jumped from the roof of the State Department. Kokal's body was found at the bottom of a 20-foot window well, eight floors below the roof of the State Department headquarters, near the 23rd and D Street location. Kokal's death was briefly mentioned in a FOX News website story on November 8 but has been virtually overlooked by the major media. In light of recent revelations concerning UN ambassador nominee John Bolton's bizarre and physically abusive behavior, a re-examination of the Kokal death is in order. (CNN) -- Conservative Christian leaders used a nationally televised rally Sunday night to urge an end to Democratic filibusters against several of President Bush's nominees for federal judgeships.

In the rally, sponsored by the Family Research Council, one of the leaders called the congressional tactic of delaying debate, or blocking legislation, "judicial tyranny to people of faith."

"The future of democracy and ordered liberty actually depends on the outcome of this struggle," Focus on the Family founder James Dobson told the crowd at the "Justice Sunday" rally at a church in Louisville, Kentucky. Hessischer Justizminister Dr. Christean Wagner (CDU) sieht in „elektronischen Fußfesseln“ eine Möglichkeit für Langzeitarbeitslose „zu einem geregelten Tagesablauf zurückzukehren und in ein Arbeitsverhältnis vermittelt zu werden“.

Anlässlich des Auftrittes der hessischen Landesregierung während der CeBIT 2005 stellte der hessische Justizminister Dr. jur. Christean Wagner (CDU) die fünf Jahre zuvor in Hessen für Straftäter eingeführte Fußfessel vor. In der Pressemitteilung des Hessischen Ministeriums der Justiz vom 10. März 2005 zu diesem Ereignis sagt der Justizminister Dr. Christean Wagner (CDU) wörtlich:

„Die Fußfesselträger werden zu einer für ihre Verhältnisse hohen Selbstdisziplin und zur Erfüllung des ihnen vorgegebenen Wochenplans angehalten. Die elektronische Fußfessel bietet damit auch Langzeitarbeitslosen ... die Chance, zu einem geregelten Tagesablauf zurückzukehren und in ein Arbeitsverhältnis vermittelt zu werden. Viele Probanden haben es verlernt, nach der Uhr zu leben, und gefährden damit gerade auch ihren Arbeitsplatz oder ihre Ausbildungsstelle. Durch die Überwachung mit der elektronischen Fußfessel kann eine wichtige Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe geleistet werden.“

Sabine sudden of the medical examinations which do not reveal any disease. It then establishes the link between work (increase in the power?) that it observed on the antenna-relay street Ingold, opposite its building, and which has occurred of its problems of health. Those attenuate, even disappear when she is elsewhere - cinema or carpark, where the level from the portable telephones is weak. To live again normally to explain her electro-sensitivity to the electromagnetic waves, Sabine reconsiders with her medical history: operated face at 17 years, she has metal implants, steel wire and plates, close to the eyes and the mouth: would those make antennas?

A case was revealed by a Swedish specialist, establishing interferences between an osteosynthesis, nervous fabrics and the electromagnetic waves also called radio frequencies. Directed towards the Teaching hospitals of Strasbourg, Sabine is re-operated in November. One withdraws certain metal elements from her, but not all: they are encrusted too much in the bone and their extraction would be risky. When it returns to it, its symptoms, attenuated a little, reappear. To better smell itself, it sleeps in friends but stirs up various public services so that measurements objectify are carried out in her apartment. Window of a room, appears in hot line the antenna of the powerful relay hertzine of Oberhausbergen. But now that she knows the origin of her disorders, Sabine became a determined woman. She knows that its electrosensibility is not scientifically measurable in France: for that, she should go to Sweden where the scientists are interested in this type of question!

It then multiplies the contacts around the problem of the electromagnetic waves and load a lawyer of its file. To be able "to again live normally", she writes to the mayor of Strasbourg to ask him to get another social housing to her. Because to live in the private sector or in the countryside is excluded, Sabine having small wages. She also asks Fabienne Keller to intervene "with the national and European authorities". So that exceptional cases as her's are taken serious. Wouldn't her request deserve to be heard per hour when has just appeared the "White Paper of the mobile incidences of telephony and of the antennas relay on your santé/Votre GSM, your health, one lies you"? The work signed by 4 French scientists wants to alert the authorities on the existence of banal pathologies (insomnia, migraines...) or more doors (epilepsy, tumours etc.) observed at residents of antenna-relay. Increasingly many are in addition the experts to recommend "an approach of risk management taking as a starting point the the principle by precaution and aiming at reducing to low the possible level the exposure of the public to the radio frequencies (electromagnetic waves) associated mobile telephony". The scandal of asbestos, choked during if longtems, it is already forgotten?

Sicher schauen heute viele Menschen mit oder ohne Abitur und Studium mit Freuden auf ihr erfolgreiches Leben zurück. Sie haben wahre Leistungen vollbracht und verdienen Achtung! Zu deren Lebenszeit bis annähernd Ende des zwanzigsten Jahrhunderts schien eine besondere Art des Lebens auf dieser Welt noch einigermaßen in normalen Bahnen zu verlaufen! Das soll nicht heißen, dass alles in Ordnung war. Aber damals gab es noch nicht diese kleinen störenden Dinger, die „absurden Alleskönner!“ Der Artikel hält uns den Spiegel vor Augen, wo wir in der Tat stehen, auch wenn der Blickpunkt auf dem Ausland lag! Der amüsante aber dennoch ernst zu nehmende Beitrag bestätigt, dass diese so hoch gepriesene Technologie des Mobilfunks der menschlichen Evolution dahingehend schadet, dass der homo sapiens nicht nur in seiner Entwicklung stehen bleibt, sondern sich zurück entwickelt. Ja, er wird unter dem Deckmäntelchen des wirtschaftlichen Wachstums und des dringend erforderlichen technologischen Fortschritts im Zuge der (alles vernichtenden) Globalisierung in eine Abhängigkeit manipuliert und unterliegt damit schlichtweg einem Verdummungsprozess!

Das Verhalten von Fanatikern ist allseits bekannt. Doch dass der Mensch sich von einem kleinen flachen Metallkörper mit einigen Funktionstasten kontrollierbar und abhängig machen lässt, ist ein Zeichen der Verarmung an geistiger Entwicklung. Die Benutzung scheint jegliche menschliche Kontrollfunktion im Gehirn auszuschalten. Was im Artikel mit Handy-Schnitzeljagd beschrieben wird, haben wir Nachkriegskinder unter freien Himmel als Natur-Schnitzeljagd gespielt. Unser „mehr-Gewinn lag dabei in der Kreativität, Naturverbundenheit und nicht zu vergessen der Freude an der Unabhängigkeit und Freiheit! Zu welchen absurden und perversen Ideen der Mensch durch den technologischen Fortschritt kommt, ist nicht nur erschreckend, sondern schädlich für ein gesundes Gedeihen insbesondere der Kinder und Jugendlichen! Der fast nicht kontrollierbare Missbrauch, der viele in die Schuldenfalle treibt, lässt Eltern hilflos zurück. Dennoch, sind sie selbst auch im Besitz eines „Monsters“, so dass jegliche Vorbildfunktion auch nur versagen muss!

Eine Rettung derer, denen die Mobilfunk-Besessenheit generell und auch aus gesundheitlichen Gründen auf den Wecker geht, kann nur in den „Cell-phone Jammers“ (Handy-Killer) liegen. SOS, wo ist der nächste Schwarzmarkt zwecks Erwerb dieses dringend benötigten Gerätes, um als „Passiv-Handy-Telefonierer“ noch einigermaßen gesund durch dieses Leben gehen zu können, auch wenn Handys dank UMTS- und GPS-Technik bald “jeden Wunsch“ erfüllen!

Gentechnik: Syngenta will Monopol auf genmanipulierten Reis (26.04.05)

Der Schweizer Gentechnikkonzern Syngenta hat nach Recherchen von Greenpeace weltweite Monopolrechte am sogenannten "Goldenen Reis" beantragt. Die Patentanmeldung aus dem Jahr 2004 erstrecke sich auf das Verfahren, das Saatgut und die Pflanzen der genmanipulierten Reissorte, so die Umweltschutzorganisation. Das Patent sei in mehr als hundert Ländern angemeldet. Auch in Entwicklungsländern, in denen das Saatgut eigentlich kostenlos für "humanitäre Zwecke" abgegeben werden solle, würde das Patent greifen.

Castor-Transport nach Frankreich am 19. Tschernobyl-Jahrestag

Mit großer Empörung wenden sich Anti-Atomkraft-Initiativen aus Nordrhein-Westfalen gegen einen neuen Atommüll-Transport aus dem norddeutschen Atomkraftwerk Stade in die französische Plutoniumfabrik La Hague. Der Castor-Transport wird am morgigen Dienstagabend per Bahn starten, just am 19. Jahrestag der Reaktorkatastrophe von Tschernobyl.

Wir halten dieses Datum für besonders instinktlos, angesichts von Millionen von Menschen, die noch heute an den Folgen des Super-Gaus leiden müssen. Während in Deutschland die Folgen von Tschernobyl weitgehend verdrängt werden, ist es für die betroffenen Menschen in der Ukraine und in Weissrussland noch immer enorm schwer, radioaktiv unbelastete Nahrungsmittel und eine angemessene ärztliche Versorgung zu bekommen

Durch NRW wird der Atommülltransport am frühen Mittwochmorgen rollen. Zwei Routen sind möglich: Entweder rollt der hochradioaktive Atommüll über Bremen-Osnabrück-Münster nach Hamm oder über Verden-Minden-Bad Oeynhausen-Herford-Bielefeld nach Hamm. Von Hamm geht es über Lünen-Waltrop-Duisburg-Köln-Bonn weiter Richtung Frankreich.

Atomkraftgegner kündigten entlang der Transportstrecke mehrere Protestaktionen an, unter anderem in Münster und Waltrop. Erst am Samstag hatten 200 Menschen in Bad Oeynhausen gegen Atomtransporte demonstriert. Bereits morgen werden in Gronau um 17 Uhr an der Antoniuskirche und in Hamm-Uentrop ab 17 Uhr vor dem stillgelegten Atomreaktor THTR Protestaktionen stattfinden. Mit weiteren spontanen Aktivitäten am Mittwoch ist zu rechnen, da Polizei, BGS und Landesregierung den Castor-Transport und die genaue Strecke wie immer geheim halten.

Atommüll soll 2008 aus Frankreich nach Ahaus zurückrollen

Es zeigt sich erneut, dass das Münsterland, das Ruhrgebiet und Ostwestfalen von geheimen Atomtransporten quer durch Europa stark betroffen sind. Besonders brisant bei diesem Transport ist, dass der Atommüll ab 2008 aus Frankreich wieder nach Deutschland zurückrollen soll, unter anderem in das Zwischenlager Ahaus. Doch die rot-grüne Landesregierung in Düsseldorf unternimmt nichts, um diesen Atommülltourismus zu unterbinden. Wer weitere Atommüll-Transporte nach Ahaus verhindern will, muss auch gegen den jetzigen Atomtransport protestieren. Stattdessen bereitet die NRW-Landesregierung immer intensiver die 3 Castor-Transporte von Dresden nach Ahaus vor und baut die Urananreicherungsanlage in Gronau aus. Der rot-grüne Atomausstieg findet 19 Jahre nach Tschernobyl nur auf dem Papier statt.

Die Anti-Atomkraft-Initiativen aus Nordrhein-Westfalen fordern zum 19. Tschernobyl-Jahrestag ein Ende aller Atomtransporte und den sofortigen Ausstieg aus der Atomenergie. Die Gefahren der Atomenergienutzung sind nicht beherrschbar und dürfen nicht verharmlost werden. Wer trotzdem Atomanlagen weiter betreibt, ist für zukünftige Unfälle und Opfer direkt mitverantwortlich.

Bad Oeynhausen. Es hatte ein bisschen den Charakter eines alten Hippie-Festivals. Zumindest was die Musik vor dem Bahnhof anging. Dort versammelten sich am Samstagmittag 200 Gegner der Atom-Transporte vom sächsischen Rossendorf bei Dresden ins westfälische Zwischenlager Ahaus, deren Strecke Ende Mai möglicherweise auch quer durch Bad Oeynhausen verläuft. Unter den Augen eines riesigen Polizeiaufgebotes zogen die Teilnehmer der Demonstration vorbei am Schweinebrunnen hin zur Mindener Straße. Die war während der Kundgebung für eine halbe Stunde gesperrt.

Die Bevölkerung informieren ist das oberste Ziel der Anti-Atomkraft-Initiativen, die zur Demo aufgerufen hatten. "Wenn diese Strecke über Braunschweig, Hannover, Bad Oeynhausen und Osnabrück gewählt wird, ist hier ein Nadelöhr", warnte Matthias Eickhoff von der Wiga Münster. "Schon jetzt ist hier auf der B61 ein Verkehrschaos. Wann soll dann erst werden, wenn der Castor durchrollt?" Und so machte er gemeinsam mit Vertretern aus Ahaus und Münster sowie einigen Bad Oeynhausenern auf die Gefahr des Tages "X" aufmerksam.

Doch nicht nur das: "Wenn in den kommenden 30 Jahren einer der Behälter in Ahaus kaputt geht, muss er die ganze Strecke zurück bis Dresden transportiert werden. Kaputt", so Eickhoff. Und auch Dr. Jürgen Brettschneider, Arzt aus Bad Oeynhausen und Mitglied bei "Internationale Ärzte zur Vermeidung eines Atomkrieges", warnte vor den gesundheitlichen Risiken solcher Transporte: "Sollte die Strecke durch Bad Oeynhausen führen, wäre es nicht das erste Mal", erklärte er. Denn bereits in der Vergangenheit seien etliche Transporte per Bahn durch die Kurstadt gerollt: "Das wissen die Wenigsten."

200 Demonstranten waren gekommen. Und die zogen friedlich vom Bahnhof quer durch die Innenstadt über die Steinstraße bis zur Mindener Straße. Dort war erst einmal Pause. Für 30 Minuten blockierten sie sitzend, stehend und singend die Kreuzung. Stillstand auch auf der Mindener Straße aus Richtung Löhne. Auf mehrere Kilometer staute sich dort der Wochenendverkehr bis auf die A30.

"Alles friedlich", vermeldete Polizeipressesprecher Werner Wojahn. Neben Einsatzkräften aus dem Kreis Minden-Lübbecke, waren Ermittlungsdienste, die Bereitschaftspolizei aus Bielefeld sowie die Autobahnpolizei und der Bundesgrenzschutz (Bahnpolizei) im Einsatz. Die Einsatz-Stärke wurde nicht bekannt gegeben. Auf jeden Fall zogen sie auf der Mindener Straße mit ihrem enormen Aufgebot die Blicke der Autofahrer auf sich.

30 Minuten auf der Mindener Straße, dann setzte sich der Zug Richtung Rehme - über den "Alten Rehmer Weg" wieder in Bewegung. Und nach fast vier Stunden und einer Abschlusskundgebung gegenüber dem EFI wurden Transparente eingerollt, mitgebrachte Sonnenblumen eingepackt und der Heimweg angetreten. Bis zur nächsten Aktion.

19 Jahre Tschernobyl und die vermeintliche "Renaissance der Atomenergie"

Wann wird das knappe Uran zum Kriegsgrund?

Berlin, 25.04.2005 - Anlässlich des 19. Jahrestages der Atomkatastrophe von Tschernobyl weist die atomkritische Ärzteorganisation IPPNW darauf hin, dass die Atomenergie nicht nur Gesundheit und Umwelt sondern zugleich in hohem Maße die internationale Sicherheit gefährdet. Das immer knapper und teurer werdende Uran könnte schon bald zu Kriegen mit Bundeswehrbeteiligung führen.

"Wenn es darum geht, Kriegsursachen zu vermeiden, dann steht der unverzügliche Ausstieg aus der Abhängigkeit von Erdöl, Erdgas und Uran und der zügige Aufbau einer Solarwirtschaft an erster Stelle", so der IPPNW-Atomenergie-Experte Henrik Paulitz. "Die Diskussion um eine Renaissance der Atomenergie ist vor dem Hintergrund der knappen Uran-Reserven eine Geisterdebatte, die mit der realen Welt wenig zu tun hat", so Paulitz weiter. "Bei nüchterner Betrachtung müssen wir feststellen, dass die Energierohstoffe Erdöl, Erdgas und Uran immer knapper und teurer werden. Schon jetzt werden Kriege um das Erdöl geführt. Mit Russland tobt ein Wirtschaftskrieg um den Zugang zu den knappen Erdgasreserven. Wann marschiert die Bundeswehr in Namibia, Niger, Russland oder in Kasachstan ein, um dort die knappen Uranreserven für Deutschland zu sichern?"

Der Uranbedarf für die weltweit über 440 kommerziellen Atomkraftwerke liegt bei rund 62.000 Tonnen pro Jahr. Allein die Europäische Union hat einen jährlichen Bedarf von etwa 20.000 Tonnen Uran. Die "wirtschaftlich" gewinnbaren Uranreserven wurden von der Internationalen Atomenergie Organisation (IAEA) und der OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) im Jahr 1999 im so genannten "Red Book" ausgewiesen. Demnach sind - je nach Höhe der unterstellten Förderkosten - insgesamt noch zwischen 1,25 und 4 Millionen Tonnen Uran mehr oder weniger "wirtschaftlich" abbaubar. Es handelt sich zum Teil um gesicherte, zum Teil aber nur um vermutete Uranvorkommen.

Die Gesamtmenge des großteils nur sehr aufwendig und entsprechend teuer zu gewinnenden Urans reicht noch maximal etwa 65 Jahre lang. Die preislich günstigeren Reserven reichen gerade noch 20 Jahre lang.

Würde man die Atomkraftwerkskapazitäten ausbauen, wäre noch schneller Schluss. Nach den Vorstellungen der IAEA könnte sich der Uranbedarf bei einem Ausbau der Atomenergie bis zum Jahre 2050 auf insgesamt 7,6 Millionen Tonnen summieren. Angesichts der geschätzten Gesamtmenge von "wirtschaftlich" gewinnbarem Uran von nur 4 Millionen Tonnen wären die Reserven aber schon lange vor 2050 erschöpft. Schnelle Brutreaktoren, mit denen man ursprünglich die knappen Uranreserven zeitlich strecken wollte, sind weltweit aus Sicherheitsgründen und wegen der hohen Kosten gescheitert. In Deutschland wurde der Schnelle Brüter in Kalkar aufgegeben.

Angesichts des knappen Urans, des ungelösten Atommüllproblems und der Gefahren einer Atomkatastrophe kann die Atomenergie nach Auffassung der IPPNW kein Gegenstand einer seriösen Debatte um die zukünftige Energiepolitik mehr sein. "Die von der Atomlobby entfachte Diskussion um eine Renaissance wirkt, als wollte ein Kind sein Spielzeug nicht hergeben. Internationaler Protest gegen Urananreicherung: 80 DemonstrantInnen vor niederländischer Uranfabrik in Almelo

Rund 80 DemonstrantInnen, darunter auch 20 aus NRW und Niedersachsen, haben am Samstag (23.4.) im niederländischen Almelo anläßlich des 19. Tschernobyljahrestages demonstriert. Nach einer Auftaktkundgebung zog der Demonstrationszug zur Urananreicherungsanlage (UAA) vor den Toren der Stadt. Die UAA Almelo gehört ebenfalls wie die UAA in Gronau zum Urenco-Konzern. Vor der UAA gab es eine Abschlußkundgebung. Musikalisch unterstützt wurden die Kundgebungen von Martina Haase aus Aachen. Veranstalter der Demonstration war NENO, ein Bündnis verschiedener Friedens- und Anti-Atomkraft-Initiativen im niederländischen Grenzgebiet.

Bei der Auftaktkundgebung sprach Frank Slijper von der niederländischen Kampagne gegen Waffenhandel über die Zusammenhänge der Urananreicherung und der Weiterverbreitung der Atomwaffentechnologie. Anschließend informierte Jacob Visser über den erfolgreichen Prozess des Umweltverbandes Milieudefensie im Jahr 2004, durch den die Genehmigung zum Ausbau der UAA Almelo vorläufig gestoppt wurde. Er berichtete auch über den aktuellen Stand des neuen Genehmigungsverfahrens zum UAA-Ausbau. Der Anlagenausbau wurde erneut beantragt.

Bei der Abschlußkundgebung vor der Urananreicherungsanlage berichtete Udo Buchholz vom Arbeitskreis Umwelt (AKU) Gronau über den Widerstand gegen die UAA in Gronau, wobei er auch auf die diesjährigen Aktionen gegen die Urantransporte von Gronau durch die Niederlande nach Rußland einging und auch besonders die Aktionen in den Niederlanden positiv heraustellte. Abschließend wurde ein Grußwort der Münsteraner Initiative WIGA verlesen, in dem auch die drohenden Castor-Transporte nach Ahaus angesprochen wurden. Seitens NENO wurde bekundet, den Ahaus-Widerstand erneut konkret zu unterstützen.

Daß bei der Demonstration in Almelo viele Jugendliche und junge Erachsene waren, wertet der Arbeitskreis Umwelt (AKU) Gronau, der ebenfalls zur Teilnahme an der Demonstration aufgerufen hatte, als positives Zeichen. 2006 soll zum 20. Jahrestag der Tschernobylkatastrophe erneut eine Demonstration an der UAA Almelo staftfinden.

26.4.: 19. Tschernobyljahrestag - Mahnwache um 17 Uhr in Gronau / Antoniuskirche

Der Arbeitskreis Umwelt (AKU) Gronau ruft für Dienstag (26.4.) zur Teilnahme an einer Mahnwache vor der Gronauer Antoniuskirche (Neustraße) auf. Anlaß ist der 19. Jahrestag der Reaktorkatastrophe in Tschernobyl. Gleichzeitig soll gegen den Betrieb und Ausbau der Gronauer Urananreicherungsanlage (UAA), gegen Atomtransporte und für die sofortige Stilllegung aller Atomanlagen demonstriert werden. Die Mahnwache beginnt um 17 Uhr und dauert bis 18 Uhr.

Der AKU Gronau betont mit Nachdruck, daß vom versprochenen Atomausstieg noch lange keine Rede sein kann. Zwar begrüßt der AKU die angekündigte Stilllegung des AKW Obrigheim, Kommentar eines AKU-Mitglieds aber: "Eine Schwalbe macht nocht keinen Sommer!" Der AKU kritisiert, daß rund 19 Jahre nach Tschernobyl der Ausbau der Gronauer UAA genehmigt wurde, und daß direkt am Tschernobyljahrestag (26.4.) ein Castor-Atommülltranspoort vom norddeutschen AKW Stade zur Wiederaufarbeitungsanlage nach Frankreich starten soll. Durch NRW wird der Atommülltransport am frühen Mittwochmorgen rollen, die genaue Route ist noch unklar.

Die Mahnwache in Gronau ist im Zusammenhang mit vielen Protestaktionen zu sehen, die derzeit bundesweit, ja weltweit, an Tschernobyl erinnern und den Atomaustieg einfordern. Bereits am Wochenende gab es verschiedene Demonstrationen und auch direkt am Tschernobyljahrestag gibt es zum Beispiel in Hamm beim stillgelegten Reaktor und beim AKW Neckarwestheim Aktionen. International spielen die Gefahren der Urananreicherung und auch der Protest dagegen eine wichtige Rolle. So demonstrierten am Wochenende in Almelo (NL) deutsche und niederländische Anti-Atomkraft-Initiativen gegen die niederländische Urananreicherungsanlage westlich von Gronau in Almelo. Und in einem Wortbeitrag bei einer Kundgebung in Wien wird am Tschernobyltag ebenfalls das Thema Urananreicherung zur Sprache kommen.

EU soll Förderung der Atomenergie beenden - 1 Million Europäer "stimmen ab" zum 20. Tschernobyl-Jahrestag


Berlin (ots) - Der Bund für Umwelt und Naturschutz Deutschland (BUND) hat zum 19. Tschernobyl-Jahrestag ein Auslaufen des Euratom-Vertrages verlangt. Da der Vertrag zum Anhang der neuen EU-Verfassung gehöre, solle die Bevölkerung der Europäischen Union darüber entscheiden, ob sie den Atom-Privilegien aus diesem Vertrag zustimme oder nicht. Dafür wolle die Umweltorganisation gemeinsam mit anderen Anti-Atom-Initiativen europaweit bis zum 20. Jahrestag der Reaktorkatastrophe im kommenden Jahr eine Million Unterschriften sammeln. Die neue Verfassung verpflichte die EU-Kommission, aktiv zu werden, wenn eine Million Bürger dies forderten.

Renate Backhaus, Atomexpertin im BUND-Bundesvorstand: "Wir wollen, dass die Bürger ihre Verfassungsrechte auf europäischer Ebene wahrnehmen. Europa kann die Lehren aus Tschernobyl ziehen und die meisten Europäer wollen dies auch. Die Produktion von immer mehr Atommüll muss gestoppt, die Atomkraftwerke müssen stillgelegt werden.

Geeignete Endlager für deren strahlende Hinterlassenschaften sind ebenfalls nicht in Sicht. Die rot-grüne Bundesregierung kann ihre Hilflosigkeit bei diesem Thema nur schlecht kaschieren, indem sie die Vorlage des Endlagersuchgesetzes vor sich herschiebt. Das Problem lässt sich aber nicht aussitzen, es stellt sich jeden Tag mit immer größer werdenden Schärfe."

Zwar fördere die Mehrheit der EU-Mitgliedstaaten die Atomenergie nicht aktiv, dennoch leiste sich die EU mit Euratom eine Organisation, deren erklärtes Ziel die aktive Förderung der europäischen Nuklearindustrie sei. Dies erfolge durch die überdimensionierte Atomforschungsförderung aus Steuergeldern und mit Hilfe vergünstigter Kredite für AKW-Neubauten.

Ein völlig falsches Signal sei, wenn die EU-Kommission vorschlage, die Euratom-Forschungsgelder für den Zeitraum 2007 bis 2011 um 230 Prozent zu erhöhen. Allein für die Atomfusionstechnologie und den dazugehörigen Forschungsreaktor ITER sollen in diesem Zeitraum mehr als zwei Milliarden Euro ausgegeben werden, obwohl völlig unklar sei, ob die Fusionstechnik je einen Nutzen haben. Die EU-Forschungsgelder sollten stattdessen für erneuerbare Energien und mehr Energieeffizienz ausgegeben werden.

Ostwestfalen gegen Castoren

BAD OEYNHAUSEN dpa Rund 200 Atomkraftgegner haben am Wochenende in Bad Oeynhausen gegen die bevorstehenden Atommüll-Transporte vom sächsischen Rossendorf bei Dresden ins westfälische Zwischenlager Ahaus demonstriert. Die Kundgebung sei friedlich verlaufen, sagte ein Sprecher der Polizei. Die Demonstranten blockierten für eine halbe Stunde die Bundesstraße 61, die Teil einer möglichen Transportroute für die Castor-Behälter ist. Auf den Autobahnen 2 und 30 kam es deshalb zu kurzen Staus.

Die Transporte aus Rossendorf werden voraussichtlich kurz nach der Landtagswahl am 22. Mai nach Ahaus rollen. Die Landesregierung hatte sich auf Druck von Anti-Atom-Initiativen lange gegen die Transporte gesperrt. Das Bundesamt für Strahlenschutz erteilte dennoch die Genehmigung. Atom-Gegner haben für die kommenden Wochen weitere Protestaktionen angekündigt.

Wer etwas gegen Atomenergie tun will, muss sich nicht unbedingt vor einen Castor-Zug setzen. Das war die Botschaft der mehr als 120 TeilnehmerInnen der Fahrradstaffel "Vom Atom- zum Ökostrom", die am Sonnabend vom AKW Krümmel bis zum Sitz der Betreibergemeinschaft Windstrom Wedel in Altona radelten.

Slogans wie "e-off - fein, danke!" und "Ich bin ein Störfall" umrissen das Anliegen der Tour, zu der "X-tausendmal quer" und andere Gruppen aufgerufen hatten. Es ging darum, die Risiken der Atomenergie ins Bewusstsein zu rücken und die Passanten dazu zu bewegen, auf grünen Strom umzusteigen.

Die von der Initiative "Stromwechsel Jetzt!" empfohlene Energie muss atomfrei und klimafreundlich sein. Ein Teil des Erlöses muss in neue Öko-Kraftwerke investiert werden, auch darf der Anbieter keine Verbindungen zu Atomkraftwerksbetreibern haben. Deshalb sei ein Wechsel zu Anbietern wie Greenpeace Energy <http://www.ntsearch.com/search.php?q=Energy&v=56> , EWS oder Naturstrom AG ein "Tritt für die Atomindustrie".

Nahrungsmittel weiter durch Tschernobyl belastet

Brüssel (AFP) - Auch 19 Jahre nach der Reaktorkatastrophe im ukrainischen Atomkraftwerk Tschernobyl sind in der EU zahlreiche Nahrungsmittel wie Wildfleisch und Waldpilze noch hoch radioaktiv belastet. Dies gelte nicht nur für die am schwersten betroffenen Gebiete in der Ukraine und in Weißrussland, sondern selbst für Regionen Europas, die sehr weit vom Unglücksort entfernt liegen, bestätigte die EU-Kommission in ihrer Antwort auf eine parlamentarische Anfrage der Grünen-Europaabgeordneten Rebecca Harms.

In Wildfleisch, wild wachsenden Beeren, Wildpilzen und in Fleisch fressendem Fisch "aus bestimmten Regionen in Deutschland, Österreich, Italien, Schweden, Finnland, Litauen und Polen" werde zuweilen eine Belastung mit Caesium 137 erreicht, die vielfach über der zulässigen Höchstgrenze liege, heißt es in der Antwort weiter.

In Großbritannien gibt es noch Einschränkungen für den "Transport, Verkauf sowie das Schlachten von Schafen" insbesondere im Norden von Wales. Auch in Irland und Skandinavien würde die Radioaktivität von Schafs- beziehungsweise Rentierfleisch weiter regelmäßig überwacht.

Auch "in den kommenden Jahrzehnten" werde die radioaktive Belastung bestimmter Produkte nicht nennenswert zurückgehen. Der Verzehr bestimmter Nahrungsmittel müsse deshalb noch viele Jahre eingeschränkt bleiben.

ORANGE now intend to place a Mast on exactly the same site. They are aware of proximity to school and of previous campaign, but intend to proceed regardless.

A LEUKAEMIA sufferer is among a group of residents fighting plans for a 40-ft mobile phone mast.

Peter Wells, of Beauchamps Gardens, Chaseside, Bournemouth fears radiation from the proposed 3G mast could affect his health and is angry at the way the plans have been publicised.

And fellow residents on the Castledene estate have joined him in opposing the mast, claiming its location next to the grade two listed building Littledown House is unsuitable.

Mr Wells, 56, said: "I live no more than 50 yards from the site and the council didn't even bother to notify us. My leukaemia is in a stable condition now but I'm very worried that the stress of this application, combined with the effects of the mast, could kick-start it.

"I don't have a problem with them needing to put this mast somewhere, but this is the wrong place."

And Sandy Ward, of Hares Green, vowed: "I'll lie down on the ground before they put this post in place.

"The bare minimum of notification has gone up and the plans don't even show the housing estate.

"With a mast that high we should all have had letters through our doors."

Bournemouth council said it fulfilled its statutory obligation by putting notices up and the planning application would be considered in due course.

And Mike Dobson, community affairs manager for Hutchison 3G, said the company had written to local ward councillors to inform them of its planning application and had also notified Portchester and Avonbourne Schools.

Hutchison 3G has its own phone network and the mast is needed to enable the use of video mobile phones.

"From a health and safety point of view, there are very strict guidelines that we have to adhere to, set down by the International Commission of Non-Ionising Radiation Protection," he said.

"In reality the radio frequency energy levels will be thousands of times below those guidelines at ground level.

"We would like to reassure the local community that they have nothing to fear."

A plan to erect a mobile phone mast within the grounds of a Shropshire football club has been rejected.

Telecommunications company O2 wanted to move the existing floodlight column at the Crown Meadow ground in Bridgnorth and replace it with a mast.

The proposals met with opposition from many local people, including governors of the nearby St John's Primary School.

Bridgnorth District Council also rejected a plan by Vodafone to put up a mast on Mill Street, close to the A442.

To my understanding, the present WHO text violates at several points the Swedish and international regulations, human rights acts and handicap laws for persons with impairments.

FORMAL RESERVATION

In Sweden, electrohypersensitivity (EHS) is an officially fully recognized physical impairment (i.e., it is not regarded as a disease). Survey studies show that somewhere between 230,000 - 290,000 Swedish men and women report a variety of symtoms when being in contact with electromagnetic field (EMF)-sources.

The EHS persons have their own handicap organisation; The Swedish Association for the ElectroSensitive; http://www.feb.se (the website has an English version). This organisation is included in the Swedish Disability Federation (Handikappförbundens SamarbetsOrgan; HSO). HSO is the unison voice of the Swedish disability associations towards the government, the parliament and national authorities and is a cooperative body that today consists of 43 national disability organisations (where The Swedish Association for the ElectroSensitive is 1 of these 43 organisations) with all together about 500,000 individual members. Swedish municipalities, of course, have to follow the UN 22 Standard Rules on the equalization of opportunities for persons with disabilities ("Standardregler för att tillförsäkra människor med funktionsnedsättning delaktighet och jämlikhet"; about the UN 22 Standard Rules, see website:

All persons with disabilities shall, thus, be given the assistance and service they have the right to according to the Swedish Act concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments (LSS-lagen) and the Swedish Social Services Act (Socialtjänstlagen). Persons with disabilities, thus, have many different rights and can get different kinds of support. The purpose of those rights and the support is to give every person the chance to live like everyone else. Everyone who lives in the Swedish municipalities should be able to lead a normal life and the municipalities must have correct knowledge and be able to reach the persons who need support and service. Persons with disabilities shall be able to get extra support so that they can live, work, study, or do things they enjoy in their free time. The municipalities are responsible for making sure that everyone gets enough support. Everyone shall show respect and remember that such men and women may need different kinds of support.

In Sweden, impairments are viewed from the point of the environment. No human being is in itself impaired, there are instead shortcomings in the environment that cause the impairment (as the lack of ramps for the person in a wheelchair or rooms electrosanitized for the person with EHS). This environment-related impairment view, furthermore, means that even though one does not have a scientifically-based explanation for the impairment EHS, and in contrast to disagreements in the scientific society, the person with EHS shall always be met in a respectful way and with all necessary support with the goal to eliminate the impairment. This implies that the person with EHS shall have the opportunity to live and work in an electrosanitized environment.

This view can fully be motivated in relation to the present national and international handicap laws and regulations, including the UN 22 Standard Rules and the Swedish action plan for persons with impairments (prop. 1999/2000:79 "Den nationella handlingplanen för handikappolitiken - Från patient till medborgare"). Also the Human Rights Act in the EU fully applies.

A person is disabled when the environment contains some sort of impediments. It means that in that moment a man or woman in a wheelchair can not come onto the bus, a train, or into a restaurant, this person has a disability, he or she is disabled. When the bus, the train or the restaurant are adjusted for a wheelchair, the person do not suffer from his disability and are consequently not disabled. An EHS-person suffers when the environment is not properly adapted according to their personal needs. Strategies to enable a person with this disability to attend common rooms such as libraries, churches and so on, are for instance to switch off the high-frequency fluorescent lamps and instead use ordinary light bulbs. Another example is the possibility to switch off - the whole or parts of - the assistive listening systems (persons with EHS are often very sensitive to assistive listening systems).

In the Stockholm municipality - were I live and work as a scientist with the responsibility to investigate comprehensive issues for persons with EHS - such persons have the possibility to get their home sanitized for EMFs. It means for example that ordinary electricity cables are changed to special cables. Furthermore, the electric stove can be changed to a gas stove and walls, roof and floors can be covered with special wallpaper or paint with a special shelter to stop EMFs from the outside (from neighbours and mobile telephony base stations). Even the windows can be covered with a thin aluminum foil as an efficient measure to restrain EMFs to get into the room/home. If these alterations turn out not to be optimal they have the possibility to rent small cottages in the countryside that the Stockholm municipality owns. These areas have lower levels of irradiation than others. The Stockholm municipality also intend to build a village with houses that are specially designed for persons who are electrohypersensitive. This village will be located in a low-lewel irradiation area.

Persons with EHS also have a general (legal) right to be supported by their employer so that they can work despite of this impairment. For instance, they can get special equipment such as computers that are of low-emission type, that high-frequency fluorescent lamps are changed to ordinary light bulbs, no wireless DECT telephones in their rooms, and so on.

Some hospitals in Sweden (e.g. in Umeå, Skellefteå and Karlskoga) also have built special rooms with very low EMFs so that persons who are hypersensitive can get medical care. Another example is the possibility for persons who are electrohypersensitive to get a specially designed car so that the person can transport himself/herself between his/her home and their workplace.

Recently, some politicians in the Stockholm municipality even proposed to the politicians responsible for the subway in the Stockholm City that a part of every trainset should be free from mobile phones; that the commuters have to switch of the phones in these selected parts to enable persons with EHS to travel with the subway (compare this with persons who have an allergy for animal for whereupon people consequently is prohibited to have animals, such as dogs or cats, in selected parts of the trainset).

In addition, when the impairment EHS is discussed it is also of paramount importance that more general knowledge is needed with the aim to better adapt the society to the specific needs of the persons with this impairment. The Swedish "Miljöbalk" (the Environmental Code) contains an excellent prudence avoidance principle which, of course, most be brought into action also here, together with respect and willingness to listen to the persons with EHS.

Naturally, all initiatives for scientific studies of the impairment EHS must be characterized and marked by this respect and willingness to listen, and the investigations shall have the sole aim to help the persons with this particular impairment. The presently proposed WHO initiative seem to lack this aim and the suggested research programme rather seems to question, throw suspicion on, and - on very flimsy grounds - psychologize the impairment EHS. This is a set-up that completely is in contrast to Rule 13 in the UN 22 Standard Rules which clearly says that scientific investigations of impairments shall, in an unbiased way - and without any prejudice - focus on cause, occurrence and nature and with the sole and explicit purpose to help and support the person with the impairment. Nothing else!

In addition, it must also be mentioned that quite recently, by the end of 2004, The Irish Doctors' Environmental Association (IDEA) has announced that "they have identified a sub-group of the population who are particularly sensitive to exposure to different types of electromagnetic radiation. The safe levels currently advised for exposure to this non-ionising radiation are based solely on its thermal effects. However, it is clear that this radiation also has non-thermal effects, which need to be taken into consideration when setting these safe levels. The electrosensitivity experienced by some people results in a variety of distressing symptoms which must also be taken into account when setting safe levels for exposure to non-ionising radiation and when planning the siting of masts and transmitters. Furthermore, the IDEA also points out the following:

"1. An increasing number of people in Ireland are complaining of symptoms which, while they may vary in nature, intensity and duration, can be demonstrated to be clearly related to exposure to electro-magnetic radiation (EMR).

2. International studies on animals over the last 30 years have shown the potentially harmful effects of exposure to electro-magnetic radiation. In observational studies, animals have shown consistent distress when exposed to EMR. Experiments on tissue cultures and rats have shown an increase in malignancies when exposed to mobile telephone radiation.

3. Studies on mobile telephone users have shown significant levels of discomfort in certain individuals following extensive use or even, in some cases, following regular short-term use.

4. The current safe levels for exposure to microwave radiation were determined based solely on the thermal effects of this radiation. There is now a large body of evidence that clearly shows that this is not appropriate, as many of the effects of this type of radiation are not related to these thermal effects." Finally, The Irish Doctors' Environmental Association "believes that the Irish Government should urgently review the information currently available internationally on the topic of the thermal and non-thermal effects of exposure to electro-magnetic radiation with a view to immediately initiating appropriate research into the adverse health effects of exposure to all forms of non-ionising radiation in this country, and into the forms of treatment available elsewhere. Before the results of this research are available, an epidemiological database should be initiated of individuals suffering from symptoms thought to be related to exposure to non-ionising radiation. Those claiming to be suffering from the effects of exposure to electro-magnetic radiation should have their claims investigated in a sensitive and thorough way, and appropriate treatment provided by the State.

The strictest possible safety regulations should be established for the installation of masts and transmitters, and for the acceptable levels of potential exposure of individuals to electro-magnetic radiation, in line with the standards observed in New Zealand." Of course, these very recent findings must also be taken into serious consideration for any research proposal.

Dr Olle Johansson, Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden, provided scientific data as well as general information on Swedish men and women seeking medical care for skin symptoms in conjunction with VDT work. He informed us about the fact that persons with electrohypersensitivity has been fully recognized as an physical impairment, and that The Swedish Association for the ElectroSensitive has been likewise officially recognized as a handicap organization, both since 1993. The latter receives financial support from the government for its activities.

Dr Johansson has been studying skin biopsies from persons with the impairment electrohypersensitivity and reported that, in their skin, PGP 9.5-positive nerve fibres are scarce and short, and this might, in some way, lead to each nerve terminal having to work more and thus become supersensitive. He also found an increased number of mast cells in facial skin samples from persons with electrohypersensitivity. In addition to this, he also summarized a large number of other observations, both in persons with electrohypersensitivity as well as in normal healthy volunteers subjected to VDTs, mobile phones, etc.

You are correct by adding WHO's officials are "unscientific!!" Olle is being kind by stating they are "undemocratic!!!"

I just finished a chart depicting my grandsons (rare immune due to electric meters) and a 23 yr. old young man (dead due to Acute Myelogenous Leukemia) -- he had an electric clock and small fan only 6-8" from his head before he was diagnosed and also when he went home to rest from radiation and chemotherapy on and off for two months all the while not knowing he needed to be concerned about something called "EMF/EMR!!!"

My "unprofessional, stickmen drawings" may look juvenile but the message they convey brings immediate tears to my eyes!!! There are two boxes with smiling faces too because I was able to save my grandsons from Leukemia, Lymphoma, stomach or colon cancer or SIDS because hardworking, wonderful persons Marino, Becker, Sugarman, Nancy Wertman/Leeper and countless others were able to break through the rigid media blockade so that I eventually discovered what was killing my precious little ones.

I later had the privilege of discovering information about you and you were and are "a beacon in the dark" for our family and many others around the world -- you provided HOPE that not only was I correct about the cause of the boys' terrifying, bankrupting illnesses but that I might also be able to contribute toward efforts to save others. You are and were my "inspiration" and you deserve more thanks than any words could possibly convey!!!

Thanks also to Louis Slesin who has waged his own courageous "tight-rope battle" to help get-the-word out -- he too is a very articulate, wonderful person who is doing and has done his best!!! There are so many others as you know..........

WHO Repacholi et al censor leading expert's reservation - To the benefit of who?

Professor Olle Johansson, a leading world expert into electrical hypersensitivity, attended the October 2004 World Health Organisation "Workshop on EMF Hypersensitivity" in Prague. The organisers have refused to include this formal reservation in the summary of the workshop: In Sweden, electrohypersensitivity (EHS) is an officially fully recognized physical impairment (i.e., it is not regarded as a disease). Survey studies show that somewhere between 230,000 - 290,000 Swedish men and women report a variety of sym[p]toms when being in contact with electromagnetic field (EMF)-sources

After this last censure, I think is time to be closest and join together as an International Society on EMF & Health research to avoid be tear in pieces fighting no collectively; and being so humiliated constantly by the political-economical system composed by each of our respective governments and the scientific (?) organizations like EBEA etc. Lennart Hardell tried to start something some time ago but now is time to return to this idea again. We need our own directive, independents members and periodical meetings, without industrial sponsors as it is succeeding right now, very modestly but deeply scientific, and consequently openly fruitful for the society. Society that needs clear and no confuses messages as occurs now, like there is a positive effect but it is needed more research in order to verify former results….and bla,bla,bla…

Bouygues Télécom must dismount its antennas this week

This week, the antenna-relays of telephony mobile installed by Bouygues Télécom to the 47 street Froidevaux in the 14th district of Paris will have to be dismounted pursuant to a decision of court. National Association Robin des Toits is delighted with the residents to see disappearing this source from medical toxicity. Robin des Toits points out that this toxicity has just been the object, at the beginning of 2005, of two official recognitions:

* One by Professor Stewart, expert official council of the British government,

* the other by group IDEA, Nobel Prize of physique 1985 and member of WHO.

Robin des Toits also points out that this toxicity disappears if the operators respected the threshold of exposure of 0,6V/m as that comes out from many independent scientific work. Bisky unterzeichnet Saarbrücker Resolution: Hartz IV sofort zurücknehmen

Lothar Bisky gehört neben Oskar Lafontaine und Ottmar Schreiner zu den Erstunterzeichnern der Saarbrücker Resolution, mit der die Bundesregierung aufgefordert wird, das Gesetz für moderne Dienstleistungen am Arbeitsmarkt, auch Hartz IV genannt, sofort zurückzunehmen. Dazu erklärt der Vorsitzende der PDS:

Fast vier Monate nach Inkrafttreten von Hartz IV erweist sich die von der Bundesregierung als größte Arbeitsmarkt- und Sozialreform gepriesene Zusammenlegung von Arbeitslosen- und Sozialhilfe auf dem Niveau der Sozialhilfe immer mehr als das, was sie von Anfang an wahr: ein weit greifender Abbau des Sozialstaates, der dem Sozialstaatsgebot des Grundgesetzes zuwiderläuft. Es werden damit keine Existenz sichernden Arbeitsplätze geschaffen, die Betroffenen werden stattdessen in Ein-Euro-Jobs und Niedrigstlohnjobs gezwungen, die Vermittlungsbemühungen auf den ersten Arbeitsmarkt und die Arbeitsförderung liegen darnieder, Zehntausende fallen aus der Sozialversicherung und der Arbeitsvermittlung heraus, im ganzen Land drohen Zwangsumzüge für Hunderttausende.

Hartz IV ist ein Flop mit gefährlichen Armutsfolgen für Millionen. In der Saarbrücker Resolution werden wesentliche Kritikpunkte an Hartz IV benannt, die von der PDS geteilt werden. Insbesondere mit der von PDS-Landtagsfraktionen in Auftrag gegebenen gutachterlichen Stellungnahme werden weitere massive Verstöße gegen das Grundgesetz belegt, vor allem hinsichtlich der Leistungshöhe. Die Zahl der Gerichtsentscheidungen, die zu ähnlichen Schlüssen kommen, nimmt zu.

Hartz IV erweist sich mehr und mehr als Irrweg. Inzwischen versuchen sich Bundesregierung und Union an Nachbesserungen, ohne allerdings den fatalen Kern von Hartz IV korrigieren zu wollen: Hartz IV bringt nicht weniger, sondern mehr arme Arbeitslose.

Deshalb hat die Forderung, Hartz IV sofort zurückzunehmen, nichts an Aktualität verloren.
