Spring may well be my favorite season. But in addition to ushering in bright flowers and warmer days, it is also the season of renewed displays of economic ignorance and political demagoguery centered on everyone's favorite gripe: higher gasoline prices. When housing prices zoom upward, as they have done recently in many areas of the country, people consider this a sign of good times -- especially if you are a home owner.
