My telephone at home rang shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday, and on the other end of the line was a friend from Huntsville, AL. 'Dwight, are you going to watch the Republican convention tonight?' Pamela Curry asked. 'No, Pam,' I replied. 'I watched some of that last night (Wednesday), and all I saw was a bunch of seemingly angry white men. I may watch some of the president's speech, but I don't want to see that stuff like Zell Miller and Dick Cheney were putting out.' 'Please, Dwight,' [she] said. 'Donnie McClurkin is going to be on tonight. You have to watch it. 'Somebody needs to bring the Lord up in there. Somebody has to spread the Word. Somebody black needs to be in there to let the Bush administration know that all people need to be treated fairly and equally...
