Liberty For All

The past four years of the Bush presidency have been the darkest times--constitutionally, culturally, and politically--since the 1860s. I'd think after the arrogant and disturbing changes the Federal government has pushed since 9-11-01, folks would be champing at the bit to vote the scheming blackguards out of office. Never before has the armored fist of the government been more unmasked, more nakedly aggressive, than it is today...

Absentee ballots mailed by Florida elections supervisors too late for possibly thousands of voters to return them on time should still count, the American Civil Liberties Union argued in a federal lawsuit filed Tuesday. Myeleoproliferative Disorder : Guinea Pigs lived three Years post Electric Meter Wall

(excerpt)

Roy: This is maddening enough to cause a person to take their computer and throw it off a bridge!!!!! Now we can't "even quote???" An easy way not to have to take care of myself for whatever time left on earth -- a jail sentence???

"Sound and established evidence," as you know, can easily be obtained BUT, such an accomplishment is purposely being avoided!!!!

I know enough scientific information exists here in the U.S. as well as Britain to allow for replication of "established blood results" - - the "exact tests" that are used to check X-ray workers re chronic, prolonged exposure to low dose ionizing radiation.

Britain has and still does use guinea pigs for various experiments. Only two guinea pigs need to be used for each study. Two separate rounds of CBC's (complete blood counts with differentials) should be done before placing the animals on tiny little blankets (to "control" sleeping spot to allow for recording milligauss readings).

The animals must be fed standard guinea pig pellets, generous amounts of Timothy hay and two salads a day consisting of romaine, parsley, green pepper, carrots and apple. The salads are needed to maintain Vitamin C levels since guinea pigs, like humans, do not synthesize their Vitamin C. They also need a good supply of fresh water.

Guinea pigs, like humans, produce cortisol rather than corticortoids as in the case of rodents. They are also "radiosensitive." This and other information can be found by typing "guinea pig biology" on the search bar.

Assuming the first two rounds of CBC's are normal, the cage should be placed near an electric meter so that the magnetic field is between 4.0 mg and 6.0 mg when measuring "the sleeping spot." Placing a portion of a baby's receiving blanket or 1/2 of an infant's diaper in the part of the cage designated "sleeping spot" will guarantee consistent exposure. Guinea pigs love to cuddle........

When one or both animals begin to make a choking-type sound, a stethescope should be used to check for breathing problems. Rales will most likely be heard, indicating "asthma."

At this time, blood for the CBC's should be drawn. The results will indicate changes consistent with "a myeleoproliferative disorder." The changes will most likely include many "hypersegmented neutrophils" (slowed DNA synthesis). At this time, blood results may also indicate severe neutropenia and lymphocytosis. If not, the animals should be placed back in the cage and moved a little farther from the source to milligauss readings between 2.0 mg and 4.0 mg. Follow-up CBC's can be made a week later to check for worsening white cell counts; however, if the cage isn't moved away from the electric meter and/or appliance such as an electric clock, one or both may die before 30 days.

Blood results indicating severe neutropenia and lymphocytosis are "pre-Leukemic blood changes." At the least, the animals will have "a myeleoproliferative disorder." This alone can be a precursor of Lymphoma/Leukemia, etc.

Reactive amyloidosis may also occur if the animal is removed from close proximity to electric meter and/or electric clock radio and manages to survive a year or more in "ambient milligauss readings between 2.5 mg and 4.0 mg." In other words, the animals won't be as likely to die when removed from close proximity to the electric meter and/or appliance; however, if maintained in a room where there are measurable milligauss readings in the range between 2.5 mg and 4.0 mg, the animals will "improve" but then later will develop serious problems such as amyloidosis or myeloma, etc.

Caution: Even tho such studies are essential in order to produce evidence that will help save children (and others) from myeleoproliferative disorders, Leukemia, amyloidosis (which accounts for problems such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinsons, Alzheimers and diabetes, etc. -- many health problems), it is still very hard on the researcher to find the little animal dead in the cage and this may occur even if the cage is moved away from the electric meter and/or outlet soon after asthma is observed. The animal, tho, will appear to be "very healthy" due to extraordinary care and will have been "very happy" while being treated so well!!!

We are sadly on our way to the vet in about an hour and will most likely need to have our remaining guinea pig, Lucy, put down. She can no longer use her back legs. She has now lived three years post "electric meter wall." Her CBC's had returned to normal when checked several months ago. We will drive her to the University for necropsy and I will once again write "EMR exposure/"powerwall" (electric meter) 4.0 mg to 6.0 mg for 2-1/2 weeks. Cage moved to basement where milligauss readings averaged between 3.5 mg and 4.5 mg for last three years..........

I will cry........Bud will quickly wipe his cheek every now and then.......and we will go to sleep tonight knowing that "no one" is really going to do anything at all that will warn families they need to "be cautious" and to move electrical objects away from close proximity to beds, as well as other methods to reduce EMR exposures such as filter/capacitor use (now yielding great results in homes and schools ).

Mercury contamination widespread in Ohio’s lakes & rivers

by Ohio PIRG

September 21, 2004

Every fish sample from 70 different lakes and rivers tainted with dangerous toxin

Toxic levels in fish often exceed “safe” limit for women of childbearing age

Every lake, river and stream in Ohio is likely contaminated with dangerous mercury pollution, tainting popular fish species that people commonly catch and eat.

That is the finding of a new report based on recent federal and state Environmental Protection Agency tests of more than 1,000 fish caught in 70 different lakes, rivers and ponds across the state.

The test data is included in Reel Danger, a report authored by the Public Interest Research Group and released in Columbus by Ohio PIRG, the Darby Creek Association and the Ohio Environmental Council.

According to EPA test data:

Every fish sample tested from Ohio and throughout the nation was contaminated with mercury. Several of Ohio’s most popular sport fish contained mercury levels that exceed the USEPA’s “safe” limit for women of childbearing age, including 48% of the walleye, 49% of the smallmouth bass, 50% of the Northern pike, and 64% of the largemouth bass tested. Predator fish at the top of the food chain, including smallmouth bass, walleye, largemouth bass, lake trout, and Northern pike, had the highest average mercury concentrations.

The report is based on the first available data from the EPA’s ongoing National Study of Chemical Residues in Lake Fish Tissue and on recent state EPA fish tissue studies. The Ohio test results mirror those of much of the nation.

“Mercury pollution is contaminating the fish that Ohioans love to catch and eat,” stated Sarah McKinney, Environmental Associate for Ohio PIRG. “Unfortunately for Ohio’s families, serving up fish contaminated with high levels of mercury can negatively impact the way young children learn, think and even grow – in some cases causing permanent brain damage.”

Earlier this year, EPA scientists estimated that one in six women of childbearing age in the U.S. has enough mercury in her blood to put her child at risk of mercury poisoning. Eating contaminated fish is the primary way people are exposed to mercury. Mercury is toxic to the developing brain, and exposure in the womb can cause learning disabilities, developmental delays and other serious health problems in children. The USEPA estimates that 630,000 of the four million babies born each year in the U.S. are at risk.

The Ohio Department of Health has issued a statewide fish consumption advisory for mercury, urging all persons to eat no more than one meal a week of fish caught from any water body in the state. Some waterways have even more restrictive advisories.

John Tetzloff, president of the Darby Creek Association, is upset that even relatively remote and pristine streams such as the Darby which is a state and national scenic river in west-central Ohio – are contaminated with mercury. “Individuals and local jurisdictions have worked hard to protect the Darby from pollution from familiar sources,” he said. “Now we find out that the Darby is being polluted through the air. It’s very discouraging.”

The report calls for prompt action to clean up the top source of mercury emissions: coal-fired power plants. According to the USEPA, fossil-fueled power plants account for 41% of total mercury emissions in the U.S. When coal is burned, it releases mercury into the air. Bacteria in the soil and water convert mercury to methylmercury, a highly toxic form that accumulates in fish. As larger fish eat smaller fish, the toxin accumulates.

Ohio ranks 2nd in the nation (Texas ranks 1st) for mercury emissions from power plants, releasing a reported 7,358 pounds of mercury into the air in 2002, according to the most recent EPA data. In fact, five of Ohio’s 24 coal-burning power plants landed in the top 40 for mercury emissions out of 500 plants nationwide. These plants include:

¨ AEP Conesville Plant, Conesville, OH – ranked #3 in the nation, 1,300 pounds

¨ J.M. Stuart Station, Manchester, OH – ranked #13 in the nation, 845 pounds

¨ AEP Gavin Plant, Cheshire, OH – ranked #30 in the nation, 660 pounds

¨ AEP Cardinal Plant, Brilliant, OH – ranked #38 in the nation, 560 pounds

¨ W.H. Sammis Plant, Stratton, OH – ranked #40 in the nation, 540 pounds

“Recreational fishing brings in over $760 million to Ohio’s economy.

As a business owner and a tournament fisherman, I’m asking the Bush administration to pass a standard to reduce mercury from power plants by 90%,” said Gary Lowry, Owner of Maumee Bait and Tackle & Fishing Outfitter in Maumee, Ohio.

Unlike other industries, the electric power industry can legally emit unlimited amounts of mercury into the air. In just the past decade, medical and municipal waste incinerators have slashed their emissions of mercury by more than 90 percent. Cost-effective technology is currently available to reduce mercury pollution from power plants, according to the USEPA.

Reel Danger: Power Plant Mercury Emissions and the Fish We Eat comes as the Bush administration prepares to finalize a highly controversial proposal to delay meaningful reductions in mercury emissions from power plants until at least 2018. The Clean Air Act calls for the maximum achievable reductions of such emissions by 2008. The Bush plan, which was written in part by utility industry lobbyists, has sparked unprecedented public opposition and a nationwide call for stringent and timely controls on mercury from power plants.

“Many Ohioans fish to put food on the table, not just to catch and release. That’s why we need a strong federal protection right away, not a generation from now. But the mercury reductions proposed by the Bush administration’s plan are too little, too late,” added David Celebrezze of the Ohio Environmental Council.

A copy of the report, including the list of waterways sampled in Ohio and fish test results, is at http://www.PIRG.org and http://www.theOEC.org .

Ohio PIRG ( http://www.ohioPIRG.org ) is a non-profit, non-partisan public interest advocacy organization.

"Alle wollen Autofahren, aber niemand will Straßen."

The Times vom 30.10.04 ·
BBC News vom 30.10.04

- Diskussion in Volkshochschule

There's no limits to the absurdity

(excerpt)

Several months ago I sent pictures of 3G antennas that had been erected near residents in the city Tel Aviv. The residents are going to fight in the court, and now they are going to deal with a second lawsuit: they had a quarrel with the owner of the house who receives money for the antennas on the roof. During their fight, the owner told them angrily: "I will cause you cancer!" (it doesn't matter that he is already doing it), "I will file a suit against you" (the owner, against the irradiated citizens). It's serious, they took a second lawyer.

The residents had an interesting episode when they called to someone from the Env. ministry to measure the radiation. Since they had received an extensive explanation about frequencies that they are exposed to (it was found with an analyzer), they were interested to know how exactly the ministry representative was measuring the radiation. He admitted that he was measuring a frequency that does not exist there, but he had a "good" excuse: he said that if he wanted to measure another frequency, he would have had to give the device for calibration. So what's easier than just trying to fool the citizens. Needless to say, they will invite someone else to measure.

The Einstein school parents came to a parliment meeting today, and yelled at the health ministry, the army representatives, and everybody that was there and is involved in the huge army antennas near the school. Two parents yelled while the government people just looked at them with empty looks. The parents told them to cut it out, all the stories they try sell them that there's no radiation, they called them see how you send your children to such a school near antennas, you wouldn't do it and you sit here telling us stories. They said that the army did not buy the land, and they endanger the children just for money, while living from the taxes that the parents pay them.

Also, they brought their small children who are also worried from all that they see around them and one small girl said that there are so many antennas there, that it's "really too much" (she's about 8 years old).

A new cancer cluster was published yesterday in the national newspaper. In a town near an army base, 12 people have cancer, all of them lately, all of them near the antennas. At first they didn't talk about it, because they didn't want to prevent tourism to the town, but now they feel they can't take it anymore and call the government to investigate. The Environment ministry said that measurements in the town showed there was "no exceeding radiation".

FEMA CONCENTRATION CAMPS: Locations and Executive Orders

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wisepeople/message/1445

There over 800 prison camps in the United States, all fully operational and ready to receive prisoners. They are all staffed and even surrounded by full-time guards, but they are all empty. These camps are to be operated by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) should Martial Law need to be implemented in the United States and all it would take is a presidential signature on a proclamation and the attorney general's signature on a warrant to which a list of names is attached. Ask yourself if you really want to be on Ashcroft's list.

The Rex 84 Program was established on the reasoning that if a "mass exodus" of illegal aliens crossed the Mexican/US border, they would be quickly rounded up and detained in detention centers by FEMA. Rex 84 allowed many military bases to be closed down and to be turned into prisons.

Operation Cable Splicer and Garden Plot are the two sub programs which will be implemented once the Rex 84 program is initiated for its proper purpose. Garden Plot is the program to control the population. Cable Splicer is the program for an orderly takeover of the state and local governments by the federal government. FEMA is the executive arm of the coming police state and thus will head up all operations. The Presidential Executive Orders already listed on the Federal Register also are part of the legal framework for this operation.

The camps all have railroad facilities as well as roads leading to and from the detention facilities. Many also have an airport nearby. The majority of the camps can house a population of 20,000 prisoners. Currently, the largest of these facilities is just outside of Fairbanks, Alaska. The Alaskan facility is a massive mental health facility and can hold approximately 2 million people.

Now let's review the justification for any actions taken...

Executive Orders associated with FEMA that would suspend the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. These Executive Orders could be enacted by the stroke of a Presidential pen:...

EXECUTIVE ORDER 10990 allows the government to take over all modes of transportation and control of highways and seaports.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 10995 allows the government to seize and control the communication media.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 10997 allows the government to take over all electrical power, gas, petroleum, fuels and minerals.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 10998 allows the government to seize all means of transportation, including personal cars, trucks or vehicles of any kind and total control over all highways, seaports, and waterways.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 10999 allows the government to take over all food resources and farms.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11000 allows the government to mobilize civilians into work brigades under government supervision.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11001 allows the government to take over all health, education and welfare functions.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11002 designates the Postmaster General to operate a national registration of all persons.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11003 allows the government to take over all airports and aircraft, including commercial aircraft.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11004 allows the Housing and Finance Authority to relocate communities, build new housing with public funds, designate areas to be abandoned, and establish new locations for populations.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11005 allows the government to take over railroads, inland waterways and public storage facilities.

Deborah's G. Reid note: Someone has told me that Martial Law has been in effect in the U.S.A. since some time in the 1930s. However, an expansion of it to put into effect the executive orders listed below would result in much harm and death to many more citizens than is already being allowed and even caused by our government officials' ways of running the society. Governments have committed genocides in the past and are doing so now also. However, the intentional deaths are not being acknowledged as genocides.

One variety of unacknowledged genocide is the abortions of millions of unwanted unborn children. I came across some related websites recently with much gory details, even telling of children surviving the abortion procedure to be born alive but murdered shortly thereafter. Some such children, while still breathing, have been packed into ice to be shipped to laboratories and some such children, while alive, have been dropped into meat grinders to be processed to be lab cultures. Even convicted murderers that receive the death penalty aren't put to death in such brutal ways.

No doubt, most of these unwanted children are not aborted because the birth will make the mother so sick that she dies, especially in countries where C-section deliveries are available. While some abortions are done after the female became pregnant through rape, rapes could be reduced drastically if only the government would get serious about adequate imprisonments for rapists. The motivation for many abortions resulting from consensual relationships is that the father or mother, or both of them, have decided that the unborn child is unwanted because they do not want to be responsible at that time in their lives or made a decision of the child being unaffordable. It would be good for people in the decision making stage prior to abortion to have access to read the websites about abortion that I came across such as http://www.ewtn.com/library/PROLENC/ENCYC061.HTM

I doubt doctors are telling people that the unborn children have a nervous system and feel agonizing pain while being brutally put to death. Public schools teach sex education. They ought to teach about the gory brutal details of abortion too starting in the seventh grade. Such education would, no doubt, result in preventions of some pregnancies and preventions of some abortions too.

With all of the extreme changes in the U.S.A. government since the 9/11 attacks plus our more powerful government officials' dislike of the Social Security and Medicare programs along with the "baby boomer" generation of Americans getting closer to the age to qualify for those programs, our government officials may decide that the aging Americans are not affordable. They may decide that genocide at concentration camps is the way to reduce the increasing expenses of Social Security and Medicare. Since many government officials' consciences have become so callous as to approve of unborn children and even some children that survive the abortion procedure being murdered, they could easily become just as callous towards the very lives of the aging population too. They may decide that the aging population are unaffordable. However, the same government officials are eager to run up the national debt by trillions of dollars as a result of unnecessary wars.

It may be that public exposure that our government officials have set up fenced in locations that could be used for concentration camps to many people may work towards stopping them from being put into use. It would be a good idea to talk to everyone you come into contact with about how the Real I.D. law that just passed could result in citizens being vulnerable to be put into concentration camps and not come out alive. It would be good to tell any people you talk to about these matters to spread the word because that is our best hope for preventing the use of concentration camps from becoming reality.)

Army First Lieutenant Jullian Philip Goodrum Battles The Army

Under Fire: Haunted by Memories of War, A Soldier Battles The Army

The article describes the battles Army First Lieutenant Jullian Philip Goodrum wages each day since his return from the Iraq War. Goodrum is fighting the emotional trauma of war. And when he sought medical care, Army Lieutenant Colonel Ronald Stevens confirms, "I acknowledge that he was turned away." Then, when Goodrum sought civilian care, the Army filed charges against Goodrum for not following Army rules. Goodrum's plight reveals how far some soldiers must go to obtain the care they earned fighting the war in Iraq. This raises the questions: Why aren't charges brought against Stevens for refusing to provide medical care to Goodrum? Where is the accountability?

Was Deine Kinder machen" gibt Eltern und Lehrern "Nachhilfeunterricht" in Sachen Medien.

(ar)

Mandatory Gene Testing for newborn babies

OCTOBER 28, 2004. Mandatory gene testing for newborn babies...states adopting laws...NY expands its program...from the AP dispatch below, it appears that parents have no choice in the matter...have a baby in a hospital, the test is done...

What about the science behind this coercive program?

It stinks. The word GENE has become a code symbol for "we know what we're doing, we're linking diseases to specific genes, we've done the studies..."

If you can find an old out-of-print book, NOT IN OUR GENES, grab it and read it. It details the fake science and the bald assumptions dressed up like empirical findings.

Remember the human genome project? It claimed to have identified the whole gene structure of humans. But the sheer number of genes it found was so low that it set researchers back on their heels. In other words, the bizarre dream of tying so many diseases and traits and behaviors to specific genes---one to one---was seen to be impossible. There were just too many functions to assign to the very low number of genes discovered.

But none of this has stopped the partnership of government and research. It's a gravy train, and the people involved have no intention of stepping off.

And it sounds good. The PR campaign has worked. "We thought it was all about germs, and it is, but at a much deeper level it's all about genes." "You must have good genes, you look so young." "These athletes have great genes." "Hey, beyond a certain point, life is all about what genes you have." "My brother never gets sick, no matter what. It's his genes." "We went to the genius sperm bank to conceive. We can afford it, and who would pass up a chance to have a high-IQ child?"

It's all leaked down into the culture, and people feel a bit smarter when they talk about genes to explain otherwise incomprehensible (to them) situations.

Of course, you can run all this back to the eugenics program in Nazi Germany, and before that, in America. "Let's create a better race." "Let's get rid of the useless eaters and their inferior gene pool." "Let's wipe out all those ugly people."

The current propaganda is given a more humane face. "All we want to do is cure diseases and save parents endless heartbreak."

Then there are the treatments. Many people hold the vague belief that, once you ID the offending gene that causes a disease, you insert a better version of that gene. This has not panned out. So the fall-back position is, you guessed it, drugs. "We can help manage the disease, now that we've discovered the genetic flaw..."

It's smoke and mirrors.

We've seen this technology in the area of genetically engineered foods. One of the many problems is, you end up creating a kind of monoculture of plants. The robust, diverse, cross-hatched, long-term coupling of plants in nature is short-circuited on behalf of seeds that, for example, contain genes that are supposed to rebuff a specific insect pest. When most of the plants of a given crop then become identical, a weakness develops. Immune to a particular pest, the new plants can't fight off others that were formely no problem.

Russian roulette with the future on the line.

Babies to be screened for 44 diseases--more than any other state

The Associated Press Updated: 8:12 a.m. ET Oct. 28, 2004

ALBANY, N.Y. - Babies born in New York will be tested for 44 genetic diseases — more than any other state — under an expansion of the state's newborn screening program announced Wednesday.

Infants are currently screened for 11 inherited and sometimes life-threatening disorders including cystic fibrosis, sickle cell anemia and phenylketonuria.

Under the expanded program, the number of diseases tested in newborns would quadruple by 2005. Twenty diseases will be added by the end of this year and another 13 in 2005.

Early diagnosis and prompt treatment after birth can prevent mental retardation and other complications later on.

Iowa, Mississippi, North Dakota test between 38 to 43 inherited diseases in newborns, according to the National Newborn Screening and Genetics Resource Center.

States pressured to expand infant screening New York is among several states that use new technology called tandem mass spectrometry, which takes a single drop of blood to screen for at least 20 diseases.

Mandatory testing for genetic diseases in newborns varies greatly by state. Last month, a government advisory committee recommended that states test newborns for 30 rare, inherited diseases. Several states in recent months have moved to increase the number of newborn screenings. In August, Ohio mandated that babies be tested for 30 genetic disorders, up from 13.

INDYMEDIA SPECIAL ELECTION COVERAGE

November 1, 2004

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

INDYMEDIA NETWORK LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE AND SPECIAL ELECTIONS COVERAGE

On the eve of what will be one of the most important elections in U.S. history, the Indymedia network announces the launch of a new and critical website for gathering the news and views of ordinary people across the country and around the world.

With its mission of publishing independent, on-the-ground reports from the people who experience the news most directly, http://www.indymedia.us will amplify the voices of those most impacted not only by the elections process, but also by the policies of either a Bush or Kerry administration.

"Indymedia has changed the face of journalism through its creative and comprehensive coverage from the front lines of struggles for social justicethrough out the world," says Amy Goodman, host of Democracy Now!, the independent public radio and TV news hour. "With its vast network of unembedded journalists throughout the country indymedia.us will become a weapon in the fight for the truth about what happens on November 2nd and beyond."

The US IMC website centers around a syndicated wire of all featured articles published by participating local US-based IMCs. As with all Indymedia sites, the USIMC's open publishing newswire empowers people to become the media by posting their articles, photos, videos, and audio clips directly to the website's wire. But the US IMC's main function is to make the news that is published, culled and edited to local IMC sites relevant and accessible to a broader audience.

For breaking news reports, indymedia is also working with election monitors and equiping them with text messege emergency blast networks, call in centers and more.

"Indymedia is the only source that truly comes from the ground-up," says journalist and activist Rosa Clemente. "Young people all across the globe are learning how to be the story-tellers of their community. In a whole host of ways, Indymedia has access to reports that the corporate media and even most alternative media outlets do not."

There are currently 165 autonomous Independent Media Centers (IMC) around the world. Over 50 of them are in the United States.

Indymedia is a grassroots network committed to using media production and distribution as tools for promoting social and economic justice. It is dedicated to addressing issues that the mainstream media neglects and hopes to empower people to "become the media" by providing democratic access to available technologies and information.

Republicans Pressed To Halt Voter-Suppression Efforts

10/29/2004

With political analysts agreeing that voter turnout, especially of minority and youth voters, will likely determine the outcome of next Tuesday's presidential election, civil and human rights groups are pressing the Republican National Committee (RNC) to call off plans aimed at discouraging people from casting ballots.

In continuation of their effort to boost voter participation and confidence in the U.S. elections, international election observers will visit communities in Arizona this week. The observers who arrived in the country last week will investigate issues could compromise the integrity of the November elections such as voter disenfranchisement, security of electronic voting machines and influence of corporate and personal wealth on the political process.

A QUICK GUIDE TO AVOIDING PROBLEMS AT THE POLLS

TrueMajority
http://www.truemajority.org

Before you go to the polls:

Find your correct polling place. Click here
http://www.mypollingplace.com . They are getting crushed with requests, so if you don't get through right away, try again later or just call your local Board of Elections.

To avoid confusion and save time, study the ballot. Check your local newspaper for a copy.

Find a form of identification to bring to the polls. Unless you are a first-time voter who registered by mail without sending identification, you have the right to vote without providing ID. However, to avoid hassles just bring ID anyway. A government-issued ID is best (such as a driver's license), but you can also bring a utility bill, paycheck stub, phone bill, or similar papers with your name on them. If your ID does not have a signature, bring two forms of identification.

Allow plenty of time to vote, preferably in the morning. There may be lines. Bring something to read. If the line is really long, consider getting a box of donuts or cookies to share to lighten the mood. Someone might be challenging voters just to slow things up in the hope that long lines will scare away voters. If this is happening, let folks in line know so it stiffens their resolve to stay and cast vote.

Learn your voting rights:

- Even if you are not on the voter list, federal law gives you the right to a "provisional ballot." Insist on one and vote. A regular ballot is preferable, so you should do whatever you can to get a regular ballot first, like going home and getting a second form of identification or going to the polling place where you are definitely on the voter list. But rather than be turned away, demand a provisional ballot.

-You have the right to vote if you are in line when the polls close. Stay in line until you vote.

-Find out if your employer will give you time off to vote, if necessary.

At the polls:

If you are confused about ANYTHING or feel you are being harassed, ask the official poll workers to help. Do not rely on fellow citizens for advice about the ballot, how the voting machines work, or why you are not on the rolls. If someone is challenging your right to vote, ask the poll workers to intervene.

If someone harasses you, don't cause a ruckus. Just ignore the harasser, report it to a poll worker, and let the voting process continue. What kinds of things might somebody try? Well, in the past people have insisted on more ID than is required or argued that someone is at the wrong polling place.

If something goes wrong, document it. Write down what happened, when, and descriptions of the people involved, including their names, if you can get them. If you have a camera or camera-phone, take pictures.

Report voting problems to an organization ready to respond to problems at the polls:

Common Cause: Call 1-866-MYVOTE1. This is a hotline you can call to report any voting problems.

1-866-OUR-VOTE. This hotline has been set up by a coalition of nonpartisan groups to deal with the most serious problems on Election Day. They have hundreds of lawyers standing by to immediately respond to the most egregious problems. 1-866-OUR-VOTE is the "911" of voter suppression hotlines. Please don't call unless your problem is serious enough that you have to talk to a lawyer immediately.

Contact the media. If something is going terribly wrong at a polling site and you have reported it to the folks above, you might want to then call local radio, television, and newspaper reporters. Often problems clear up quickly after a reporter arrives.

"Conservatives" push for more Big Brother

by Jim Hightower

AlterNet

11/01/04

Today's Gooberhead is Rep. Candice Miller, a Michigan Republican who has written a bill that effectively will require all Americans to start carrying a national ID card. The idea of having to 'show your papers' has been an anathema to liberty-loving Americans since the founding of our nation, yet, ironically, so-called 'conservatives' like Miller are now demanding such autocracy...

Bush's false doctrine

by G. Henry M. Schuler

Tom Paine

11/01/04

George Bush never stops repeating that the world has been completely changed by the horrific attacks of 9/11. But his words are belied by his actions which demonstrate that the age-old mix of carrot and stick remains firmly entrenched in U.S. foreign policy. ... Sadly, the Bush White House has ignored all of [the] prerequisites in its use of carrots and sticks. Bush’s political advisor Karl Rove has spun both carrots and sticks into the web of campaign rhetoric that Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney spout with increasing shrillness in the closing days of this campaign. The emphasis is, to be sure, on the pre-emptive use of muscular sticks in Iraq, but Rove recognizes that growing numbers of American voters know in their guts that it has been executed without attention to the prerequisites...

Fourteen Characteristics of Fascism

(... and check your own country too!) - thanks to heroay for the compilation

Dr. Lawrence Britt, a political scientist, wrote an article about fascism which appeared in Free Inquiry magazine -- a journal of humanist thought.

Dr. Britt studied the fascist regimes of Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain), Suharto (Indonesia), and Pinochet (Chile). He found the regimes all had 14 things in common, and he calls these the identifying characteristics of fascism. The article is titled 'Fascism Anyone?', by Lawrence Britt, and appears in Free Inquiry's Spring 2003 issue on page 20.

The 14 characteristics are:

1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism -- Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.

2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights -- Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need". The people tend to 'look the other way' or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.

3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause -- The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial, ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.

4. Supremacy of the Military -- Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.

5. Rampant Sexism -- The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Opposition to abortion is high, as is homophobia and anti-gay legislation and national policy.

6. Controlled Mass Media -- Sometimes the media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or through sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in wartime, is very common.

7. Obsession with National Security -- Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.

8. Religion and Government are Intertwined -- Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.

9. Corporate Power is Protected -- The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.

10. Labor Power is Suppressed -- Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely or are severely suppressed.

11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts -- Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked, and governments often refuse to fund the arts.

12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment -- Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses, and even forego civil liberties, in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.

13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption -- Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions, and who use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.

14. Fraudulent Elections -- Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against (or even the assassination of) opposition candidates, the use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and the manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.

Why Are We In Iraq?

Why Are We In Iraq? Bush Family $$$ Signs

by Evelyn J. Pringle

After Dick Cheney's tenure at the Pentagon ended in 1993, he spent much of the next two years deciding whether to run for President. He formed a political-action committee, and crossed the country making speeches and raising money. (Contact Sport, The New Yorker, 2/16/04). Records from the FEC show that Cheney's PAC contributors included executives of the companies that have since won the largest contracts in Iraq. Among them were Thomas Cruikshank, Halliburton's CEO at the time; Stephen Bechtel, whose family's firm now has a contract in Iraq worth as much as $2.8 billion; and Duane Andrews, then senior VP of Science Applications International Corporation, which has won seven contracts in Iraq. However, while Cheney and his pals may well be the most blatant profiteers in Iraq, they are by no means the only ones involved in this grand war profiteering scheme commonly referred to as the "War on Terror." The #1 spot on the list belongs to the First Family....

Tuesday, VOTE of November, 2004-4-2005

Today is the day WE the VOTERS can start taking back OUR Nation. I do express Go VOTE ; and in my earnest desires, vote for John Kerry.

I also want to remind you, do not count this as "the day" to relax your voting rights after you vote. This is only THE WARM-UP of voting to take back OUR Nation. Remember to exercise your voting rights in ALL elections. This is directed to your local and state elections. In replacing ALL Republicans in those elections, We the People will bring chaos to both political parties just as "they" have given us.

PLEASE...do not let your momentium decrease just because this election hopefully ends by tomorrow. In the interim, remember how George Bush got the office of president. It was BY A REPUBLICAN SUPREME COURT. This is why I ask you to replace all Republicans at all levels. In this action, the Republican Party will not become "extinct", but it will have profound effect on American politics.

Thank you for reading and I am in hopes that I have given you positive thought in taking OUR Nation back.

Coalition of corruption

Corruption in Iraq. This message has been received today.

Paul Krugman

One thing may change the November's election.

Coalition of corruption

Polish politics make private business on the war. The corruption range to the highest authorities.

Polish Prime Minister Marek Belka was earlier the Chief of International Coordination Council in Iraq. As the chief of the council, he supported a choice of Bank Millennium (in which he was a member of the supervisory board) to the consortium that would menage the Trade Bank of Iraq. Accidentally, the Prime Minister admitted (in Polish parliament) that he had known how the members of the commission had voted - nevertheless, he was not a member of the commission.

Another matter regards to the public tender that decided about a contract on equipment for Iraq's army. In consortium that won the first tender was "Ostrowski Arms" - the firm that had not a license on the trade of weapons and whole firm was consists of a few persons. What is interesting in this firm? The owner and the chief of the firm was Andrzej Ostrowski - a good acquaintance of President Aleksander Kwasniewski. Mr. Ostrowski had issued a book about the calendar of the choice of F-16 to Polish army. It was only one book wroted by him ...and President Kwasniewski wrote an introduction to this book. At present, Mr. Andrzej Ostrowski is the accused of a trade of weapons without a license.

After the journalist's investigation regards Ostrowski Arms the public tender in Iraq was cancel. What the tender was it? The firm without license on a trade of weapons is the one of winners. The firm with a few people staff, not famous in branch... However, good famous for Aleksander Kwasniewski.

I think you should confirm both events: the run of the choice of the consortium managing the Trade Bank of Iraq and the choice of the unknown firm without a license on weapons trade to the consortium that was expected to equip the Iraq's army.

The international corruption affair will range to the high Bush's administration and to the highest Polish authorities.

Enclosed please find more details, nevertheless, it is only in Polish:

Rat gegen Mobilfunksender

Bauantrag einstimmig abgelehnt / Montag soll BI gegründet werden

Vom 30.10.2004

dal.
