A Rationale for a Biologically-based Public Exposure Standard for Electromagnetic Fields (ELF and RF)

Time is nearing for the release of the BioInitiative Report. Thought you'd appreciate seeing the press release.

We are hoping for a large media coverage of the details of this report.

Thanks and best regards,
Cindy Sage

BioInitiative from Safe Wireless Initiative

http://www.buergerwelle.de/pdf/bioinitiativereport.pdf

We have released the following today in support of the BioInitiative Report. Please share as appropriate.

"The BioInitiative Report represents a strong comprehensive review of EMR science -- perhaps the most precise done to date. The panel of expert doctors and scientists is world class. In the United States, this report should prompt Congressional Hearings on the entire issue of EMR disease risks, the inadequacies of the system to protect public health from these dangers, and most importantly steps that can be taken to mitigate the risks for future generations. It is noteworthy that since the original Congressional Hearings on cell phone radiation in 1993, the Congress has been silent on the issue -- even as mounting medical science shows confirmatory evidence of harm. In a presidential election cycle, controversial issues that may jeopardize political contributions are usually ignored. However, the exponentially increasing exposures to all types of EMR is unprecedented in history....three billion people are now exposed to wireless devices by choice every day, and 80 percent of the world's population by involuntary exposure simply by being in environments where wireless signals are present. EMR disease and environmental impacts are every bit as important as global warming, AIDS and other issues that have taken on political importance around the world. With the emergence of the BioInitiative Report, and the corroborative science before it, this important work challenges politicians in the U.S. and the world to either take the protection of their consituencies seriously and take steps to protect them, or explain to those constituencies why they are not."

Radiation risk from everyday devices assessed

17 Sep 2007

A new report raising concerns about the effects of electromagnetic fields (EMF) on human health calls for tougher safety standards to regulate radiation from mobile phones, power lines and many other sources of exposure in daily life. The report, 'Bioinitiative: A Rationale for a Biologically-Based Public Exposure Standard for Electromagnetic Fields' was compiled by the BioInitiative Working Group, an international group of scientists, researchers and public health policy professionals. The EEA has contributed to this new report with a chapter drawn from the EEA study 'Late lessons from early warnings: the precautionary principle 1896–2000' published in 2001.

European Environment Agency contribution to Bioinitiative report:

Late lessons from early warnings: the precautionary principle 1896-2000 http://reports.eea.europa.eu/environmental_issue_report_2001_22/en

Note: EEA (European Environment Agency) has an official EU mandate:

The EEA aims to support sustainable development and to help achieve significant and measurable improvement in Europe's environment through the provision of timely, targeted, relevant and reliable information to policy making agents and the public.

Your Health and Fitness radio show host Layna Bernam interviews Cindy Sage of the BioInitiative Report

I am sending this radio show to most people on my email contact list because this is an issue I feel is quite serious. The BioInitiative Report - http://www.bioinitiative.org - was published on August 31st and documents the harm that wireless emissions cause.

Bioinitiative: Standards for Electrosmog Cindy Sage and David O. Carpenter, MD discuss the Bioinitiative Report that proposes better standards for exposure to electromagnetic fields based on the work of leading scientists.

http://www.yourownhealthandfitness.org/streamingaudio.php

The BioInitiative Report has led to a warning from the EU's European Environment Agency (EEA) calling for immediate action to reduce exposure to radiation from Wi-Fi, mobile phones and their masts, which suggests that delay could lead to a health crisis similar to those caused by asbestos, smoking and lead in petrol.

http://environment.independent.co.uk/lifestyle/article2966951.ece

And to Germany’s Environment Ministry's recommendation that people should keep their exposure to radiation from Wi-Fi "as low as possible".

If you follow the story of John Snow (MD), who likely saved thousands of peoples life, during 1854 when Cholera struck London.

http://www.csiss.org/classics/content/8

They didn't knew how Cholera really worked or even had the slightest scientifically proof. In fact the real reasons weren't found before Robert Koch (noble price 1905), a German medicinal doctor and scientist could isolate 1883 the culprit in Egypt and India. About 30 years later!

This is called precaution principle:

"Late lessons from early warnings: the precautionary principle 1896-2000"

http://reports.eea.europa.eu/environmental_issue_report_2001_22/en
http://www.eea.europa.eu/highlights/radiation-risk-from-everyday-devices-assessed

"Although the EEA does not have specific expertise in EMF, the case studies of public hazards analysed in the 'Late lessons ' publication show that harmful exposures can be widespread before there is both 'convincing' evidence of harm from long-term exposures, and biological understanding of how that harm is caused.

'There are many examples of the failure to use the precautionary principle in the past, which have resulted in serious and often irreversible damage to health and environments. Appropriate, precautionary and proportionate actions taken now to avoid plausible and potentially serious threats to health from EMF are likely to be seen as prudent and wise from future perspectives. We must remember that precaution is one of the principles of EU environmental policy,' says Professor Jacqueline McGlade, Executive Director of the EEA.

Current evidence, although limited, is strong enough to question the scientific basis for the present EMF exposure limits, according to the BioInitiative Working Group."

Now this is Europeans top environmental watchdog (EEA - European Environment Agency), but as already pointed out on this list, close to zero main stream coverage, where you'd think this should be on page 1 on every newspaper! It is quite likely humankind will suffer extremely and perhaps irreversible with all those wireless gadgets. ;(
