5200 people from all over the country and even from other countries have signed up to oppose President Bush’s New Freedom Commission's plan to screen every child in United States schools for “mental illness.” These citizens have joined together in the following statement: “We, the undersigned, solemnly declare that we will not allow our children to be the subjects of any form of implementation of New Freedom Commission recommendations to screen our children for signs of ‘mental illness.’"

This question is for President Bush and I welcome comments from Senator Kerry. Mr. President, in light if the recent admission from the FDA, of the potentially harmful, even suicidal, side effects of antidepressants, particularly with our our nation's youth, will you you still continue with your plans to have the entire US population screened for "mental illnesses"? Many suspect that this initiative to be more on behalf of Pharmaceutical's "bottom line" rather than for our own wellbeing.
