Once upon a time -- and not so many years ago -- lovers of liberty could look at the two major parties and say, as I did a few paragraphs back, that each had their good points. The Republicans might be bad on social policy, but were good on economics; the Democrats might be bad on economics, but at least they understood civil rights. Today, it is impossible to be impartial. The Republicans are more and more vile on social policy, and are insane on economics. The Democrats understand the importance of civil freedom -- and have at least understood that markets have a value. They still aren't the Party of Freedom -- but perhaps they can understand why, in a nation synonymous with freedom, they can be, and should be...
