Bolton in Full Conflict with UN

John R. Bolton, the US ambassador to the United Nations, has voiced firm opposition to UN reorganization measures that the Bush administration fears would inhibit US authority to use force and place new legal obligations on countries to intervene where genocide, ethnic cleansing or war crimes were being committed.

National Guard at Breaking Point in Iraq and Gulf

On Aug. 1, a spokesman for the Louisiana National Guard lamented to a local reporter that the state might be stretched for security personnel in the event of a big hurricane. Dozens of high-water vehicles, generators and Humvees were employed in Iraq, along with 3,000 Louisiana National Guard troops.

No One Can Say They Didn't See It Coming

In 2001, FEMA warned that a hurricane striking New Orleans was one of the three most likely disasters in the US. But the Bush administration cut New Orleans flood control funding by 44 percent to pay for the Iraq war.

Disasters Keep Coming but FEMA Phased Out

In the days to come, as the nation copes with the disastrous aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, we will be reminded how important it is to have a federal agency capable of dealing with natural catastrophes of this sort. ... Which makes it all the more difficult to understand why the country's premier agency for dealing with such events - FEMA - is being, in effect, systematically downgraded and all but dismantled by the Department of Homeland Security.

President Bush knew about New Orleans in 2001

With all due respect, I think some of you missed the point of my e-mail regarding the fact that president Bush knew about New Orleans in 2001!!

To use a fine Southern word, it's tacky to start playing the blame game before the dead are even counted. It is not too soon, however, to make a point that needs to be hammered home again and again, and that is that government policies have real consequences in people's lives.

This is not "just politics" or blaming for political advantage. This is about the real consequences of what governments do and do not do about their responsibilities. And about who winds up paying the price for those policies.

My e-mail was for everyone in the path of Hurricane Katrina who ever said, "I'm sorry, I'm just not interested in politics," or, "There's nothing I can do about it," or, "Eh, they're all crooks anyway."

Nothing to do with me, nothing to do with my life, nothing I can do about any of it. Look around you this morning. I suppose the National Rifle Association would argue, "Government policies don't kill people, hurricanes kill people." Actually, hurricanes plus government policies kill people.

One of the main reasons New Orleans is so vulnerable to hurricanes is the gradual disappearance of the wetlands on the Gulf Coast that once stood as a natural buffer between the city and storms coming in from the water. The disappearance of those wetlands does not have the name of a political party or a particular administration attached to it. No one wants to play, "The Democrats did it," or, "It's all Reagan's fault." Many environmentalists will tell you more than a century's interference with the natural flow of the Mississippi is the root cause of the problem, cutting off the movement of alluvial soil to the river's delta.

But in addition to long-range consequences of long-term policies like letting the Corps of Engineers try to build a better river than God, there are real short-term consequences, as well. It is a fact that the Clinton administration set some tough policies on wetlands, and it is a fact that the Bush administration repealed those policies--ordering federal agencies to stop protecting as many as 20 million acres of wetlands.

Last year, four environmental groups cooperated on a joint report showing the Bush administration's policies had allowed developers to drain thousands of acres of wetlands.

Does this mean we should blame President Bush for the fact that New Orleans is underwater? No, but it means we can blame Bush when a Category 3 or Category 2 hurricane puts New Orleans under. At this point, it is a matter of making a bad situation worse, of failing to observe the First Rule of Holes (when you're in one, stop digging).

Had a storm the size of Katrina just had the grace to hold off for a while, it's quite likely no one would even remember what the Bush administration did two months ago. The national press corps has the attention span of a gnat, and trying to get anyone in Washington to remember longer than a year ago is like asking them what happened in Iznik, Turkey, in A.D. 325.

Just plain political bad luck that, in June, Bush took his little ax and chopped $71.2 million from the budget of the New Orleans Corps of Engineers, a 44 percent reduction. As was reported in New Orleans CityBusiness at the time, that meant "major hurricane and flood projects will not be awarded to local engineering firms. Also, a study to determine ways to protect the region from a Category 5 hurricane has been shelved for now."

The commander of the corps' New Orleans district also immediately instituted a hiring freeze and canceled the annual corps picnic.

Our friends at the Center for American Progress note the Office of Technology Assessment used to produce forward-thinking plans such as "Floods: A National Policy Concern" and "A Framework for Flood Hazards Management." Unfortunately, the office was targeted by Newt Gingrich and the Republican right, and gutted years ago.

In fact, there is now a governmentwide movement away from basing policy on science, expertise and professionalism, and in favor of choices based on ideology. If you're wondering what the ideological position on flood management might be, look at the pictures of New Orleans--it seems to consist of gutting the programs that do anything.

Unfortunately, the war in Iraq is directly related to the devastation left by the hurricane. About 35 percent of Louisiana's National Guard is now serving in Iraq, where four out of every 10 soldiers are guardsmen. Recruiting for the Guard is also down significantly because people are afraid of being sent to Iraq if they join, leaving the Guard even more short-handed.

The Louisiana National Guard also notes that dozens of its high-water vehicles, Humvees, refuelers and generators have also been sent abroad. (I hate to be picky, but why do they need high-water vehicles in Iraq?)

This, in turn, goes back to the original policy decision to go into Iraq without enough soldiers and the subsequent failure to admit that mistake and to rectify it by instituting a draft.

The levees of New Orleans, two of which are now broken and flooding the city, were also victims of Iraq war spending. Walter Maestri, emergency management chief for Jefferson Parish, said on June 8, 2004, "It appears that the money has been moved in the president's budget to handle homeland security and the war in Iraq."

This my friends, is why we need to pay attention to government policies, not political personalities, and to know whereon we vote. It is about our lives.

Decent Into Hell: Frantic Acts For Survival

Foreign help for hurricane help declined

August 31, 2005

Devastation 200 miles wide & 50-100 miles inland = Tens of thousands died

The cover up has begun. The martial law they've declared is partly for the purpose of gathering and disposing of bodies and body parts without too many seeing them do it. The wall of water was similar to a tsunami, an incredible 30 feet high. Unlike a tsunami there were winds and rain blowing 100-150 miles an hour sideways creating white out conditions and destroying buildings, homes, and taking lives two ways. The ptb have had to admit that hundreds are dead. Tens of thousands dead could be very conservative.

It's nice to know this infinite world of form is an illusion.

"Descent Into Hell", 50,000 Lives Bring Apocalyptic Warning to All Citizens of United States, the World Cries "You Are Not Alone", They Cannot Hear By: Sorcha Faal, and as reported to her Russian Subscribers Russian Intelligence reports are stating this morning that the grave situation developing in the American City of New Orleans can only be described as a "Decent Into Hell", as to this hour over 50,000 human beings of this once great American City remain trapped by rising flood waters with no means for their Government to evacuate all of them. With no resources available for food, water, shelter, or evacuation, the masses of these peoples have become one of the largest unruly mobs in modern history, and with no police or military forces able to contain them they are presently running rampant throughout what remains of this city in what these reports describe as "frantic acts for survival". Numerous gun battles between portions of these "mobs" and police forces yesterday had caused their Military Authorities to completely leave this city and declare a State of Martial Law. FSB reports state that many of these gun battles were the result of drug addicts breaking into a large pharmaceutical establishment because of these drug addicts needing drugs to keep from suffering "withdrawals". These FSB reports further state that this city has broken down into complete "mob rule", with many innocent civilians shot and "numerous" dead bodies lying in the streets. To the greater issue however is that the American people are viewing for the first time, in many of their memories, what the limitations of State power really are. Only by the deception of words is any government, of any kind, been able to exercise tyrannical authority over their citizens. To the citizens of New Orleans, and among their poorest, who have been left behind and cut off from their normal daily functions, the fallacy of any government being able to control the masses of its citizens is laid completely bare.

Being kept from these American people also by their Military Rulers have been the uncounted offers of assistance from Nations all around the world, including: Venezuela has offered their Medical Airlift Command for the evacuation of peoples trapped in these devastated regions; Holland has offered the resources of their Public Works Ministry (and who are the acknowledged World Experts for below sea level water evacuation procedures); Russia has offered over 100,000 temporary living structures, along with Military Personal to assist their American counterparts; Iran has offered 1 Billion US Dollars in immediate assistance and guaranteed 5,000,000 barrels of oil at $35.00 US Dollars; China has offered their Military Rescue Forces (who are acknowledged as one of the best in the world for rescuing peoples in flood ravaged areas.) All of these offers, and more, the Military Leaders of the United States have declined, and for the their previously stated reason: "The United States Government and its People Respectfully Decline your offer of assistance and refer you to our previous State Department Bulletin (NCO:13788) in which we had stated that this remains an internal action." This morning remains one of the most critical times in the history of these once great people in America. Only through such unprecedented cataclysms such as they are currently experiencing are they able to break through the lies and distortions of their Military Leaders and Propaganda Media Organs to see, even glimpse, the wholesale lies they are told in order to keep them in a pacified state. But sadly, and as the events of September 11, 2001 clearly show, the mass of these Americans are willing to believe any and all lies they are told, no matter how absurd, as long as they can be left with the illusion that their lives today will continue into their tomorrows. How sad it is for them to see their world in these terms, but it remains a fact that this is indeed the only way they can cope with a world disintegrating around them.

Ethnocide and genocide against the First Peoples of the Kalahari - the Bushmen

Crack down on the Botswana overlord governance and their corporate stirrup holders wherever you find them! BOYCOTT BOYCOTT BOYCOTT and CUT BOTSWANA BUSINESS AND THEIR PRESENT GOVERNANCE OUT FROM ANYTHING AND WHEREVER YOU FIND THEM ! - Until they stop the ethnocide and genocide against the First Peoples of the Kalahari - the Bushmen!

KICK THE PRESENT BOTSWANA GOVERNANCE OUT OF THE UN, since they do not listen to the findings of the UN High Commissioner on Human Rights and his Special Rapporteur anyway!

BOTSWANA is persistently violating ILO 169! http://www.khoisanpeoples.org/indepth/ind-ilo-no-169.htm

And like in Namibia and South-Africa, European and other Northern World interests in natural resources exploitation together with massive proselytism by the churches, the overlord governance in Botswana is guilty of genocide and crimes against humanity, which must bring them and their corporate allies in crime before the International Criminal Court of Justice.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) was established in 2002 as a permanent tribunal to prosecute individuals for genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes, as defined by several international agreements, most prominently the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

1 September 2005

The Botswana government's lead attorney in the Bushman case was today ordered to be arrested and imprisoned. In some of the most extraordinary scenes ever witnessed in any high court, attorney Sidney Pilane, refusing to allow any policeman to touch him, fled arrest in a vehicle driven by another government witness, the Assistant Director of Parks. In a separate development, the government announced the closure of the Bushmen's reserve to visitors for 'administrative reasons'.

As special advisor to the President, Pilane may be hoping that his power surpasses that of the Botswana judiciary. He repeatedly refused to stand up when the judges were speaking to him. He was warned twice that unless he did so he would be cited for contempt. He still refused to stand up, leaving the court little alternative than to commit him to prison.

The court ordered he should be arrested immediately and brought back to court on Monday morning. This was the climax of Pilane's examination of the state's star 'expert witness', American ecologist and former employee of the Botswana government, Kathleen Alexander. Pilane was questioning her on material that the judges had already ruled should not be discussed. (A minute-by-minute account of this morning's events in court is appended below.)

Alexander had already made no secret of her contempt for tribal peoples and hunter-gatherers. She wants them all out of any protected areas in order to favour the animal inhabitants. Echoing remarks made by the president, she said that they had to evolve, claiming that 'culture' had nothing to do with ancestral land and they could practise it anywhere.

Amongst her asides was her comparison of inbreeding amongst animals 'to what happened to the ruling elite in England. The Queen's people would stay together and not mix.' Although she claims to want everyone out of all protected areas, she herself lectures to American tourists - inside game reserves - who each pay US$10,000, plus tips, for their trip.

Reacting to the fact that one of the Bushman's lawyers is British and that their case is funded by donations raised internationally, Pilane last week said, 'We do not want Europe to interfere and tell us what to do or not to do. We resent their involvement in our affairs. They should leave us alone.' The Bushman case is already the longest and most costly in Botswana's history, despite being brought by the country's poorest inhabitants.

A severe crackdown on the Bushmen was revealed by Survival last week. One of those recently tortured for hunting has died, others have been arrested, their own organisation has been barred from their reserve, and so have their lawyers. Guards have been posted around the reserve to stop Bushmen returning home. The government has even changed the country's constitution, removing what Bushman protection it enshrined.

Today, the government reinforced its determination to remove the Bushmen and end their way of life by announcing that no visitors would be allowed into their reserve, 'for administrative reasons', until further notice. Bushmen who have defied the government and returned to their lands after being thrown out in 2002 have been barred from using radio transmitters to talk to the outside world. From now on, whatever happens to the Bushmen in the Reserve will take place behind closed doors.

The government is clearly angered by the international media which has reported extensively on its attacks on the Bushmen. The latest journalists to go in were from the BBC TV's most prestigious news programme, 'Newsnight'.

In response to the latest developments, Survival today called for a total boycott of Botswana tourism and of its diamonds, mined and sold by the government and De Beers.

Stephen Corry, Survival's director, said today, 'History is now being written. The destruction of so many American Indians and Australian Aborigines are some of the most shameful chapters in the history of recent centuries. If the Botswana government is not brought to its senses very quickly now, our own century will see the calculated and deliberate destruction of the central Kalahari Bushmen. Unfortunately none of the signs are good. The government is already on trial in its own country. Its own lawyer has fled arrest. If the court buckles, then this trial spells more than the end of the Gana and Gwi Bushmen. The 'higher court' of world opinion is perhaps the only hope left.'

Background to the ordered arrest of the government's attorney on 1 September 2005

1. In July 2005, Dr Alexander and a number of government officials entered the Central Kalahari Game Reserve to conduct an inspection.

2. The Bushmen's lawyers were given no notice of the visit and no opportunity to advise their clients whether they should cooperate with Dr Alexander and the officials.

3. They objected to the introduction of any evidence from Dr Alexander about what she had seen or done during the inspection. On Tuesday 30 August, their objection was upheld, so that Dr Alexander was not permitted to give any evidence of what she claimed to have seen in July.

4. By Thursday 1 September, Dr Alexander had been in the witness box for seven days. She was still being asked questions by Mr Pilane. Mr Pilane asked her whether she had seen diseased animals in the reserve and Dr Alexander said that she had. The Bushmen's Counsel asked Mr Pilane to clarify when it was that she claimed to have seen the diseased animals, so as to establish whether the evidence was precluded by the order which the Court had made on Tuesday.

5. When Mr Pilane declined to do so the Court itself asked Dr Alexander to clarify when it was that she claimed to have seen diseased animals. She replied, 'In July'.

6. Mr Pilane requested a five-minute adjournment, which was granted. After the adjournment, Mr Pilane did not appear in court until after the judges had already returned and resumed their positions on the bench.

7. There was then a discussion between the court and Mr Pilane in the course of which Mr Pilane sat down. When he was asked to stand up, he repeatedly declined to do so. He was offered two opportunities to explain why he should not be cited for contempt, and did not accept that he was in contempt. The court then ruled that he was in contempt, and that he should immediately be arrested and taken to prison. It directed that he should be brought back before the court at 9.30 on Monday morning, when the attorney general should also appear. After the court rose several police officers attended court to arrest Mr Pilane. He declined to accompany them and was driven from the court in a government vehicle.

Das Mobilfunkversorgungskonzept der Stadt Attendorn: Informationsbroschüre

Das Mobilfunkversorgungskonzept der Stadt Attendorn

Constitutional crisis: The Iraqi charter is illegal and disastrous

The American Prospect
by Robert Dreyfuss

President Bush, whose tattered Iraq policy finally came utterly unglued this week, now faces two unpalatable -- and politically deadly -- futures in Iraq. With the most recent polls showing approval ratings for Bush at 36 percent and dropping, the news from Iraq reads like a continuing obituary for his presidency, and the signs from Capitol Hill are that the Republicans are rapidly realizing the Bush-Cheney White House is a sinking ship. It's going to get a lot worse. ... Illegal, I say, because it was delivered past the legal deadline, without the full support of the constitutional committee designed to write it, and without its Shia and Kurdish authors bothering to seek a vote approving the draft in the Iraqi National Assembly. So let's consider the two options facing Bush...

Will the new national ID track your movements?

Foundation for Economic Education
by James Plummer

By the end of September virtually unaccountable bureaucrats inside the Department of Homeland Security will likely have decided whether the new de facto national ID card will broadcast your sensitive identification information wherever you go -- Minority Report style. This comes as a result of the REAL ID Act. REAL ID was signed into law in May. As a result of negotiations over the intelligence-reform bill passed last December, the law had been attached to the first 'must-pass' bill of 2005, which turned out to be 'emergency' spending for the Iraq war. Thus a vote against this national ID would have been spun as a vote 'against the troops' as well...

Where the National Guard belongs

Common Dreams
by Norman Solomon

The men and women of the National Guard shouldn't be killing in Iraq. They should be helping in New Orleans and Biloxi. The catastrophic hurricane was an act of God. But the U.S. war effort in Iraq is a continuing act of the president. And now, that effort is hampering the capacity of the National Guard to save lives at home. Before the flooding of New Orleans drastically escalated on Tuesday, the White House tried to disarm questions that could be politically explosive. 'To those of you who are concerned about whether or not we're prepared to help, don't be, we are,' President Bush said. 'We're in place, we've got equipment in place, supplies in place, and once the -- once we're able to assess the damage, we'll be able to move in and help those good folks in the affected areas.' Echoing the official assurances, CBS News reported: 'Even though more than a third of Mississippi's and Louisiana's National Guard troops are either in Iraq or supporting the war effort, the National Guard says there are more than enough at home to do the job.' But after New Orleans levees collapsed and the scope of the catastrophe became more clear, such reassuring claims lost credibility. ... Let's use the Internet today to forward and post this demand so widely that the politicians in Washington can no longer ignore it: Bring the National Guard home. Immediately...

Sorry, Mr. President, you're no FDR

by Fred Kaplan

A little history is a dangerous thing, and George W. Bush has been sipping from its well all too skimpily. Last week, in an effort to put a positive spin on the breakdown of Iraq's constitutional assembly, the president noted that Federalist America went through a decade of turbulence before completing its own constitution -- a dreadful analogy, in part because the two situations are so radically different, but more because, if the comparison were apt, it would imply that Iraq will be a cauldron of blood and chaos for many decades to come. Now, President Bush is going further -- this time, gulping more than anyone should have to swallow -- likening the nature, scope, and stakes of America's battle in Iraq to those of World War II...

The new census: An all-out assault on your privacy

International Society for Individual Liberty
by Jarret Wollstein

The federal government has quietly begun using an incredibly intrusive new census form called 'The American Community Survey.' Up to 1 million households a year will receive this form. This new 'census' form is 24-pages long, and demands that you lay bare every detail of your life, including how much you earn, what your home is worth, details of your health, when you leave for work, previous addresses, pregnancies, monies received from government, and on and on. I say demand because you can be fined up to $1,000 for each of the 72 questions you don’t answer or which you answer 'incorrectly.' However, so far no one has been fined for not answering, nor are they likely to be if public resistance is strong...

Cindy Sheehan protest hits the road

San Francisco Chronicle

Even though Cindy Sheehan is likely to leave Crawford, Texas, this morning without having accomplished her goal of meeting with President Bush, there's little doubt the Vacaville resident brought renewed energy and attention to the anti-war movement through her story of grief. But Sheehan's story became a phenomenon in part because she was surrounded by a press corps starving for stories outside Bush's ranch in the slow news days of August. The next test of the anti-war movement's revival -- and Bush's support for the war -- will come over the next couple of weeks. That's when three vanloads of Iraq war veterans and military parents, including others who have lost children in the war, will wend through the nation's politically red states to carry on the question that defined Camp Casey: For what cause did Sheehan's son Casey and other U.S. troops die in Iraq?

Ohio: Officials indicted in '04 recount

Cleveland Plain Dealer

Two Cuyahoga County elections officials were indicted Tuesday on charges of not handling ballots correctly during the recount of the 2004 presidential election. Kathleen Dreamer, manager of the board's ballot department, and the assistant manager, Rosie Grier, were each charged with six counts of failing to follow Ohio laws that spell out how ballots are selected and reviewed during a recount. ... The charges stem from a complaint first raised last December by Toledo lawyer Richard Kerger, who watched over the recount on behalf of two third-party candidates. ... [Prosecutor Kevin J.] Baxter would not offer details of his investigation but said he examined allegations that officials took 'measures in order to all but assure that there would not be a countywide hand count'...

Storm blogs offer Katrina insight
BBC News [UK]

The web has once again proved its worth as a news source as blogs offered a vivid description of the destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina. As the storm carved a path through southern US, weblogs provided first-hand accounts of those affected. Mainstream media outlets in New Orleans found the web an invaluable asset as their offices were flooded. Web tracking firm Technorati reported that seven of the top 10 search terms were hurricane-related on Tuesday. According to internet measurement firm Keynote Systems, some websites were unable to cope with demand for Katrina-related news. Wikipedia, the user-generated net encyclopaedia, provided video coverage of the hurricane and regularly updated reports on the storms history and effects...

Blogs from the Inside

The convention center is next to the Mississippi River. Many people who are sleeping there feel that a boat is going to come and get them. Or they think a bus is going to come. But no buses have come. No boats have come. They think water is going come. No water has come. And they have no food.

As we drove by, people screamed out to us -- "Do you have water? Do you have food? Do you have any information for us?"

We had none of those.

Probably the most disturbing thing is that people at the convention center are starting to pass away and there is simply nothing to do with their bodies. There is nowhere to put them. There is no one who can do anything with them. This is making everybody very, very upset.

30,000 students in India demand a safe future for the world's children from UN World Leaders Summit

For more details visit:

Lucknow, 1st September:

On behalf of around 30,000 students of City Montessori School, Lucknow and world's two billion children about 7,000 students of CMS took out a grand World Unity March demanding the Heads of State and Government of various countries, who are going to participate in the 2nd Millennium Summit being held at New York, USA, from 14 to 16 September 2005, to take decisive steps for a New World Order that will ensure a safe future for the two billion children of the world as well as the succeeding generations. It may be recalled that the agenda of the UN World Summit including decisions pertaining to reform and democratization of the United Nations for making it more effective. The CMS students have appealed to all the Presidents and Prime Ministers of the World that the time has come to abolish veto powers in the world and establish the rule of law. They should lay the foundation of a World Government in which there is Rule of Law and not the Rule of powerful nations that enjoy veto powers. Only then can we save the world from destruction.

The World Unity March by CMS students began at Kailashpuri Chauraha and moved via the Hind Nagar crossing, LDA Colony, Kanpur Road ending at the CMS World Unity Convention Centre at CMS Kanpur Road Branch. The marching children held placards demanding a united and peaceful world. Other slogans demanded rule of law worldwide, abolishing of veto power system in the UNO, and enforceable international law. A delegation of six CMS students addressed the gathering of students and delivered the appeal to world leaders participating in the UN World Summit in September, asking them to ensure that children of the world and future generations inherit a safe and healthy ecology because it is the inter-generational responsibility of every generation to pass a safe and healthy ecology to the next generation. The children also appealed for enactment of enforceable international law by a duly constituted world law making body, banning all weapons of mass destruction — including nuclear, chemical and biological. They also demanded ecological conservation efforts aimed at halting global warming and ensuring sustainable development for all.

The Minister for Higher Education, U.P., Hon’ble Mr Ram Asrey Vishwakarma and the Vice-Chancellor of Lucknow University, Mr R. P. Singh inspired and encouraged the students at the World Unity March which was led by 300 girls of CMS Degree College, Lucknow. At CMS Degree College, Kanpur Road, the World Unity March converted into a large assembly of students in which some students presented their views on world unity and appealed to the World Leaders for a New World Order. Shri Ram Asrey Vishwakarma, Minister for Higher Education U.P. Govt. highly appreciated the value based Quality Education of CMS and the global exposure that is being given to its students making them sensitive to the problems of mankind.

Speaking on the occasion, Pallavi Srivastava of CMS Gomtinagar Branch said that the agenda for the UN Summit being held from 14 to 16 September 2005 included reforming the UN, as per the recommendations of Dr Kofi Annan, the UN Secretary General, who had sent his recommendations for UN reform titled "In Larger Freedom" to all heads of state and government.

Nupur Singh of CMS Gomtinagar Branch pointed out that when the UNO was established sixty years ago, there was just one country with a few nuclear bombs, the USA. Today, the USA has about 12,070 nuclear warheads while Russia has 22,500; France has 500; China has 450; UK has 380; India has 65 and Pakistan has 25 nuclear bombs. Together these seven countries have nearly 36,000 nuclear warheads while about eighty countries are said to possess deadly chemical and biological weapons.

Aparna Bajpai of CMS Mahanagar (NB) Branch said that in a historic judgement dated July 8th 1996, the International Court of Justice declared the use, or even the threat of use, of nuclear weapons - no matter what the circumstance-would be "contrary to the rules of international law applicable in armed conflict". Unfortunately, the decisions of the International Court of Justice have no legal enforceability and thus the world's stockpile of nuclear weapons continues to grow, threatening the very survival of life on planet earth.

Rahul Siddharth of CMS Mahanagar (3rd Building) Branch emphasized that if we have to save humankind from the impending catastrophes of a nuclear holocaust or eco-disaster and from the vicious threat of international terrorism, humanity has to find a common thread for binding all the countries of the world into one global family.

Divyansh Verma of CMS Mahanagar (3rd Building) Branch urged all heads of state and government to accept recommendations of Dr Kofi Annan and to ensure the UN Summit takes a positive decision on reforming the United Nations. He also recalled that Dr Kofi Annan has been repeatedly emphasizing for the last two years that no meaningful reform of the UN is possible without reforming the Security Council and therefore urged abolition of the highly discriminatory veto power system in the Security Council.

Shubhi Kamal of CMS Rajajipuram Branch demanded inclusion of a distinct and separate "Right to a Safe Future" in the "UN Declaration of Rights of the Child" as this would be a strong recognition of the right of world's children to inherit a safe and healthy ecology and could serve as a basis for banning all weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear, chemical and biological, since these are a threat to ecology and thus violate the right of generations yet unborn to inherit a safe and healthy ecology.

Renowned educationist and Founder-Manager of CMS, who has lit the whole world with the flame of World Unity, Mr Jagdish Gandhi, said that CMS has been running a campaign since 1999 asking the UN and world leaders to form a democratic World Government because the world’s problems can no longer be solved by national governments; what we need is World Government. For his campaign to abolish nuclear weapons and ban nuclear testing to ensure safe, healthy ecology for world's children and promotion of his novel concept that "Enforceable International Law is the idea whose time has come", Mr Gandhi has been hailed as a champion for the cause of world's children and regarded as a visionary like Victor Hugo who once said "There is one thing stronger than all the armies of the world and that is an idea whose time has come". The world leaders have written to Mr Gandhi stating that his demand for "Enforceable International Law" is "highly appropriate" and "timely", and "deserves widespread support".

This CMS campaign has received support from numerous heads of state, heads of government, chief justices and eminent leaders from all over the world. All these messages of support can be read by anyone on the school’s website at

In diesen Fall kommt jetzt übrigens Bewegung.

Bad Joke

Think about it: the Constitution presented the day before yesterday will make Iraq a state far more Islamist than any contemplated at the outset of the war against Saddam Hussein's regime, and now here's al-Sadr who wants it to be even more so.

After 5 years of laughing off or suppressing sound policy advice, the criminal neglect of our REAL homeland security by the Bush administration has now resulted in the total loss of a major American city. And where is our National Guard and all their equipment that are supposed to be here to protect and save us? They are being ground up in the sand half a planet away for absolutely nothing but the arrogant, uncaring and obstinate pride of our chief executive, who is mentally incapable of admitting or correcting any mistake ever. We must DEMAND that our National Guard come home now.

The form above will send your personal message to all your members of Congress, and now you can send a letter also to the editor of your nearest daily newspaper at the SAME time, all with one click. Our troops in Iraq need to come home immediately. Not a year from now, not a month from now, NOW now. Is there not a SINGLE politician with the courage to stand up and speak the truth. When enough of US speak up it will happen. We must take PERSONAL responsibility for our government and what it does. Why are you not clicking on the action form below right now?

Is it the destiny of our country to be utterly destroyed in pursuit of vain foreign conquests, as was Rome so many centuries ago, to where they could no longer protect their own homeland? Is that what is meant by the words "finish the job"? What insanity misled us to this terrible PREVENTABLE tragedy, where pleas for critically needed levee repairs were ignored to finance war profits and tax cuts for this administration's personal cronies. They can't even recruit for the National Guard anymore because it's nothing but a ticket straight to a desert hellhole. Bring the guard home now.

Please take action NOW! Forward this information to everyone you know, and encourage its posting on blogs and websites.

Unterschriftenübergabe des Freiburger Appell an WHO

Chemtrails Coming Out Of The Closet?
By William Thomas

Nearly seven years after extensive "lay downs" of lingering and spreading white plumes were first reported smearing skies over across North America, Europe is in an uproar and Washington could be close to coming clean about chemtrails.

At least the Bush White house will soon have a legitimate weather control agency to finally "launder" one of the biggest cons ever perpetrated.

Introduced in the US Senate on March 1, 2005, Bill S517 calls for a US "Weather Modification Advisory and Research Board" to officially commence operations in October 2005. When passed as expected, this law will make large-scale chemical alteration of the atmosphere legal across a formerly free and beautiful land called America.

It's already happening. Less than two weeks before the bill was introduced, Linda wrote from "up here in the mountains of northeast Georgia" of the worst spray day she had ever seen. "Not one day in the past two months have we had a blue sky with normal clouds," Linda wrote. Even normal clouds "are 'laced' with whatever the hell is coming out of those white planes that have no engine sounds, even when they fly low enough to see there is no printing anywhere on the planes."

Several years ago the US Air Force stated that it was repainting its silver aircraft white, and retrofitting its jet tanker fleet with "hush kits" to silence their engines.

Whatever fresh environmental disaster Bill S517 accomplishes, this bill will ease the way for admission of a project suspected by many and confirmed by air traffic controllers at America's biggest airports. When and if the US public demands that their government "do something" about the extreme weather pummeling their neighborhoods, Washington will be able to officially reply, "We are."

Intended to "develop and implement a comprehensive and coordinated national weather modification policy," the board is tasked with coordinating state and federal weather modification efforts. It's direct mandate is stepped-up research and development aimed at developing experimental "models, devices, equipment, materials, and processes" to change or control, "by artificial methods" the development of clouds and/or precipitation in the troposphere. This weather-forming region of the atmosphere lies between Earth's surface and the stratosphere, starting around 35,000 feet.

The federal weather modifiers will now directly oversee the cloud-seeding operations currently being carried out over dozens of states to increase rain and snowfall for irrigation, electrical power and winter recreation purposes. As droughts intensify under an onslaught of moisture-absorbing chemicals dispensed behind ozone-destroying jet tankers, and future towns wash away in sudden flash floods triggered by rain-inducing atmospheric tinkering, these unnatural disasters and other "inadvertent" effects of weather modification will be closely "studied" by the newly created board.

But no studies have been released on the implications of wide-scale alteration of regional atmospheric heat balances.

Large-scale weather modification is banned under the United Nations Environmental Modification Convention signed by Washington in 1970.

Meanwhile, recent heavy "Chemtrail" spraying over Portland, Oregon and Canada's west coast has eased off once again. Another long-time Chemtrail "hot zone", Santa Cruz, California continues reporting clear blue skies unmarked by the chemplanes' ugly scrawl.

As recently as May 2005, a Swiss resident sent photographs to Meria Heller's website, reporting: "Today was one of the heaviest Spraying in Switzerland ever."

Some Canadians also have their eyes wide open. in June 2005, large graffiti spray-painted on a major overpass in West Vancouver advised motorists: WAKE UP, LOOK UP, CHEMTRAILS ARE EVERYWHERE.

An active duty air force crew chief has described environmental combat missions already being flown by specially-outfitted C-130 Hercules transports, which can be reloaded, refueled and relaunched in just 10 minutes to continue their assault on violent storms afflicting US communities. Flown by regular air force pilots, these "science flights" include onboard meteorologists, who painstakingly log the results of each mission.

Big storm fronts and hurricanes require a vast amount of absorbent chemicals to reduce their destructive power. To achieve the fast turn-around times needed to complete their missions, flights of returning C-130s taxi to a stop and immediately commence refueling as the empty onboard spray canister is removed. as soon as the empty canister is clear of the aircraft, a waiting truck wheels a semi-trailer-size container of sky-seeding chemicals to the plane's lowered rear ramp, where it is slid inside on rails like a gigantic "soda dispenser".

The crew chief added that other spray missions spread (barium) chemtrails to facilitate 3D radar mapping of the entire continental United States. He also said that the air force has been spraying storm fronts "for a long time". The military's main interest, he added, is experimentation aimed at gaining control of the weather for military use.

Did the air force spray this year's first Caribbean hurricane, in which the western quadrant disintegrated just before making its Texas landfall? "There's no reason they wouldn't," the crew chief replied.

But C-130 turboprops would not necessarily be used to try to influence hurricanes that typically release more energy than all atomic arsenals combined. Referring to the 757s recently modified for aerial spraying, the crew chief told willthomas.net, "We've got them, but I can't talk about them."

He added that many people in the air force "are aware of William Thomas" and his reporting on chemtrails. The crew chief confirmed that this reporter "has it mostly right" concerning the application and purposes behind chemtrails. But would not elaborate on my reporting.

Meanwhile, the chemtrails controversy has taken Europe by storm following a series of articles by Swiss freelance journalist Gabriel Stetter in the German popular science magazine Raum+Zeit (Space and Time), circulation circa 50,000.

Stetter's first article, "White Skies" created a public relations nightmare for Greenpeace when it informed readers in January 2004 how "Thousands of people were thoroughly shocked when they realised, and were informed by Greenpeace in Germany, Switzerland and Austria that-for some reason or other-Greenpeace has no interest in the Chemtrail question whatsoever."

The Swiss government also came under public pressure to explain the checkerboards being painted in its skies. On March 5, 2004 the Environment Department in Berne, Switzerland responded to an inquiry by Rudolf Rechsteiner, Social Democratic member of parliament, admitting that "A number of ideas exist that show how it would be possible to reduce global warming by technical means, at least in the short term."

But these ideas, the government office hastened to add, "are no more than theoretical. We are not aware of any practical application of these methods, either at home or abroad."

Ten days later, Greenpeace Switzerland climate and transport expert Cyrill Studer wrote an internal memo assuring colleagues that while he had "heard of the chemtrails phenomenon," for the present, Greenpeace "will not be following up the theme of chemtrails."

Two reasons for inaction by Greenpeace climate change activists were given. First, Studer explained, "There is not a sufficiently solid scientific basis" for Greenpeace to risk its budget and reputation verifying this "supposed phenomenon". To do so, he added in his memo to Greenpeace staff, "would overstretch our capacities.Important elements of our climate campaign would suffer, particularly the promotion of energy efficiency and of renewable energies, or our active influence in present-day politics."

Outside Greenpeace's corporate offices, the controversy continued. On June 11 German Greenpeace spokeswoman Kristine Läger told concerned constituents:

The idea of reducing global warming by putting chemicals in the atmosphere has been around a long time. There are various proposals in this direction, suggesting the chemicals should be independently sprayed and that they should be mixed with the fuel of ordinary passenger aircraft. Whether in Germany such proposals have reached the point of actual realization is highly questionable. So far as we are aware there are no indications from research and observation of weather and climate that these so-called chemtrails exist. Nor are we aware of any project that has been realized in practice.. in all probability this is not happening.

But Gabriel Stetter believes that the Greenpeace "Rainbow Warriors" know all about the rainbows in the sky. They probably also know of geoengineering studies to reduce incoming sunlight and slow global warming issued by the National Academy of Sciences. "And they may even have taken a look at the Welsbach Patent," he writes. "But they have no idea what conclusions to draw from the chessboard pattern suspended in the Hamburg sky or the aluminium-enriched 'rainbows'.

"Supposing the word 'chemtrails' appeared in print in the Greenpeace Magazine," Stetter speculates. "How many tens of thousands of people more would look up into the sky and recognize that the supposedly Utopian "proposal" has long moved on via "spraying trials" to a systematic, long-term spreading of cloud cover over the whole of Europe?"

Back in Basel, Gabriel Stetter quoted unsourced opinion polls showing that in this "stronghold" of chemtrails believers, one in ten people "have already heard of them despite the media blackout. Several thousand people in the prosperous town at the bend in the Rhine know that the chemtrails phenomenon suggests that something is seriously wrong."

Among these Swiss chemtrails activists, he explained, "are well-to-do people, who because of their environmental awareness have been for a long time, in some cases for decades, members of Greenpeace."

Not any more.

"Veteran anti-nuclear activists, campaigners for animal welfare or against electrosmog-in their alarm they had all turned to Greenpeace because of the chemtrails, which are visible everywhere in the skies above Basel. But a painful experience awaited all of them. They were palmed off with the same unsatisfactory answers that we have by now grown tired of hearing. The consequence drawn by these elderly, well-to-do activists from Greenpeace's lack of interest was the immediate cancellation of membership of many years, the withdrawal of legacies, and the withholding of payments to Greenpeace until further notice."

As Brian Holmes notes on his website, http://www.holmestead.ca , the October 2004 issue #131 of the Raum + Zeit contained many pages of letters from readers responding positively to Stetter's first article in issue #127. "Many of these letters are illustrated with color photographs supplied by the readers themselves."

Former six-year a board member of Greenpeace Germany, Monika Griefahn chaired the Committee for Culture and Media of the Federal German Parliament when she replied to a letter from two chemtrails dissenters in July 2004, stating, "I am in basic agreement with your concerns. Instead of making a concerted and determined effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions throughout the world, experiments of various kinds are being carried out in the earth's atmosphere in order to cure the symptoms."

After assuring her correspondents, "I share your concern over the use of aluminium or barium compounds which have a considerable toxic potential," the parliamentarian went on to say, "however, so far as I am aware the extent of their use is so far minimal."

"At last!" Stetter announced in the German science magazine. "There we have it. In the skies of Germany, so Social Democratic member of Parliament Monika Griefahn tells us, aluminium and barium compounds are being spread just as tens of thousands of concerned citizens have observed, documented and bitterly deplored."

Thanking the Honorable Griefahn her for her courage, Stetter suggested, "Maybe one day statues of politicians like Monika Griefahn or the equally plucky US Congressman Dennis Kucinich will adorn in marble splendor the squares of newly verdant German or American cities."

That would be nice.

But the public outcry in Europe will have to spread to North America if we are to stop this massive, illegal and continuing air and atmospheric pollution.

Lies Of Omission

In journalism, ignoring a story is tantamount to lying. A lie of omission is no less a lie. Truth is a commodity too long abused if not abandoned altogether in the mainstream American press, especially so in its treatment of the human catastrophe that is the Bush presidency.

Severe Geomagnetic Storm in Effect: Possible Tropical Storm Escalation

Severe Geomagnetic Storm in Effect; Possible Tropical Storm Escalation

by Mitch Battros – ECTV

Over the last 12 hours, the Earth has been bombarded with charged particles emitted from the Sun. I wish to point out just before Katrina escalated to a category 4 (later 5) hurricane, the Sun had produced three M-Class flares, with following CME’s which were Earth directed. The Kp Index was literally “off the scale”. An immediate alert went out to all power companies, NASA, USAF, and the FAA. Aircraft shifted flight patterns with many dropping their altitudes to below 30,000 feet.

You can hear my gripping interview with Bill Murtagh, Forecaster NASA/NOAA Space Weather Center on our “recent audio page”. The sound is very low for the first 10 minutes, so turn your volume up all the way. I was at a hotel during a conference when this urgent event occurred. The good news…I’m ready to do a “live” show at the drop of a hand almost anywhere…anytime. A mixed blessing I suppose. J

Recent Audio Files: http://www.earthchangestv.com/audioarchives.php

Just two days after the geomagnetic storm hit, hurricane “Katrina” was elevated to a Category 4 hurricane, and 24 hours later, a Category 5. Yes, I am saying there was a direct connection. (see equation)

Earlier today, the most recent surge of solar particles have hit our global protector known as the magnetic field. Without it, we would die from radiation within hours. It works as a buffer, surrounding the Earth like a cocoon.

CIA banned from Danish air space

29. Aug. 2005

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (UPI) -- The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs says unauthorized flights by the CIA will not be allowed into Danish airspace

The government has told the United States that the CIA can no longer use Danish airspace for flights to transport suspected terrorists around the world, reported the Copenhagen Post.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has made it quite clear to U.S. officials that Denmark does not want its airspace used for purposes that are in conflict with international conventions," wrote Foreign Minister Per Stig Møller in response to an inquiry from a spokesman for military affairs for the Red-Green Alliance.

Reports surfaced in May that civil airplanes secretly registered by the CIA had been sighted over Denmark. Human rights organizations claim that the planes are used to transport terror suspects to places where torture is conducted.

Møller had originally denied that the government had knowledge of transports taking place in Danish airspace that violate "international conventions," the newspaper said.

Cindy Sheehan Demands the Congress to Meet with the Mothers and answer her questions

From: CODEPINK codepink@democracyinaction.org

August 31, 2005

Those of us who have had the unbelievable opportunity of participating in the historic vigil in Crawford, Texas, have been transformed by this experience. We will be eternally grateful to Cindy Sheehan and the other military families who have revived the sagging spirits of the peace movement and provided inspiration to millions of Americans desperate to see an end to this war. Among the many breath-taking moments at Camp Casey was Sunday's showering of Cindy with 4,700 roses, placing them on all the crosses representing fallen soldiers, and bringing light and hope and color to this arid Texas landscape. Many thanks to all of you who made that beautiful tribute possible.

Now that this historic vigil is coming to an end, Cindy Sheehan has a new request for people around the country, especially mothers: Take the Camp Casey spirit back to every congressional district and senate office in this country and demand from our elected officials answers to the questions that George Bush refused to answer.

Cindy's plan, called "Meet with the Mothers" http://www.meetwiththemothers.org , gives us a concrete way to stand with Cindy. Between now and the upcoming anti-war mobilization in Washington DC on September 24, our job is to ask our own representatives and senators for a meeting to reply to Cindy's questions:

President Bush has said that brave Americans like Cindy Sheehan's son Casey have died for a "noble cause". What is that "noble cause"? How many more lives are we as a country willing to sacrifice in Iraq? How many are you personally willing to sacrifice? What are you specifically doing to bring our sons and daughters home from this needless war?

The meetings should include military families, mothers and members of the clergy, and should be videotaped to make sure the record is clear. We will go into these meetings with great sincerity, and expect the same from our elected officials.

To increase the pressure on Congressional members, we are asking you to join Cindy’s voice by sending her letter to your representative and senator. The more times they receive it, the better.

If you are willing to be part of or head a local delegation requesting a meeting with your elected official, please sign up here.

For those officials who refuse to meet, we ask you to consider setting up a "Camp Casey" in front of their offices until they agree to meet! It could be as simple as placing a tent with Camp Casey written on the side for an hour a day.

Every day from now until September 24, we will update the "scorecard" on the meet with the mothers website based on how each official has responded to Cindy's letter. On September 26, as part of lobby day, we will take the scores to congress and thank or spank members. We will publicize the scores nationwide, we will use these scores in upcoming congressional elections to continue pressurizing officials who are still unwilling to end this senseless war now.

Despite the unconscionable attacks on Cindy's character, family and motives, despite the tremendous emotional stress of coping with her ailing mother and pending divorce, Cindy has found strength in her son's legacy and her determination that no other mother should suffer as she has suffered. Let us take strength from Cindy's fortitude. Let us echo her questions throughout this land. Let us demand that every elected official who represents us in Washington come up with the answers that we—as mothers, as constituents, as peacemakers—need to hear.

With peace, hope and a determination to bring our troops home, Alicia, Dana, Farida, Gael, Jodie, Medea, Tiffany & Whitney

P.S. Please join us and tens of thousands of concerned global citizens in Washington, D.C. from September 24-26. Be with us in this historic moment as we march on the White House and deliver onemillionreasons to Bush. Mark your calendars, reserve your tickets, and get your pink gear ready! Don't miss Independence Air's limited time offer on super-cheap airfares to Washington D.C. -- Book by midnight ET on September 1, 2005. You can travel 7 days-a-week from September 6 through November 15. It Was the Oil, Stupid

Cindy Day 25

So it is official, Casey had his blood shed in Iraq for OIL. He died so we could pay over $3.00/gallon for gas. Like I suspected all along, my dear, sweet son, almost 1900 others, and tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis died so the oil fields wouldn't "fall into the hands of terrorists" and so George and his immoral band of greedy robber barons could become wealthier. Like I have said all along: how can these people sleep at night and how can they choke down their food knowing it is purchased off of the flesh and blood of others? We have found our "Noble Cause." And it is OIL. This man and his handlers need to be stopped.
