Mobilfunkleitplanung in Obertshausen

Vielen Dank. Manfred Christoph

Mobilfunkleitplanung in Obertshausen!

What Karl Rove Told Matt Cooper

The West fights a losing battle

The war on terror was being lost and Australia was next in line as a terrorist target, according to the Australian Arabic Council, a secular group claiming to be a voice of the Arab world in Australia.

Nothing could have stopped attacks

The home secretary, Charles Clarke, admitted today that his controversial plan to introduce ID cards for British residents would not have prevented the bomb attacks on London, but insisted the cards would "help rather than hinder" anti-terrorism efforts.

Conservatives Losing the War on Terror

American Progress Action Fund
July 8, 2005

Yesterday’s tragic bombings in London that left at least 50 people dead and another 700 wounded reaffirmed the world's resolve to defeat global terrorist networks. But the attacks also underscore that the world remains unsafe and that our current approach to fighting terrorism is at a minimum insufficient. While America remains committed to defeating terrorists, many are asking a legitimate question: are our policies making us safer? [...]

The article goes on to elaborate on these three reasons why we know the conservatives are losing the war on terror: The numbers don’t lie: global terrorist acts have increased steadily since 2001. Al-Qaeda and other terrorist networks continue to operate and threaten our way of life.

The Bush administration’s incompetence in Iraq has only fueled the terrorist fire. [...] Read all of this at http://tinyurl.com/7u2nq

Rove-Plame: The Word from Aspen

Arianna Huffington
Huffington Post
July 6, 2005

How is it that the second most powerful man in America is about to take a fall and the mainstream media are largely taking a pass? Could it be that the fear of Karl Rove and this White House is so great that not even the biggest of the media big boys are willing to take them on? Does the answer to that one go without saying?

Chatter about the Rove story has come to dominate the downtime at the Aspen Institute’s five-day Ideas Festival. Whenever participants are not in sessions, they’re gathering in small groups and dissecting, analyzing, and speculating about the outcome of this surprisingly slow-breaking scandal.

[...]

According to the players, the key to whether this story has real legs -- and whether it will spell the end of Rove -- is determining intent. And a key to that is whether there was a meeting at the White House where Rove and Scooter Libby discussed what to do with the information they had gotten from the State Department about Valerie Plame being Joe Wilson’s wife, and her involvement in his being sent on the Niger/yellowcake mission. If it can be proven that such a meeting occurred, then Rove will be in deep trouble -- especially if it is established that Rove made three phone calls leaking the info about Plame and her CIA gig… one to Matt Cooper , one to Walter Pincus , and one to Robert Novak . Turning Up the Heat

Judith Miller's jailing and Matthew Cooper's testimony could solve the mystery of the Plame case—and embarrass the Bush administration

By Michael Isikoff and Mark Hosenball
Newsweek
Updated: 11:26 a.m. ET July 9, 2005

July 6 - While New York Times reporter Judith Miller went off to jail today, the decision by another journalist, Matthew Cooper, to testify before a federal grand jury could increase the pressure on the White House in the nearly two-year long furor over the leak of a covert CIA operative’s identity.

In a startling turn of events, Cooper initially said in court today he was fully prepared himself to go to jail as well. Then, right after he had hugged goodbye to his young son on his way to day camp, he got a last-minute “communication” from his source giving him his direct and “personal” assurance that he was relieving Cooper of his pledge of confidentiality on matters relating to a Time article that identified Valerie Plame as a CIA official. Plame is the wife of Joseph Wilson, a former diplomat who made news when he said that, contrary to President George W. Bush’s assertion, Iraq had not bought uranium from Niger as part of its nuclear program. Bush had said in his 2003 State of the Union address that Saddam Hussein had recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa--citing this one of his reasons for believing that the Iraqi dictator had weapons of mass destruction. President Bush's lies now a tough sell

Kelvin Wade
July 8, 2005
Daily Republic Online Edition

There's a reason why President Bush's speech on Iraq last week went unheard by most Americans and hasn't changed his sagging poll numbers. He and his administration have a credibility problem that Democrats and Independents have seen for some time and some Republicans are starting to acknowledge.

The 2002 Downing Street Memo is just the latest blow. While the memo has been trashed by conservative bloggers and right-wing blowhards like Rush Limbaugh, it has been authenticated by two senior British officials. It states that the British believed Bush had decided to go to war long before he told the public and says that "the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy." Bush's Flypaper Theory is Blown to Pieces

London: Bush's Flypaper Theory is Blown to Pieces
Arianna Huffington
Posted July 7, 2005

Well, there goes that theory...

Odds are we probably won't be hearing for a while the Bush mantra that the reason we're fighting them over in Iraq is so we don't have to fight them here at home. For the last few months, this ludicrous shibboleth has been the president's go-to line -- his latest rationale for slogging on in Iraq.

Here he was on July 4th: "We're taking the fight to the terrorists abroad so we do not have to face them here at home."

And during his primetime speech to the nation on June 28th, there he was again, this time quoting the commander on the ground in Iraq: "We either deal with terrorism and this extremism abroad, or we deal with it when it comes to us." [...] Read the rest at http://tinyurl.com/df5ya

The ticking clock: America in Iraq

Wednesday, July 6, 2005 - Page updated at 04:50 PM

The time has come to begin planning an exit from Iraq. We are not wanted there, and we have no legitimate national interest in staying.

Our original war aim, the toppling of Saddam Hussein, has been achieved. It is now apparent that we are not even close to achieving the add-on mission of creating a democratic, law-abiding Iraqi state in which Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds share power.
