50 Senators Vote Against Bush Privatization Scam

Yesterday, 50 US Senators voted to reject the Bush Social Security privatization scam! All Democratic Senators were joined by five Republicans to vote for a resolution that "Congress should reject any Social Security plan that requires deep benefit cuts or a massive increase in debt."

It's clear that we're making progress in the fight to protect Social Security -- but, this battle is far from over! Half of the Senate actually voted in favor of "deep benefit cuts or a massive increase in debt." This vote was a resolution expressing how Senators think Congress should act on Social Security. It's an important barometer of the Bush plan's support in the Senate -- split right down the middle.

Now is the time to write your Senator to let them know you are watching. We must keep the pressure on. Click on the link below to find out how your Senator voted -- congratulate those who stood with us, and put pressure on those who voted with their Wall Street friends instead of you.

We must not rest on our laurels. The progress we've made -- and continue to make! -- is encouraging, but the fight rages on. The pro-privatization forces have just unleashed a multi-million dollar television ad campaign to sell their privatization scam. We must step up the pressure and keep our momentum going.

Please write to your Senators to "thank" those who stood with us, and to "spank" those who stood with Wall Street. When your Senators hear from you -- and know that you're watching! -- they'll be more likely to work for us all in the days ahead. Please write today!

Thanks for doing your part!

Sincerely,
