Several weeks ago, you sent more than 10,000 letters to several key countries asking them to vote against Japan’s proposal to reopen the hunt for humpbacks in international waters.

Your heartfelt activism has already made an impact: In South Korea, the city of Ulsan (where this year’s International Whaling Commission meeting is being held) has declared they will abandon plans to build a proposed whale and dolphin meat processing factory.

We are also encouraged by the early voting of the Government of China, which is asserting its leadership for whale conservation instead of just following Japan as it has done in past years.

But the most important whaling votes are yet to come, including a resolution criticizing Japan’s humpback whaling proposal. We need to keep the pressure on to make sure the songsters of the sea never have to face the cruelty and suffering of explosive harpoons ever again.

So far, Japan’s efforts to push forward their pro-whaling agenda have been thwarted at this year’s whale meeting, but Japan is working furiously to fly in other registered pro-whaling countries to shift the balance before the end of the week.

We can’t come close to matching the millions of yen Japan’s government is spending to push through their whaling agenda, but with your help, we may be able to ensure conservation-minded countries carry the day at this year’s meeting, protecting whales and the commission set up to protect them.

The Patriot Act’s infamous Section 215 grants the FBI the power to seize a vast array of sensitive personal information and belongings including medical, library and business records using a secret intelligence court that does not require any suspicion of individual criminal activity. Although a court order is required to obtain these records, judges are compelled to issue them, making judicial review in this process nothing more than a rubber stamp.

The FBI can use this new power to spy on innocent people. Those people forced by the FBI to provide this information -- whether a newspaper editor, librarian or website publisher -- could go to jail if they tell anybody anything about it.

The government has gone to great lengths to keep secret even the most basic information about the FBI's spying. For example, in answering questions posed by the House Judiciary Committee, then-Attorney General Ashcroft classified information that should not have been classified, including information that would have shown how often the FBI is spying on people based on their exercise of First Amendment rights.

Giving our government this kind of power to spy on innocent people is un-American. We need to build on our latest success and continue to push for much-needed reforms of the Patriot Act.

Thank you for signing the Downing Street Minutes letter to the president. I personally delivered your letter to the White House last Thursday.

Your participation in this issue has made a difference. The mainstream media has been very slow to report on this British Intelligence document claiming that evidence was being "fixed" to support the lead up to war against Iraq.

Yet, the neither the media nor President Bush could ignore the massive groundswell of interest demonstrated by the more than 560,000 individuals who joined you in signing this letter.

On Thursday, I led a hearing about the Downing Street Minutes to receive testimony from former Ambassador Joe Wilson, 27-year CIA veteran Ray McGovern, constitutional lawyer John Bonifaz, and Cindy Sheehan, who lost her son in Iraq.

Despite desperate attempts by Republicans to disrupt the proceedings, 32 Members of Congress attended this hearing. We were forced to use a cramped room in the basement of the Capitol little bigger than a closet, even though plenty of larger hearing rooms were available. The Republican Leadership also scheduled votes for nearly two straight hours in an unprecedented attempt to limit the ability of Democratic Members of Congress to participate in this hearing.

Thanks to your help, and the more than 560,000 individuals who signed this letter, the mainstream media felt compelled to cover this event. The room was packed with television cameras and there was significant coverage in national newspapers and radio networks. After the hearing I hand delivered the list of signatures along with a letter to the president signed by 122 Members of Congress demanding answers, and led a rally outside the White House.

We still have much more to do to make President Bush answer the questions raised by the Downing Street Minutes. Much work remains for us to bring this issue to the attention of all Americans.

Fight looms over state biomonitoring efforts
Industry opposes measuring contaminants in humans

SACRAMENTO -- Dr. Richard J. Jackson, the state's top medical officer, has a pretty good idea how much lead contaminates you and your family. Even though he's never tested you.

He knows this because he and other scientists have spent the past 50 years measuring and studying lead in the United States. They know the typical blood-lead level in children and adults.

But when it comes to flame retardants, plasticizers, pesticides or any of the dozens of chemicals found as often as lead in our bodies, Jackson has scant idea of what's normal.

He cannot, for instance, say whether the amount of a ubiquitous flame retardant -- polybrominated diphenyl ethers, or PBDEs -- tainting your daughter is typical, let alone what it means for her health.

And that, Jackson said, is a problem.

"It's so much easier to make public policy and make decisions when you have real data from real people," Jackson said as he spoke to a group of about 40 industry and government representatives at a human exposure workshop last week.

California needs a statewide biomonitoring program to track our exposure to various chemicals, from trans fat to PBDEs and organophosphate pesticides, Jackson said.

Such a program would be neither cheap nor small, he warned. It would require testing hundreds of Californians of every stripe for a suite of contaminants. But without the information, Jackson said, state health officials face increasing difficulty making decisions about our health and environment.

"Biomonitoring is the future," Jackson said. "We've got to do it, but we've got to do it right."

A bill planting the seeds for such a program has cleared the state Senate but faces long odds in the Assembly, where the California Chamber of Commerce has labeled it a "job killer," and moderate Democrats -- many who represent Central Valley agriculture interests -- have successfully killed past efforts.

The obstacles are many. At that workshop last week organized by the International Society of Regulatory Toxicology and Pharmacology, a largely industry-backed group, participants questioned the need for biomonitoring data, particularly given substantial gaps in the ability of scientists and regulators to interpret the numbers.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, for instance, have found in urine plentiful evidence of plastic additives called phthalates, common in makeup, shampoo, soft plastic and vinyl floors. The CDC knows that women tend to have higher levels than men, and that children are even higher than women.

But they don't know whether those levels are dangerous or not.

"We're getting a bunch of levels without a statement -- a clear statement -- of their meaning," said Robert Kreiger, a toxicologist with the Personal Chemical Exposure Program at the University of California, Riverside. "That's half a loaf."

And are measurements of a particular contaminant in one population -- say, PBDEs in the breast milk of nursing moms -- representative for other people -- say, older women or men?

"We don't know," said Judy LaKind, adjunct associate professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. "Frankly, we do a pretty lousy job when we have chemicals that interact in non-simplistic ways. We're really just beginning to scratch the surface."

To the bill's sponsor, Sen. Deborah Ortiz, D-Sacramento, such ignorance offers more evidence of the program's need. She sees biomonitoring as a basic right to know: for individuals, to know what's in their bodies; for the state, to know exposure levels of potential carcinogens and synthetic toxins in Californians.

"The fear of the unknown is a legitimate concern," Ortiz said. "But it's ridiculous to stick our heads in the sand."

"We ought to tread very carefully in this new area. We ought not make assumptions from the data," she added. "But the first step is to gather information."

Biomonitoring programs in other countries have had a big impact on public health. Data from Sweden's breast milk monitoring program first alerted the world to PBDEs -- a very effective flame retardant common in foams, textiles and plastics -- after researchers watched levels rise exponentially in nursing moms in the'90s.

Two common commercial mixtures have since been banned in Europe, California, Maine, Hawaii and other states, though a third version remains unrestricted.

Closer to home, Jackson, the medical officer, needed human exposure information when he was a physician with the Department of Health Services during the 1981 medfly scare in Santa Clara County. With such information, he said, he could have told residents whether their chemical "body burden" of the malathion used to control the pest was normal.

But he didn't have it. So instead, scared residents fired rifles at helicopters spraying the pesticide.

Jackson sees myriad uses for such a program. Studies suggest, for instance, that African Americans have lower vitamin C levels than whites, particularly African Americans who smoke. Is that true in California?

What about efforts to push healthy diets and publish more nutrition information on food labels. Are trans-fat levels decreasing here?

A biomonitoring program could answer both questions. "It's a very powerful data set," Jackson said.

But to look at biomonitoring's true worth, Jackson again turns to lead.

Twenty five years ago, data showed levels of lead -- a potent neurotoxin -- dropped in blood as the metal was phased out of gasoline. That sealed its fate as an additive to paint, gasoline and other products. Researchers believe the average IQ has risen by 5 points in the United States as a result of lower blood-lead levels, with one IQ point worth an estimated $15,000 in lifetime income.

"That's a $75,000 gift for every child born in the U.S. compared to when I was born," Jackson said.

OBJECTORS to a controversial phone mast have won their battle against the planning decision that allowed it to go up just metres from their homes.

Residents felt so strongly about the T-Mobile mast in Wycombe Road that they submitted their case for judicial review by the High Court in an attempt to get the decision quashed.

Homeowner Jennifer Redman, 67, who lives near the mast, was told in February that the value of her home had plummeted by £45,000 since its arrival.

The mast was approved under delegated powers by Wycombe District Council back in November last year.

But the Free Press can now reveal that the matter has been dealt with outside court, and that both parties have agreed to a consent order, which will reverse the planning decision.

The case was submitted by leader of the residents, David Reynolds, whose legal team challenged the council decision directly.

He said: "I'll just be happy when they take the mast away. I'm very grateful for the neighbours' support.

"We were right in our position and it took a lot of detective work to actually find the mistakes that should have been exposed by Wycombe."

The decision, which will become official once it is read out in the High Court, means that unless a new planning application by T-Mobile is successful, the mast will have to be taken down altogether.

T-Mobile refused to comment at this stage or say whether they were planning to resubmit their application.

Lawyers acting for Mr Reynolds claimed that the approval given by the council was flawed, because it failed to take into account other sites in the area that could have accommodated the mast.

This includes a site at Bencombe Farm which, they claimed, was not sufficiently considered because T-Mobile had looked at incorrect grid references of the location.

Lawyers were also unhappy that Great Marlow School , in Bobmore Lane , which is just 150 metres from the mast, was not consulted by the council despite a government report saying that radiation beams of the "greatest intensity" strike the ground between 50 and 200 metres.

In legal arguments, the council said it did take objections into account, including suggestions of other possible sites for the mast.

It also said that in terms of policy, it was not its responsibility to question the need for the mast. Through their own "standard procedure", they had decided not to contact the school over the application.

Dan Rosenberg, of Public Interest Lawyers, acting for Mr Reynolds, added: "The council did not consult the school, the application contained inaccuracies and the operator even got grid references of neighbouring masts wrong.

"It is correct that such a decision affecting so many people should be looked at again."

The council has been ordered to pay Mr Reynolds' legal costs as part of the consent order, which he claims could reach around £18,000.

A council spokesman added: "In this instance it was deemed that a speedy and effective resolution should be sought and as such the council entered into negotiations with all parties to successfully produce the Consent Order."

Die jüngsten Versuche von Bundesinnenminister Otto Schily, den Bundesbeauftragten für den Datenschutz (BfD) Peter Schaar zu maßregeln, werden von Dr. Thilo Weichert, Leiter des Unabhängigen Landeszentrums für Datenschutz Schleswig-Holstein und derzeit Vorsitzender der Konferenz der Datenschutzbeauftragten des Bundes und der Länder, zurückgewiesen. Schily hatte behauptet, der BfD überschreite seine Kompetenzen und betreibe Amtsmißbrauch, wenn er Zeitplan und Technik bezüglich der Einführung biometrischer Pässe in Frage stellt.

Weichert: "Nicht nur der BfD, die gesamte Konferenz der Datenschutzbeauftragten des Bundes und der Länder hat jüngst die völlig unnötige Eile bei der Einführung elektronischer Pässe kritisiert, weil zentrale grundrechtliche, technische und organisatorische Fragen bis heute nicht geklärt sind. Hätte der BfD Schilys Ausweisplanungen unkommentiert gelassen, so könnte man ihm eher vorwerfen, seine gesetzlichen Aufgaben zu unterschreiten. Schilys Biometriepolitik wähnt sich modern, stammt aber aus der Requisitenkammer des letzten Jahrhunderts, als Datenschutz von Vielen noch als ein Widerspruch zu einer modernen Sicherheits- und Technologiepolitik angesehen wurde. Inzwischen ist es Common Sense, dass Technologieförderung und Grundrechtsschutz zusammengehören und zusammenpassen. The info I got is from Project Censored 2003 Page 93. Dena Montague writes "nearly four million people dead in four years of ware in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and the world remains silent in the fact of an abominable atrocity."

The area is beginning to be reported now in 2005, but hardly any reference to the mineral tantalum (also known as coltan). The price has got up because it is used to make mobile phones. DRC has 80% of world's coltan reserves. Also magazines New African Magazine and Africa Confidential. I believe there has been two documentaries on British television in recent years but I missed them both. In Europe I believe there has been a campaign "No Blood On My Mobile" to stop people mindlessly buying the latest mobile and so keeping the demand for coltan high.

It would be interesting to hear Geldof's comments on Congo and coltan, if he knows there is a link. And all the other stars who help promote mobile phone companies.

You see, this is not happening in Africa, Mr Geldof, it is happening right here in your own country. The victims of their social experiment are my family, and many, many other families like ours who find themselves living within the shadows of their monstrous masts, and dealing with the devastating impact upon their health caused by the radiation these masts emit. And our Government - despite their own scientific advisers urging them to take a precautionary approach to the siting of these masts - refuse to listen to our fears, and seem hellbent on supporting these companies with the roll out of their deadly technology. Seems to us that - like the tobacco and drinks industries that preceded it - the mobile telecommunications industry is this Government's cash cow, and they are milking it for all it is worth. Thanks to Live8's actions, the cow just got considerably fatter.

And there I was a few weeks ago - when I first heard about Live8 - fantasising that, with your vision, you would be the ideal person to support our cause. Still, I find it very hard to believe that you, of all people, have knowingly 'sold out' to this industry.

The people are very ill and dying in their droves from the very hard taskmasters who are employed to oversee the mining. I would beg you to take close look at these issues before tying yourself to the mobile phone corporations.

Seltene Lebensräume: Massive Holzeinschläge in Hessens Wäldern empören Naturschützer (20.06.05)

Der Naturschutzbund NABU wirft dem Land Hessen rücksichtslose Fällungen in Schutzgebieten vor. Die Sägen machten auch vor über 140 Jahren alten Bäumen nicht Halt. Die Lebensräume von Tieren, die auf solche alten Baumbestände angewiesen sind, gingen massiv zurück. Die Naturschützer warnten vor einer Zerstörung der Naturschätze, für die das Land eine Erhaltungsverpflichtung eingegangen sei. So sei im Biosphärenreservat Rhön etwa ein geeigneter Horstbaum eines Schwarzstorches gefällt worden, obwohl dieser Teil der Rhön extra als EU-Vogelschutzgebiet zum Schutz des Schwarzstorches ausgewiesen worden sei. Im Lorscher Wald an der Bergstraße sei trotz Fällverbot ein alter Baum mit brütenden Schwarzspechten gefällt worden. Am Boden hätten sich drei der Jungvögel gefunden, die den Umsturz überlebt hatten. Der Stammabschnitt mit der Höhle sei zersägt und zerhackt worden, um die Spuren zu verwischen. Der Naturschutzbund forderte vom Land Hessen einen sofortigen Stopp der Einschläge in Altholzbeständen bis zur eindeutigen Klärung der Erhaltungsziele. Außerdem müsse der Umweltminister rasch die Einschlagzahlen von 2004 offenlegen.

Da die Konferenzteilnehmerzahl aber noch steigt, befürchten die Naturschutzorganisationen eine Verschiebung der Kräfte mit "fatalen" Folgen. Pro Wildlife betonte, dass die Walfangländer seit je her systematisch Vorschriften umgangen und gebrochen hätten.

amnesty international: Deutschem Menschenrechtsbericht fehlt kritische Selbstbetrachtung (20.06.05)

Die Bundesregierung hat es in ihrem jüngsten Menschenrechtsbericht versäumt, sich mit den eigenen Erfolgen und Misserfolgen selbstkritisch auseinander zu setzen. Zu dieser Ansicht kommt die internationale Menschenrechtsorganisation amnesty international (ai) am Montag. Der "7. Bericht der Bundesregierung über ihre Menschenrechtspolitik in den Auswärtigen Beziehungen und in anderen Politikbereichen" verliere sich stattdessen in Beschreibungen nationaler und internationaler Strukturen und Ereignisse. amnesty begrüßte dagegen den erstmalig enthaltenen "Aktionsplan Menschenrechte".

Beckstein und Lafontaine: Warnungen vor Zuwanderungs-Wahlkampf (20.06.05)

Bayerns Innenminister Günther Beckstein (CSU) hat mit seiner Ankündigung eines "massiven" Wahlkampfes mit dem Thema Zuwanderung Besorgnisse bei in Deutschland lebenden Migranten ausgelöst. Der Islamrat, der Interkulturelle Rat und die Arbeitsgemeinschaft Pro Asyl warfen Beckstein vor, Migranten und Flüchtlinge zu "Sündenböcken" für die wirtschaftlichen Probleme im Land zu machen. SPD, Grüne und FDP kritisierten Beckstein ebenfalls. Beckstein hatte am Wochenende angekündigt, die Zuwanderung werde von der gesamten Union "massiv im Wahlkampf thematisiert". Er warf Rot-Grün vor, eine "massenhafte Zuwanderung" zu planen. Ähnlich äußerte sich Unions-Fraktionsvize Wolfgang Bosbach (CDU).

München/Passau (dpa) - In Bayern haben 22 Bauern unwissentlich gentechnisch veränderten Mais angebaut. Die Landwirte hatten herkömmliches Saatgut bestellt, vom Hersteller aber mit Genmais belastete Samen geliefert bekommen. Der Ökolandbauverband Biokreis in Passau bezeichnete die Verunreinigung als «Skandal». Weder die betroffenen Bauern noch die Verbraucher seien informiert worden. Nach Angaben des bayerischen Umweltministeriums vom Montag bedeutet die Panne für die Verbraucher keine Gefährdung, da die Gensaat in der Europäischen Union zugelassen sei. Die Landwirte hatten rund 150 Hektar mit dem Saatgut bepflanzt.

Anxious residents in Congleton are urging the council to reject plans for a mobile telephone mast amid fears for children's health.

Concern is mounting that a built-up area heavily populated by young families could be dangerously exposed to radioactive emissions if a base station earmarked for a site near the railway station gets the go-ahead.

Although experts have yet to find firm evidence linking telephone masts to illness, the CW12 residents group, which has carried out extensive research examining the health risks posed by radioactivity, said that children were vulnerable to tumours and even cancer.

The health alert was sounded after telecommunications firm Vodafone confirmed it would be seeking planning permission in the coming weeks to install a 15m. mast and an equipment cabin outside the Railway Hotel on Biddulph Road.

It comes just months after a Government report advised against mobile phone masts being put up near schools.

This week, campaigners were planning to meet borough council leader Roland Domleo to inform him of the health risks involved.

Ian Hawkes, (60), who lives in nearby Fenton Close, has been looking into the effects of radiation on health for the past five years and has written a booklet warning of the risks.

He said: "I am concerned over the effects the mast would have on the health of the children, as well as the rest of the residents in the neighbourhood.

"There is more and more evidence to support D.N.A. damage, tumours, and non-benign cancer being caused. or at least aggravated by, exposure to this type of radiation.

"It doesn't matter if it's high levels of exposure over a short time or low levels over a long time, in the end the result will be same."

Coun. Domleo vowed to "make sure every concern is considered", although he admitted he could not intervene with the planning procedure at this stage.

"I am surprised at the location of this site, which is why I want to make sure that every concern is fully considered," he said.

"It does concern me that there are people living very close to this site, particularly as health risks associated with telephone masts have not been confirmed or totally denied."

In a statement, Vodafone said the development "would not have any significant impact on any residential dwellings".

Also responding to residents claims that the mast would be an "eyesore" and a "blight to the community", it added: "Visual impact on the surrounding area has been kept to an absolute minimum and it is considered that an ultra slim line street works monopole will be an unobtrusive form on the existing land use."

Earlier this year widespread public concern prompted the Government to ask experts to investigate possible links between radiation exposure and illness.

The Independent Expert Group on Mobile 'Phones found from extensive research that children's developing nervous systems and thinner skulls made them likely to be more vulnerable to exposure than adults.

The report, by board chairman Sir William Stewart, also cited E.U.-backed tests which showed radiation was able to damage D.N.A. in human cells and a Swedish study linking long-term exposure to acoustic neuroma, a benign tumour deemed serious because of its positioning next to the brain.

A WINCHESTER couple say they will be reporting Hampshire County Council to the local government ombudsman over its decision to block their bid to buy a piece of land where a controversial phone mast is due to be sited.

Alan and Anne Saunders, who live in Chilbolton Avenue, are accusing the council of "mismanagement" of their application to buy the plot at Byron Avenue .

They want to know why, after accepting a £500 deposit, along with their formal request for legal rights over the land, the council "dragged its feet", notified phones giant, Orange, which has planning permission for a 39ft mast, and then decided, after all, not to sell it.

At a specially-convened meeting on Monday, cabinet members accepted the recommendation of Alison Quant, director of environment and head of corporate affairs, not to extinguish highways rights - and to refund the couple's deposit.

Mr Saunders, together with mast campaigners, Karen Barratt and Michael Etherington, spoke at the meeting.

They said the land was not used by pedestrians or cyclists as it was part of the verge and there was pavement in front of it.

They added that the land had been maintained by residents for nearly 30 years.

They pointed out that residents had planted on the land and it was used as a safe play area for children and was not in any way needed for high ways use.

Mr Saunders also added that should the land come into his possession there would be a legally binding covenant ensuring that no fencing would be erected on the site and nothing would be built there.

However, councillors thought the foliage was too overgrown and posed a risk to pedestrians and cyclists and the land should remain in council hands so that it could be maintained properly.

They also agreed with chief executive, Peter Robertson, that, should the land go to Mr Saunders, the county would have no control over it and would not be able to uphold any covenant agreement.

After the meeting Mrs Barratt said: "The decision is no surprise - we are used to being dismissed. Whatever they say about highways issues, we know councillors are nervous about what Orange might do and we're not giving up now."

Mr Saunders said: "It was ultimately predictable. They had a meeting two weeks ago which preempted this decision. It was just a democratic show. We are going to report them all to the ombudsman because of the way they proceeded with this.

"If we hadn't gone to the press, there would have been no meeting."

Mr Robertson said that it was Mrs and Mrs Saunders' right to report the council to the ombudsman if they so wished.

It is clear what the Founders had in mind by the Second Amendment. The question that remains for Christians is whether or not they can apply it to their activities and still be righteous. May a Christian join in resisting the state (1) generally or (2) particularly in America because the Second Amendment allows him to do so? I would answer both questions with the affirmative. One reason that the Apostles did not attack the Roman state was because they lacked the wherewithal to do so. Unlike the American Founders, they did not have the military strength to attempt such an overthrow. They also did not have a Second Amendment to back them up. I have previously argued that Christians may 'rebel' against tyrannical states when it is wise, prudent, and feasible to do so. Den größten Ansatzpunkt, den wir gegenüber den Mobilfunkkonzernen haben ist die Wirtschaftlichkeit. Immerhin sind es Firmen die Gewinne machen müssen und wenn sich Sendeanlage nicht rechnen werden sie auch abgebaut.

Die Österreicher besteuern jetzt Sendeanlagen, was ein guter Schritt in die richtige Richtung ist und wodurch sich der ein oder andere Anbieter vielleicht überlegt bzw. genauer rechnet was sich rentiert und was nicht.

Grundsätzliches zum Thema Mobilfunk/Elektrosmog

Früher war das überhaupt kein Thema, da sich die Belastung mit elektromagnetischen Feldern in engen zeitlichen und räumlichen Grenzen hielt: Rasierapparat, Staubsauger, Mikrowelle, Computer usw. waren nur minutenweise oder stundenweise in Betrieb, außerdem konnte man ganz schlicht durch Nichtbenutzung oder Ausschalten dem Problem entgehen. Hochspannungsfreileitungen waren schon immer sehr problematisch und nur durch ausreichenden Abstand zu entschärfen.

Da haben die Belastungen durch DECT-Telefone und Mobilfunk eine ganz andere Dimension erreicht: erstens: die 24 Stunden non Stop Bestrahlung und zweitens hat man kaum noch eine Chance, dem zu entgehen, weil hier eine flächendeckende Versorgung mit elektromagnetischen Wellen besteht.

Nun scheint mir bei vielen (6 % Elektrosensible gibt es bereits) das Maß voll. Der Mobilfunk ist also m.E. der Tropfen, der das Fass zum überlaufen bringt. Einige von uns haben sozusagen ein größeres Fass, da läuft noch nichts über. Aber dies scheint mir nur eine Frage der Zeit, falls wir weiterhin ungebremst und ungehemmt die Belastung mit Elektrosmog steigern.

Hier stellt sich mir grundsätzlich die Frage, wann reagieren wir und stoppen diese (vermeidbare) Belastung ? bei 10 % Elektrosensiblen oder erst bei 20 % ? oder erst dann, wenn wir alle krank sind und endlich die vielbeschworenen „Beweise“ haben (Vodafone-Beschwichtigungshymne, Vers 1 : „es ist ja noch nicht bewiesen“, Vers 2 : “Alle Grenzwerte sind eingehalten“) (und wenn man weiß, wie diese Grenzwerte zustande gekommen sind und wer alles in dieser Kommission sitzt, macht man ohnehin hier ein großes Fragezeichen dran und diskutiert nicht weiter)

Ich könnte mir vorstellen, dass zunächst mal die Sendeleistung halbiert wird und kein weiterer Sendemast installiert wird. Dies kann ohne große Einbußen bereits mit den vorhandenen Handys geschehen. Will man jedoch auch im hintersten Kellerverlies noch einwandfreien Handyempfang haben, müsste man andere Handys entwickeln mit verbesserter Empfangs- und Antennentechnik.

I have long suspected the American military deaths in Afghanistan and Iraq substantially exceed the numbers reported. It is so very easy to conceal the actual number. Each family that buries their son or daughter really has no basis to compare to the other families who bury their children. Each is a separate tragedy, each is a separate burial, and nobody really knows about the others.

Bush knows this. So does the rest of his little regime. They relied upon it. Nobody really knows how many of our kids have come back dead, because there is no independent clearing house outside "official" government totals.

A funeral here, a funeral there, and nobody in America really knows for certain how many of our kids have died. We are a nation of almost 300,000,000! It is very easy to conceal the deaths of even 50,000, since each funeral is only locally reported.

What we need to do, and what this article proposes, is that all American families who have lost loved ones in Afghanistan and Iraq, need to report in to a central, independent accounting website. We do that, and the lie is exposed.

in dem Symposium "Mobilfunk: Fakten, Nutzen, Ängste" haben die Mitglieder des "Forums Technologie" der Bayerischen Akademie der Wissenschaften u.a. folgende Schlussfolgerungen gezogen:

"Die Energiedichte der elektromagnetischen Wellen ist bereits wenige Meter von einer Basisstation entfernt wesentlich geringer (um den Faktor 100 bis 1000) als beim Betrieb eines Handys in Kopfnähe. Außer einer geringfügigen (0,1 Grad) thermischen Gewebeerwärmung etwa durch das dauernd betriebene Handy in Kopfnähe sind in der Wissenschaft bei Einhaltung der gültigen Grenzwerte derzeit keine merkbaren negativen oder gar Krankheiten auslösende Faktoren bekannt."

Mir wurde von einer - bei einem Patienten nachgewiesenen - Gewebeerwärmung von 0,7 Grad berichtet. Weitere Einzelheiten sind mir nicht bekannt.

In einer Live-Diskussion des tvm-Stadtgesprächs am 7.6.2005 haben Sie die Aussage gemacht, dass es k e i n e Wirkungsunterschiede zwischen ungepulster und gepulster Strahlung gäbe!! Ferner, warum sollte Mobilfunk schädlich sein, wo doch die Rundfunk- und Fernsehsender vielhundertfach stärker senden. Es tritt unter der Mobilfunkantenne keine Strahlung auf und die vielen wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten der letzten Jahre hätten alle keinen Nachweis erbracht, dass Mobilfunk krank macht.

Von der Bayerischen Akademie der Wissenschaften und ihren Repräsentanten würde man erwarten, dass sie wissenschaftlich neutral sind und nicht die Interessen einer Wirtschaftsgruppe (Mobilfunk) vertreten!

Ist Ihnen nicht bekannt, dass schon in der ehemaligen Sowjetunion negative gesundheitliche Auswirkungen der Mobilfunkstrahlung festgestellt und deshalb niedrigere Grenzwerte, als in Deutschland eingeführt wurden. Die Sowjets wollten ihre Bürger nicht unnütz gesundheitlich schädigen. Können wir uns die Schädigung unseres Humankapitals leisten?

Ca. 2000 Ärzte setzen sich für einen gesundheitsverträglichen Mobilfunk ein (Freiburger Appell, Nailaer Arztstudie, Hofer Appell, Bamberger Appell: "Dokumentierte Gesundheitsschäden unter dem Einfluss hochfrequenter elektromagnetischer Felder", niederländische Studie des Instituts TNO über UMTS-Signale). Sollten diese und alle anderen Arbeiten über negative gesundheitliche Auswirkungen des Mobilfunks der Bayerischen Akademie der Wissenschaften nicht bekannt sein??

Prof. Dr. Ing. Alexander H. Volger hat in "Mobilfunk und seine Technikfolgen, Sachstand und Handlungsbedarf (Aktualisierte Fassung Sept. 2002) u.a. festgestellt: "Die derzeit bekannten Versuche, die ECOLOG-Studie und weitere kritische wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse zu relativieren und nicht anerkennen zu müssen, sind völlig unqualifiziert und lassen massive Voreingenommenheit erkennen.

Soweit bisher erkennbar, dürfte die angewandte periodische niederfrequente Pulsung auch bei sehr geringen Einstrahlungsdosen einen oder den entscheidenden Beitrag zur Schädlichkeit ausmachen.

Die Schutzbehauptung, "die Schädlichkeit sei nicht erwiesen", es fehle an der wissenschaftlichen Qualitätshöhe (z.B. Veröffentlichung und Verteidigung auf Kongressen, Reproduzierbarkeit), ist falsch und sogar absurd: Die Einzelwirkungen sind von renommierten Wissenschaftlern erforscht und dargestellt, und sie sind reproduzierbar, die epidemiologischen Studien sind ausreichend statistisch abgesichert, die berichteten Schadensfälle sind absolut zahlreich, aber einen Tumorfall sollte man wohl besser nicht reproduzieren wollen. Außerdem: Wo gibt es das sonst, dass die "Beschuldigten" für die Misere (Betreiber, Bundesregierung, Bundesämter, Strahlenschutzkommission) selbst die Beweiskriterien festlegen und die Beweise aussortieren dürfen?"

Den von oft hochkarätigen und gut dotierten Wissenschaftlern bei offiziellen Anlässen verbreiteten Desinformationen begegne ich immer wieder mal mit einem Brief nach etwa dem folgenden Muster:

Für Tausende von Bürgerinitiativen und all die leidenden Betroffenen sind Sie jetzt schon unglaubwürdig, und für Ihre forschenden Kollegen, die die Situation durchschauen, ohnehin schon lange.

Ich muss schon fragen, für wie dumm hält man uns Bürger eigentlich, wenn gebetsmühlenartig diese immer offensichtlicher werdenden Gesundheitsschäden von einer inzwischen sehr wohl bekannten Gruppierung von Personen immer wieder geleugnet werden, dann aber doch Vorsichtsregeln gegeben werden.

Wenn eines Tages all dies ans Tageslicht kommt und die Verantwortlichen zur Rechenschaft gezogen werden, können Sie nicht sagen, sie hätten nichts gewusst und sich aus der Affäre ziehen.

Aus diesen meinen etwas emotionalen Ausführungen sollte Ihnen klar werden, wie ernst die Lage ist. Stellen Sie sich als Wissenschaftler klar auf die Seite der Wahrheit und flüchten sich nicht in unerfüllbare Beweis-Szenarien der Schäden durch Mobilfunk und in die Länge gezogene Studien.

Der Großversuch an vielen Hundert Millionen Menschen und auch Tieren und Pflanzen weltweit läuft seit wenigstens 10 Jahren. Es ist genügend Beobachtungsmaterial vorhanden, man braucht es nur zur Kenntnis zu nehmen.

Aber die betreffenden Personen wissen dann, dass man sehr wohl weiß, was hier gespielt wird, und was sie selbst eigentlich auch wissen müssten. Mit solch einem Wissen im Hintergrund lügt es sich nicht mehr so leicht, und dazu noch, wenn einem klar gemacht wird, dass man mehr und mehr an Glaubwürdigkeit verliert und eigentlich auf verlorenem Posten kämpft, denn die Wahrheit lässt sich nicht allezeit unterdrücken.
