A BILL To establish protections against compelled disclosure of sources, and news or information, by persons providing services for the news media.
A bill that would permit reporters to keep their sources, notes and reporting materials confidential in most circumstances has been introduced by Sen. Christopher J. Dodd (D – Conn). Thirty-one states have similar legislation but there is no federal law. Sen. Dodd filed his bill th day after Providence reporter Jim Taricani was found guilty of contempt.
