Illinois' wounded vets at bottom for benefits

"'The folks who do the adjudication in Chicago are pretty tough [deciding veterans' disability claims]," said Ed Anderson, a senior analyst at [the Department of Veterans Affairs] headquarters in Washington. "Folks there really look at everything with jaundiced eyes, and they are rather stringent in their application [of the laws]." In response to the newspaper report, U.S. Representative Lane Evans (D-Illinois) says he'll launch an investigation.
