Alberto Gonzales made a surprise statement before the U.S. Senate yesterday, saying, "Geneva was ratified in 1949 … and I think it is appropriate to revisit whether or not Geneva should be revisited." Instead of re-defining it or ignoring it, now Gonzales appears to want to gut protections for prisoners of war, including protections for U.S. soldiers.
