Bloomberg still holding protestors prisoner
OH MY GOD, I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS!
I USUALLY DON'T CALL OR FAX - JUST SENT E-MAILS. BUT, THIS TIME IT WOULD BE UNCONSCIONABLE NOT TO TAKE ACTION. ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS THINK: WHAT IF WE WERE IN THE SAME POSITION AS THOSE BEING HED UP!
WE MUST BACK EACH OTHER UP
Otherwise, all these efforts and stuggles are empty and meaningless.
Mike, KEEP US POSTED!!!

I just learned from an extremely credible person, that there are in fact, still protestors being held captive under direct orders of the Bloomberg administration, unlawfully without charges or basis, in direct violation of a State Supreme Court ruling, which Bloomberg is still in the process of appealing.
The reason he is still holding them is because the city was fined hundreds of thousands of dollars, and Bloomberg doesn't want to pay the fines- so he is using these innocent people as "hostages" to try and force the courts to reverse the fines. The City Council is apparently afraid to speak up because the fines would affect spending initiatives they hold dear.
This is despicable, and completely unacceptable! The rights of these people SUPERCEDE the needs of Bloomberg and the City Council- they are innocents whose rights are being abused because Bloomberg doesn't want to respect the authority of the judicial system!
I implore, in fact, beg, everybody, to please BOMBARD bloomberg's offices with phone calls demanding he release these people at once!
If his office denies it- tell them you know they are LIARS!!
If Bloomberg gets away with this, countless mayors throughout the nation will do the same thing whenever they want to play hardball with the judicial branch of government. Innocent civilians are not instruments for the powerful to play Ping-Pong with.
Bloomberg MUST be held accountable, and he MUST release these people immediately!
212-NEW-YORK is the phone number for the Mayor's office
(212) 788-2460 is the FAX number!
Also call Bloomberg's PR representatives so THEY know that the people are aware of what Bloomberg is doing!
