T-MOBILE 'BURIED' CANCER REPORT
http://omega.twoday.net/stories/3586360/

T-MOBILE 'BURIED' CANCER REPORT

The short report I've transcribed below features in today's (Sunday, April 15) Irish edition of the SUNDAY TIMES. Good of them (The S.Times) to publish it instead of burying or ignoring this type of report, like so many newspapers do.

T Mobile buried report

Phone cancer report ‘buried’

Daniel Foggo

T-MOBILE, the mobile phone giant, has been accused of “burying” a scientific report it commissioned that concluded handsets and masts contribute to cancer and genetic damage.

The report argued that officially recommended limits on radiation exposure should be cut to 1/1000th of those in force. The suggestion has not been taken up by the company or by regulators.

Campaigners claimed T-Mobile’s handling of the report was part of a wider pattern of behaviour by the industry in its efforts to keep discussion of the health risks off the agenda.

The Ecolog Institute, which has been researching mobile phone technology since 1992, was paid by T-Mobile to evaluate evidence on its potential dangers.

But Dr Peter Neitzke, one of the authors of the report, has accused T-Mobile, which has about 17m British customers, of diluting the findings by commissioning other studies from which it knew “no critical results or recommendations were to be expected”.

Guidance from the Health Protection Agency states that, while there is no conclusive evidence phones or masts jeopardise health, the technology has been in existence for only a relatively short time. It recommends that caution should be exercised in siting masts and using phones a lot, particularly where children are affected.

The Ecolog study, drawn up in 2000 and updated three years later, has only been published in Germany and was unknown to British campaigners until it was recently leaked to the Human Ecological Social Economic project (HESE), which examines the effect of electromagnetic fields on health.

Andrea Klein, a member of HESE, said: “T-Mobile tried to dilute and bury it.”

Ecolog’s report, which analysed dozens of peer-reviewed studies, stated: “Given the results of the present epidemiological studies, it can be concluded that electromagnetic fields with frequencies in the mobile telecommunications range do play a role in the development of cancer.

“This is particularly notable for tumours of the central nervous system.”

Neitzke said that once T-Mobile realised the likely outcome of his study it commissioned further research.

The phone company said: “It was the aim of T-Mobile to engage four different institutes with the same questions to guarantee an independent and objective discussion. All the institutes and people involved are well known and respected experts.”

How to bury the evidence: a lesson from T-mobile

Dilution is the solution for pollution. Dilution of studies is the best protection strategy of the industry against lawsuits. This is the lesson from T-Mobile. That's why the industry needs the Interphone scientists, they dilute the regular users with rare users by building a new definition of regular user.

Iris Atzmon

Iris,

nothing new about it! Prof. Semm who researched the hazards of mobile phones on behalf of German Telekom (including todays T-Mobile), found in 1995 serious problems and pointed out a number of times high ranked managers had seen his tests live. So they were perfectly well aware about the dangers, just before they started making a microwave oven out of most countries, with help of those day and night sending DECT wireless phones!

There seems quite a broad range of animals he used to study the influence of mobile phones and found tremendous problems, Prof. Semm gave up on using a mobile phone.

Mobile phone study covered up

A study which directly linked the radiation from mobile phone transmitter masts with an increased risk of developing cancer was covered up by operator T-Mobile, a scientist has claimed.

Date:18/04/2007

The Ecolog Institute, a German research organisation which has been examining the effects of mobile phones since 1992, was commissioned by TMobile in 2000 to investigate the possible health risks of mobile phone masts.

Dr Peter Neitzke, one of the authors of the eventual report, said that when TMobile realised that the research was going to produce potentially damaging results, the company immediately commissioned three other studies which were more likely to show no danger from electromagnetic radiation.

Neitzke's study was available only in Germany until it was leaked to the Human Ecological Social Economic Project (HESE) earlier this month.

The Ecolog study concluded:
'Given the results of the present epidemiological studies, it can be concluded that electromagnetic fields with frequencies in the mobile telecommunications range do play a role in the development of cancer. This is particularly notable for tumours of the central nervous system.'

T-Mobile told the Daily Mail:
'It was the aim of T-Mobile to engage four different institutes with the same questions to guarantee an independent and objective discussion. All the institutes and people involved are well known and respected experts.'

Tree deformities found near EMF

I have been doing some basic investigations in the area regarding microwave towers and high tension power lines. I am documenting my findings on paper and with photograph. Mostly I am focusing on plants and trees reactions to EMF. My findings so far are pretty conclusive.

For example there is a fantastic commons area with even spaced spruce trees growing under a high tension power line system about a mile from my home. Even with casual observation it isn't hard to see that the trees growth is being changed. The trees all have a deficit in growth on the sides facing the EMF field. I have photographs of this I will be posting in a couple days that show just what I am saying. It isn't wind since regardless of placement the trees are showing this. It isn't trimming, as the trees are only 5-15 feet tall, not to the point the utility company would prune them by a longshot.

Second thing I have noticed, often I am finding trees dying or defaced that are facing microwave towers. Anyway, pictures soon. So what does it tell us when natures own is severely stunted, and scrambling to avoid exposure the best they can? Grow levels on the far sides of the tree are significantly better than the ones within closer proximity of the EMF field.

See attached file please. Consider this a preliminary report:

Are mobile phones wiping out our bees?
http://omega.twoday.net/stories/3584203/

Social psychologists have shown that it is easier for people to harm other people when they do so under the orders of an authority figure - and further if done so indirectly and incrementally. When you add in the unconscious elements of conformity (everyone else is doing it so it must be OK), convenience, selfishness, greed, and denial, well you naturally have the ingredients for a disaster.

As some of you may know, I moved to a tiny relatively technology free area recently. We have many bees and so many birds of so many kinds, especially the smaller birds like the blue tips and sparrows, robins, wrens etc. I wake to a massive chorus of the birds at around 5am every morning. It is so loud and magnificent that my heart bursts with the joy of it and I rise happily to start my day. The bees buzz around all day and the sound makes me smile just to know they are safe here.

The people living in this area are relaxed and friendly and there is a "feel good" factor that I had forgotten. Yet this space is only about half a mile x half a mile and a TETRA line runs through some of it from the Isle of Wight several miles away! This line of emissions is about 6ft wide with another harmonic addition about 6 mtrs away.

I have to do the TETRA run everyday because it runs at the top of my road, which is a cul-de-sac! However since my home where I sleep is emission free I get only mild effects. So the key to all this is to sleep in an emission free place - or protect it so that it is emission free.

If only we could do that for all human, animal and plant life to spare all this pain, illness and destruction. No amount of money is worth even one life.

Scientists claim radiation from handsets are to blame for mysterious 'colony collapse' of bees

By Geoffrey Lean and Harriet Shawcross

Published: 15 April 2007

It seems like the plot of a particularly far-fetched horror film. But some scientists suggest that our love of the mobile phone could cause massive food shortages, as the world's harvests fail.

They are putting forward the theory that radiation given off by mobile phones and other hi-tech gadgets is a possible answer to one of the more bizarre mysteries ever to happen in the natural world - the abrupt disappearance of the bees that pollinate crops. Late last week, some bee-keepers claimed that the phenomenon - which started in the US, then spread to continental Europe - was beginning to hit Britain as well.

The theory is that radiation from mobile phones interferes with bees' navigation systems, preventing the famously homeloving species from finding their way back to their hives. Improbable as it may seem, there is now evidence to back this up.

Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) occurs when a hive's inhabitants suddenly disappear, leaving only queens, eggs and a few immature workers, like so many apian Mary Celestes. The vanished bees are never found, but thought to die singly far from home. The parasites, wildlife and other bees that normally raid the honey and pollen left behind when a colony dies, refuse to go anywhere near the abandoned hives.

The alarm was first sounded last autumn, but has now hit half of all American states. The West Coast is thought to have lost 60 per cent of its commercial bee population, with 70 per cent missing on the East Coast.

CCD has since spread to Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Greece. And last week John Chapple, one of London's biggest bee-keepers, announced that 23 of his 40 hives have been abruptly abandoned.

Other apiarists have recorded losses in Scotland, Wales and north-west England, but the Department of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs insisted: "There is absolutely no evidence of CCD in the UK."

The implications of the spread are alarming. Most of the world's crops depend on pollination by bees. Albert Einstein once said that if the bees disappeared, "man would have only four years of life left".

No one knows why it is happening. Theories involving mites, pesticides, global warming and GM crops have been proposed, but all have drawbacks.

German research has long shown that bees' behaviour changes near power lines.

Now a limited study at Landau University has found that bees refuse to return to their hives when mobile phones are placed nearby. Dr Jochen Kuhn, who carried it out, said this could provide a "hint" to a possible cause.

Dr George Carlo, who headed a massive study by the US government and mobile phone industry of hazards from mobiles in the Nineties, said: "I am convinced the possibility is real."

The case against handsets

Evidence of dangers to people from mobile phones is increasing. But proof is still lacking, largely because many of the biggest perils, such as cancer, take decades to show up.

Most research on cancer has so far proved inconclusive. But an official Finnish study found that people who used the phones for more than 10 years were 40 per cent more likely to get a brain tumour on the same side as they held the handset.

Equally alarming, blue-chip Swedish research revealed that radiation from mobile phones killed off brain cells, suggesting that today's teenagers could go senile in the prime of their lives.

Studies in India and the US have raised the possibility that men who use mobile phones heavily have reduced sperm counts. And, more prosaically, doctors have identified the condition of "text thumb", a form of RSI from constant texting.

Professor Sir William Stewart, who has headed two official inquiries, warned that children under eight should not use mobiles and made a series of safety recommendations, largely ignored by ministers.

"ARE MOBILE PHONES KILLING OFF BRITAIN'S HONEY BEES?"

Scientists studying the mass disappearance of honey bees say mobile phones may be the cause. In recent years, hives have been abandoned in huge numbers across Europe. Last week, John Chapple, one of London's major beekeepers, found that 23 of his 40 hives had been abruptly abandoned. Now scientists suggest radiation given off by mobile phones & high tech (microwave) gadgets is interfering with bees' navigation systems. German studies have shown bees refuse to return to hives when a mobile phone is nearby. The vanishing bees are never found & are belived to die alone far from their hives. The issue is a serious problem because bees are vital for pollinating food crops. The alarm over the vanishing bees was first sounded last autumn in USA. Now America's East Coast has lost up to 70% of its commercial bee population & the West Coast up to 60%.

Bees 'killed by mobile phone signals'
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/04/16/nbees16.xml

By Bonnie Malkin
16/04/2007

An unusually high number of honey bee deaths in Britain this year may be caused by radiation from mobile phone signals, say experts.

British beekeepers have called for further research following the release of a German study showing that radiation can interfere with bees' navigation systems.

In some cases, 70 per cent of bees exposed to radiation failed to find their way back to the hive after searching for pollen and nectar, according to the research by Landau University. advertisement

The researchers placed cordless-phone docking units, which emit electromagnetic radiation, into bee hives.

Bee experts are struggling to determine the cause of colony collapse disorder (CCD), a mystery condition in which bees suddenly abandon their hives and disappear to die.

In America, 24 states are affected and losses of 50 to 90 per cent of colonies have been recorded. CCD recently spread to Poland, Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal and last week some keepers in Britain reported losses exceeding the 10 per cent of colonies that usually die during winter.

John Chapple, one of London's foremost beekeepers, said 30 of his 40 hives were empty and that other hives around London had lost up to 75 per cent of their bees.

If CCD does take hold in Britain it could have far-reaching implications for farming, as bees pollinate millions of hectares of fruit trees and crops.

The pollination is worth £200 million to Britain's farmers each year. The total contribution by bees to the economy is worth up to £1 billion.

Brian Dennis, of the Bee Improvement and Bee Breeding Association, said: "There is so much being said about CCD in America and [radiation] hasn't been mentioned.

"Until someone does a large study, it is hard to be sure."

Bees impacted by Wireless

Ok so I had to wait for a few days before the media came up with a good article regarding Bees and Cell phone or mobile technology. The National Post indicated that a small study using high frequency radiation from a mobile phone has disrupted a hive. Please see http://www.canada.com/topics/technology/news/gizmos/story.html?id=0285cf81-46d2-4636-aea7-dc02157a1d77&k=86662

The Canada.com article says "The small study, led by Prof. Jochen Kuhn of Landau University, suggests that radiation from widely used cellphones may mess up the bees’ homing abilities by interfering with the neurological mechanisms that govern learning and memory. It also appears to disrupt the insects’ ability to communicate with each other. To conduct the study, Kuhn placed cellphone handsets near hives and observed that radiation in the frequency range of 900 to 1800 megahertz caused the bees to avoid their homes. "

If any Ontario Bee producer would like to use a wireless Mesh at the 2.4 Ghz range to test if the wireless mesh disrupts the hive I would provide the equipment. Since I don't have ample supply I will limited to only a hand full request.

Contact Don at 647-476-2231 ext 2000 or email me at don@moskaluk.com I would like to observe if Wi-Fi signals disrupts the hive.

[Well, is this a challenge? - Any North American contacts want to take him up?]
