Court Halts Bush Administration Effort to Limit Public Involvement in National Forest Management
In mid-September, a District Court ruled that the Administration must provide opportunities for public participation in decisions that affect all Forest Service lands. In particular, the court ruling affects certain projects that were classified as "categorical exclusions," a process which the Administration has increasingly used to eliminate environmental analysis and reduce public participation.
