I'm sure President Bush thought that in his speech he was inspiring the American people to a higher calling. I have no doubt he believes his speech will sit in history beside John Kennedy's inaugural speech.

Bush has made it clear that he has a vision of reshaping the world, and that any country that doesn't get on his 'freedom train' is going to find themselves being squashed by the wheels of that train. GWB is not the first megalomaniac to think he is destined to recreate the world. Bush's predecessors in this ideology didn't succeed, but the others didn't have the finances and military power at their disposal Bush does. That being said, we have a military that is already stretched to the breaking point, so I don't know how anyone can expect to launch any more invasions without causing our military to collapse...
