Vodafone risks massive fine in Greek scandal
http://observer.guardian.co.uk/business/story/0,,1874087,00.html
This report in the Telegraph today (17th September 2006) reveals what many people suspect - that mobile phone operators have no scruples or morals when it comes to their profit margins and they don't care how they make their money, or at whose expense it is.
If it is true, this scandal highlights how low standards must have fallen in the World when big businesses will abuse their customers by infringing their right to privacy and also to receiving the emails that were intended for them, for no just cause. Perhaps it could be understood if we were talking about terrorist threats here, but then the Greek authorities would surely have been made aware and this scandal would not be happening.
The article states that Vodaphone "had contracted a committee of five university professors to draw up a report which will counter the allegations and indicated that it will take its case to the highest court in the land"
In other words, will Vodaphone use its excessive profits; creamed off of the customers it is abusing, to buy the means to quash this charge?
Now where have I heard something very similar before? Surely it can't be about the "science" involved as to whether phone masts are safe or not, can it?
