The Attack on Science

From environmental hazards to sex education, the federal government in the past several years has been twisting science to political ends. The ends are sometimes ideological -- as in the suppression of information about condoms and sexual safety -- and sometimes simply take the form of favors to business interests that would like to see less environmental, public health, or workplace safety regulation. But the pattern has become so pervasive that much of the scientific community is up in arms. The question is, what can be done to stop it?

An Open Letter to Our Leaders From a Concerned Iraq War Soldier

I am writing to you because you have been elected to serve the people. I am one of those people, my family is one family in America. We are just a family, we care about each other, we work hard and we believe in good things. We have a modest income, not much, but enough to give us what we need. Like most American families, we struggle with the way things are these days. We try to justify that our votes have mattered, our voices are heard, our opinions count, all the while watching decisions being made, unable to recognize the “voice of the people” in the final outcome. I have worked for years serving those whom I felt called to serve, our elderly. I have fought hard for them, to ensure that they receive the respect they deserve, not only from family, but from community as well. But now, I have left my fight for the elderly, to do what I can to help in a more significant effort. My husband works with an equal amount of passion. Everything that he has been asked to do by his employer, he has done. Everywhere he has had to go, he has gone with the trust that the words of his employer are honest, and committed to his needs and the needs of his fellow workers. Lies. My husband has had faith in an employer who cares more about the American lifestyle than its people. My husband is an American Soldier. My husband deserves so much more than what he has been given in return by his country. I deserve more, my children do. The families of all the soldiers who have VOLUNTEERED to serve and now are asked to fight in a war that is not about defending this country deserve more. This country has disrespected them at every turn. This country has and is failing them. It is failing all who have given with faith, who have fought for the right thing, who have been led in their commitment with the false promises and empty words of our leadership. This is the fight I take on now, and my husband joins me. Now, I write to show you some of the specifics of the last year of disrespect that my husband and I have seen, as his unit has prepared for a possible return deployment to Iraq...

hoy trato de escribirles en espanol. En nuestro television he visto la Gala de la Fundacion Internacional Jose Carreras para la lucha contra la leucemia.
Les informo sobre una causa para leucemia: la industria de "mobile phones" (Handy, microwaves). Esta situacion no es nueva a vosotros en Espana. Entiendo que la gente en Espana son mas agresivos contra la industria de mobile phones como los Alemanes. Congratulation a ellos en Espana!
Por esta tecnologia muchos hijos sufren y tambien han muerto en Espana durante los anos pasados y sea como sea, se pueden crecer todo del mundo si los politicos no prohibitan esta tecnologia ! Hay muchos estudios que senarnos de precaucion.
Abajo esta un articulo en aleman sobre leucemia en Espana que era publicado en La Verdad, Murcia, en 26.07.2004. Es solamente un ejemplo.
Creo que sin eliminacion de la causa de leucemia (aqui la industria de mobile phones) su trabajo es una lucha inproductiva. Por eso sea muy agradecido para su consideraction de esta causa.
Mis donativos van directamente y solamente a una familia aqui en Alemania con cuatro hijos que han sufrido muchisimo y por eso han salido su casa propria que esta cerca de una instalacion (Mobilfunk-Antennen). Ahora esta inmobiliaria no vale nada. La familia habia forzada de aquilar otra casa mas lechos de instalaciones para recibir su convalescencia y de preventar leucemia de los hijos.

1. La aparición de varios casos de cáncer en el colegio Gerónimo Belda de Cieza ha sembrado la inquitud entre las familias.
2. Aunque las quejas se registran desde hace años, ha sido ahora, con la muerte hace un mes de una alumna por leucemia, cuando varios de los padres han relacionado el posible efecto perjudicial de la antena con estos casos.
3. En cuatro años se han detectado tres niños enfermos en una población de 600 alumnos.
Se oculta información sanitaria?

Die spanische Zeitung "La Verdad" berichtet in ihrer Samstags-Ausgabe von einer Häufung von Kinderkrebsfällen im spanischen Ort Cieza (Schule: Gerónimo Belda). Danach sind in einer Schule in der Nähe eines Mobilfunksenders in 4 Jahren 3 Kinder an Krebs erkrankt, in einem Ort mit 600 Einwohnern. Eine Schülerin ist vor einem Monat an Leukämie gestorben. Eltern und Schüler sind nun besorgt, dass die Krebsfälle durch einen nahegelegenen Mobilfunksender verursacht sein könnten. Die Eltern fordern jetzt die sofortige Entfernung der Mobilfunkantenne, die sich neben der Schule befindet, sowie unabhängige epidemiologische Untersuchungen zur Feststellung der Ursache der Erkrankungen.
Die zuständigen spanischen Gesundheitsbehörden haben bereits eine solche epidemiologische Studie in Auftrag gegeben, deren Ergebnis in Kürze bekanntgegeben werden soll. Die Eltern vertrauen den Behörden jedoch nicht und haben eine zusätzliche unabhängige Studie in Auftrag gegeben, die von einem Unternehmen ausserhalb der Region durchgeführt werden soll. Die Eltern betonen, dass sie an der Feststellung der Ursache der Erkrankungen interessiert sind und sich nur so ihre Bedenken beantworten lassen.

Liebe Mitglieder,
das beigefügte Resümee vom 14. Oktober 2004 „Zum Stand des Mobilfunknetzausbaus in Maintal“ informiert Euch zusammenfassend über unsere Aktivitäten im vergangenen Jahr. Wie schwer es ist, gemeinsam mit der Stadtverwaltung gegen den Wildwuchs von Mobilfunkantennen vorzugehen, zeigt Euch auch das beigefügte Protokoll vom 15. November 2004: „Übergabe der Kartenausschnitte mit Alternativstandorten“.
Wenn Ihr kritische Fragen zu diesen Informationen habt oder Anregungen für unsere Arbeit los werden wollt schreibt oder ruft mich bitte an.
Bei allen unseren Aktivitäten müssen wir uns leider immer wieder mit der Normalität des Unerträglichen auseinandersetzen. Unsachlichkeit und Verantwortungslosigkeit sind in der Risikodiskussion Mobilfunk immer noch eine unerträgliche Normalität. Aufklärung tut not, ist aber gegen den massiven Widerstand der Mobilfunkindustrie auf allen Kommunikationsebenen nur schwer bis kaum durchzusetzen:
- Es ist unerträglich, wenn das Bundesamt für Strahlenschutz BfS in seinem Newsletter 02/03 die Einflußnahme der Politik auf seine wissenschaftliche Arbeit beklagt, weil es nicht alles tun und veröffentlichen darf, was es unter wissenschaftlichen Gesichtspunkten gern möchte und eigentlich sollte.
- Es ist unerträglich, wenn auf dem BUND-Mobilfunksymposium 2004 in Mainz die Vertreterin der Columbia Universität (USA) beklagt, dass eine unabhängige objektive Forschung auf dem Gebiet des Mobilfunks und seiner gesundheitlichen Auswirkungen praktisch nicht möglich ist, weil 80% der Forschung fest in der Hand der Mobilfunkindustrie sind, die jedes mobilfunkkritische Forschungsergebnis mit allen Mitteln versucht zu unterdrücken.
- Es ist unerträglich, wenn ein Prof. Dr. J. Breckow, Mitglied der Strahlenschutzkommission SSK, in der AfBUS-Sitzung am 09.09.2004 erklärt, dass es für athermische Wirkungen von Mobilfunkstrahlung keine wissenschaftlichen Nachweise gibt.
Ich habe den Professor schriftlich gefragt, ob er vor Gericht bestätigen würde, dass die gegenteilige SSK-Veröffentlichung von 1992: „Die unterhalb thermischer Intensitäten liegenden Membraneffekte wurden vielfach bestätigt, so dass ihre Existenz heute als gesichert gilt“, nach wie vor gültig ist? Er antwortete mir schriftlich: „Die von Ihnen zitierten Membraneffekte sind unbestritten. Mein Argument in der Maintaler Veranstaltung war, dass nicht jeder biologische Effekt zu einer gesundheitlichen Beeinträchtigung führt.“ !?
- Es ist unerträglich, wenn ein Prof. Dr.med. Th. Eikmann, Mitglied des Sachverständigenrats beim Bundesumweltministerium, in einem Gespräch am 20.08.2002 über „Mobilfunk und Blutuntersuchungen“ mir gegenüber erklärt: „Jedoch wird es trotz intensivster Forschung nicht möglich sein, für ein Risiko, das nicht vorhanden ist, den Nachweis zu erbringen, dass es nicht vorhanden ist!“. Zwei Jahre später stellt der TNO-Bericht der drei niederländischen Ministerien für Wirtschaft, Gesundheit und Telekommunikation fest: „Mobilfunkstahlung ist gesundheitsgefährdend! Der neue UMTS-Mobilfunk ist noch gefährlicher, als der bisherige GSM-Mobilfunk!“
- Es ist unerträglich, wenn ein 1.Stadtrat Erik Schächer im Schreiben vom 12.01.2004 an die Gemeinnützige Baugenossenschaft Bischofsheim erklärt: „ ... würde ich persönlich auch selbstverständlich ..... die Errichtung einer Mobilfunk-Basisstation in der Nähe meiner Wohnung dulden.“ Was sagt Herr Schächer denn heute zu der Nailaer Ärztestudie, die nach 10-jährigen epidemiologischen Untersuchungenzu zu dem Ergebnis kommt, dass in 400m Umkreis um eine Mobilfunk-Basisstation die Krebsrate dreifach so hoch ist, wie in weiterer Entfernung?!
- Es ist unerträglich, wenn die Stadtverwaltung sich weigert, ihre Planungshoheit über das Gemeindegebiet auszuüben und stattdessen die Planung sowie die technischen und wirtschaftlichen Eignungsuntersuchungen für Mobilfunk-Antennenstandorte den Mobilfunkbetreibern überläßt. Die Stadtverwaltung hat nicht nur die Planungshoheit auszuüben sondern auch eine Fürsorgepflicht für die Gesundheit ihrer Bürger wahrzunehmen!
- Es ist unerträglich, wie die Stadtverwaltung die Protest-Unterschriften von über 3000 Maintaler Bürgern gegen Mobilfunkantennen in Wohngebieten und den von 25 Maintaler Ärzten unterschriebenen Maintaler Ärzte-Appell unbeachtet ins Archiv ablegt. Unser Bürgermeister sollte sich ein Beispiel an den Bürgermeistern von Attendorn, Gräfelfing, Naila, Kapsweyer, Deiningen, Dachau, und vielen anderen Orten nehmen, die sich gemeinsam mit ihren Bürgern energisch gegen die skrupellos agierenden Mobifunkbetreiber zur Wehr setzen.
- Es ist unerträglich, wenn sich die Maintaler Stadtverwaltung von den Mobilfunkbetreibern mit der Drohung unter Druck setzen läßt, dass bei Widerstand gegen ihre skrupellosen Ausbaupläne Maintal ein weißer Fleck bleiben würde!? Wenn die Mobilfunkbetreiber alle Widerstand leistenden Orte, deren Anzahl täglich zunimmt, weiß lassen wollen, können sie ihre Mobilfunkumsatzpläne begraben.
Ich könnte die Beispiele für die Normalität des Unerträglichen noch beliebig fortsetzen. Der Mobilfunk boomt! Der Widerstand gegen den Wildwuchs von Mobilfunkantennen boomt ebenfalls! Dabei ist es nach dem heutigen Stand der Technik durchaus möglich, die Grundversorgung von Handy-Nutzern mit einer fächendeckenden Strahlungsintensität von maximal 1000 µW/m² durch Mobilfunkantennen außerhalb von Wohngebieten sicher zu stellen. Und es wäre für die Mobilfunkbetreiber zusätzlich auch noch wirtschaftlich, diese Antennen gemeinsam zu betreiben. Zum Wildwuchs und zur Vermehrung von Basisstationen hat ja maßgeblich der Wettbewerb der Betreiber beigetragen, die ihre je eigenen Netze errichten – so, als gäbe es für jede Automarke ein eigenes Autobahnnetz. Dies ist weder technologisch noch markttechnisch notwendig und schon gar nicht gesundheitlich sinnvoll. Umso wichtiger ist es, den konkurrierenden Einzelplänen der Mobilfunkbetreiber ein ganzheitliches Ausbau-Konzept der Stadt Maintal gegenüber zu stellen. Und die verantwortlichen Entscheidungsträger in der Stadtverwaltung sollen sich nicht herausreden, dass bisher alles nach Recht und Gesetz geschehen ist. Moralische und politische Verantwortung kann nicht durch Gesetzestreue ersetzt werden!
Laßt uns also weitermachen. Die wahren Optimisten sind nicht überzeugt, dass alles gutgehen wird. Aber sie sind überzeugt, dass nicht alles schiefgehen wird.

Die Stadtverwaltung hat nicht nur die Planungshoheit auszuüben sondern auch eine Fürsorgepflicht für die Gesundheit ihrer Bürger wahrzunehmen!

Unser Bürgermeister sollte sich ein Beispiel an den Bürgermeistern von Attendorn, Gräfelfing, Naila, Kapsweyer, Deiningen, Dachau, und vielen anderen Orten nehmen, die sich gemeinsam mit ihren Bürgern energisch gegen die skrupellos agierenden Mobifunkbetreiber zur Wehr setzen.

Ich könnte die Beispiele für die Normalität des Unerträglichen noch beliebig fortsetzen. Der Mobilfunk boomt! Der Widerstand gegen den Wildwuchs von Mobilfunkantennen boomt ebenfalls! Dabei ist es nach dem heutigen Stand der Technik durchaus möglich, die Grundversorgung von Handy-Nutzern mit einer fächendeckenden Strahlungsintensität von maximal 1000 µW/m² durch Mobilfunkantennen außerhalb von Wohngebieten sicher zu stellen. Und es wäre für die Mobilfunkbetreiber zusätzlich auch noch wirtschaftlich, diese Antennen gemeinsam zu betreiben. Zum Wildwuchs und zur Vermehrung von Basisstationen hat ja maßgeblich der Wettbewerb der Betreiber beigetragen, die ihre je eigenen Netze errichten – so, als gäbe es für jede Automarke ein eigenes Autobahnnetz. Dies ist weder technologisch noch markttechnisch notwendig und schon gar nicht gesundheitlich sinnvoll. Umso wichtiger ist es, den konkurrierenden Einzelplänen der Mobilfunkbetreiber ein ganzheitliches Ausbau-Konzept der Stadt Maintal gegenüber zu stellen. Und die verantwortlichen Entscheidungsträger in der Stadtverwaltung sollen sich nicht herausreden, dass bisher alles nach Recht und Gesetz geschehen ist. Moralische und politische Verantwortung kann nicht durch Gesetzestreue ersetzt werden!
Laßt uns also weitermachen. Die wahren Optimisten sind nicht überzeugt, dass alles gutgehen wird. Aber sie sind überzeugt, dass nicht alles schiefgehen wird.

Besides being in Iraq for one year for no reason, there was another thing that annoyed my fellow soldiers and me. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Caused by EMF? - Doctors in Japan may be reluctant to diagnose Alzheimers
I wrote this a while back and sent it to the Gauss Network here in Japan for their input, but never got any back. Now, about three months later, I realized I never sent this to you.
In an Omega newsletter last July or August, I read an article about brain diseases in connection with chemical pollution. The article stated that the Japanese were not experiencing the increase in Alzheimers Disease that the rest of the world is now subjected to, and noted that when they leave Japan, they begin to be affected. I suspect that what is actually happening is that doctors may be reluctant to diagnose Alzheimers.
There appears to be a significant stigma attached to the condition. I stumbled into this accidentally when analyzing the behavior of a trouble-making older man in our community. When I mentioned that it fit the pattern of Alzheimers, I was trying to show him some compassion, but my remark was perceived as a shocking insult even by the people he had hurt.
Recently on TV we see many health-topic programs focusing on brain aging, where it has been noted that younger people are often showing deterioration of mental faculties similar to that of the elderly. Chronic fatigue syndrome and depression are rampant, and most of the time it is ascribed to purely psychological factors. The popular TV shows may point out missing nutrients or present mental exercises to keep ones thinking young. It is such a hot topic that if I get busy and forget I've left something on the stove, my husband gets worried that I am "getting old before my time." I have few statistics available, but it appears to me that the Japanese are showing an increase in brain deterioration just like everyone else.
In the past, I mentioned in your forum a condition occurring among the Japanese at a rate of 1-2% of the population throughout Japan, affecting all ages, but noted among the young, in which they withdraw from society, shutting themselves off in their rooms. At first the press was calling the condition "jiheisho" meaning autism, but later they switched to calling it "hikikomori" or withdrawing and hiding. What was curious was that it appeared to have a sudden onset coinciding temporally with a major expansion of cell phone service nationwide. The press was mum on this point, and I thought I was one of a very few who had noticed a connection, and I could not get corroborating evidence. It looks to me now that someone else has noticed and done some research into it, as the following article translated from Gauss Network's newsletter shows.

"About 70% of withdrawn children have chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) with reduced blood flow to the brain," says Kumamoto University Medical School Professor Teruhisa Miike regarding his investigation of cerebral blood flow among children failing to attend school, which showed reduced blood flow in 75% of the cases. He says that their failure to attend school is not a "psychological problem," but a serious illness accompanied by disorders in central nervous system function and immune function. "If you force them to go to school, they risk having real psychological problems as a result," he says.
This chronic fatigue syndrome may be caused by electromagnetic waves according to a study by Ryoichi Ogawa, a physician in Kobe, whose view that "Reduced cerebral blood flow may possibly result from the influence of electromagnetic waves from IT equipment" was introduced in the Sunday Mainichi weekly of May 4-11, 2004. An excerpt from this article is given below.
Dr. Ogawa noted that about 80% of his CFS patients were frequent users on a daily basis of cellular phones, personal computers, TV games and other IT devices, and decided to conduct a clinical investigation into a possible cause-effect relationship of cellular phones and desktop-style personal computers to CFS, a "poorly understood condition" in which general clinical tests show no abnormalities.
The subjects were 40 young people, 20 male and 20 female, ranging in age from 12 to 32, who had received treatment for CFS, and an additional 25 male and 25 female healthy family members of the patients, ranging in age from 15 to 35, for a total of 90 people. The investigation was performed using the "Super Doppler Method" to measure the speed of blood flowing during a period of one second in the ophthalmic artery located in the upper part of the eyelid. This artery branches off from the internal carotid artery, which carries blood from the heart to the brain, and this method of testing was established for clinical investigation of blockage of cerebral blood vessels.
The subjects were asked to use a cellular phone, holding it to their left ear for 30 seconds. Prior to use, all of the subjects showed normal blood flow of 10 cm/sec. in the ophthalmic artery of both left and right eye, but after using the cellular phone, this dropped to less than 5 cm/sec. in all of the subjects. When blood flow in this artery is less than 5 cm/sec, it is considered a sign of reduced cerebral blood flow.
The subjects were also asked to use a personal computer, sitting within one meter of the screen for 15 minutes of normal use. When measurements were made directly afterward, it turned out that the blood flow was reduced to less than 5 cm/sec in both eyes among all of the patients who had been treated for CFS. Even among the healthy group, about 78% showed a reduction to less than 5 cm/sec in both eyes.
In addition, the subjects were tested again for speed of blood flow in the ophthalmic artery 30 minutes after finishing their use of these devices. The results showed all of the healthy subjects to have recovered normally to 10 cm/sec, so in their case it was learned that the reduction in cerebral blood flow was temporary. Among the subjects who had received treatment for CFS, however, only 60% had recovered normally. This demonstrates a possibility of some kind of effect on cerebral blood flow by IT equipment, and that these patients will need to take care regarding electromagnetic fields in their daily lives after treatment.

Isami Kojima, President of Japan Nuclear Fuel said that it is a great step for the reprocessing at the press conference at the main office in Rokkasho Village, Aomori Prefecture. You will see the photo of him at

Local groups together with citizens groups including Greenpeace Japan or CNIC in Tokyo protested in a severe cold with snow. Main media reports the starting of the testing and points some problems of reprocessing, but does not give any information about the protest. Most of them also ignore the international protest from 153 organizations/individuals from 30 countries/region.
Plutonium Action Hiroshima immediately released a statement against the testing.

Uranium trials officially commenced this morning (Tuesday 21st) at Japan's first commercial reprocessing plant in Rokkasho, Aomori Prefecture.
The unloading of thirty-one tons of depleted uranium at Mutsu-Ogawara Port on the morning of Monday 20th was greeted by protests from people concerned about the risks of proliferation and radioactive pollution posed by the operation of the plant. The concerns held by 80% of the citizens of Aomori remain unresolved and there is still no prospect of using the 40 tons of plutonium that Japan already owns, let alone the plutonium that will be extracted at Rokkasho. Inevitably it will just be added to the existing stockpile. By moving this one step closer to commencing commercial operations at Rokkasho, Japan is going against the commitment it made to the international community to not hold excess stockpiles of plutonium*.
Although the trials have officially started, all that really means at this stage is that the depleted uranium has been moved from the storage area to the area where it will be dissolved in nitric acid.
Active trials using live spent fuel are planned to begin in December 2005 and the plant is scheduled to commence operations in July 2006, but if past experience is any indication, problems will arise during the trials and schedules will be delayed.

Why Harper's Magazine editor thinks the election was stolen
Editor Lewis H. Lapham, Blue through and through, notes in his regular "Notebook" section in the January 2005 issue of Harper's Magazine that,
"...the tale of the Democratic Defeat was packaged in both an authorized and an unauthorized version. The mainstream print and broadcast media reported an election decided on "the moral issues"; the Internet blogosphere brought word of an election stolen by God-fearing thieves".
After discussing the pros and cons of each of these theories for two and a bit pages, Lapham ends with this thought,

So much for a free and fair exchange of ideas. At conferences and hearings across the country, traditional voting rights organizations have successfully blocked any serious debate on machine-free, paper-only elections. It appears that our well-entrenched so-called 'voting rights' organizations, including the NAACP and ACLU, haven't absorbed the lesson from America's election debacles. They would rather invite the industry-funded National Association of State Election Directors (NASED) to speak at their conferences, than invite researchers and activists who will argue that the machines must go.

Scary, of course, because the latest Gallup Poll which closed Sunday reports that 19% of Americans believe “incidents of fraud” decided, or helped to decide, last month’s election. The most intriguing part of that number is that more than a month ago, 18% of Americans believed there was something illegitimate about the vote.

frostige Tage zum Jahresende 2004 zeigen das in manchen Köpfen ganzjährig vorhandene Klima im Land.
Reformen, Umbruch und eine vom realen Leben abgelöste Wertevorstellung ist oft Entscheidungsgrundlage, bringt Verunsicherung und Vertrauensverluste zu vielen direkt nach Hause.
Doch die Welt ist größer und ein Vergleich zeigt, wie die Welt strukturiert ist:
Hätte die Welt die Größe eines Dorfes mit 100 Einwohnern, so wären 57 Asiaten, 21 Europäer, 14 Amerikaner und 8 Afrikaner in der Dorfgemeinschaft. 30 Weiße und 70 nicht Weiße würden sich auf 52 Frauen und 48 Männer verteilen. Auch wären davon 30 Christen und 70 Nichtchristen.
6 Personen hätten 59% des Reichtums und kämen aus den USA, 80 lebten in baufälligen Hütten, 70 könnten nicht lesen und schreiben, 50 wären unterernährt, einer würde gerade sterben, ein anderer würde geboren und es gäbe einen Computer und einen Akademiker.
Nun, wer von uns hat keinen Computer, keine Ausbildung und kein tägliches Essen?
Doch da stehen Volksvertreter unter Konzerneinfluss, bekommen nicht genug, nicht Einzelne, sondern gruppenweise, und wir Bürger zahlen immer noch mehr Abwassergebühren, Energie- und Lebenshaltungskosten. Unsere Lebensräume werden an Konzerne verzockt, verseucht und vernichtet, auch mit einer grünen Mannschaft in Regierungsbeteiligung.
Da sehen wir nun die unheilbergenden Verbindungen, können verstehen, wie ein gesundheitsfeindlicher Mobilfunk sich etablieren konnte, sich Abfallverwertungssysteme am "Markt" behaupten, wie Energiekonzerne sich bereichern und verschont bleiben, wie noch immer Natur vernichtet wird, und Klimaschutz mehr eine Alibiveranstaltung als ernsthaftes Thema ist.
Deutsches Grundgesetz Artikel 1+2:
Die Würde des Menschen ist unantastbar.
Jeder hat das Recht auf die freie Entfaltung seiner Persönlichkeit.
Jeder hat das Recht auf Leben und körperliche Unversehrtheit.
Sollen wir nun hoffen oder befürchten, das der Wandel schnell kommt?
Neuste Forschungen zeigen, dass sich erdgeschichtlich die großen Klimaveränderungen oft innerhalb weniger Jahre ereignet haben, und wir setzen weiter auf fossile Energien, statt Biogas und Alternativen zu fördern, schlagen noch immer unbewusst so manchen Baum unnötig um:
Eine 100 Jahre alte Buche mit etwa 20 m Höhe hat rund 600.000 Blätter mit 1.200 m2 Fläche. Damit verarbeitet dieser Baum an einen Sonnentag 9400 Liter oder 18 kg Kohlendioxid aus einer Luftmenge von rund 36.000 Kubikmetern, die sauber gefiltert und somit befreit von Staub, Sporen, Bakterien uns als Lebensgrundlage bereit stehen. Dabei benötigt der Baum 400 Liter Wasser und erzeugt 13 kg Sauerstoff, genug für etwa 10 Menschen. Für seine Ernährung erzeugt der Baum dabei 12 kg Zucker zur Bildung seiner organischen Stoffe.
Nun, umgesägt ist eine solche Buche schnell, und täglich werden hunderte ähnlicher Bäume geschlagen, für Garagen, Straßenbau oder einfach, weil das Laub Arbeit bereitet. Um mittels Nachpflanzung den Verlust eines 20 m Baumes auszugleichen würden wir 2.000 junge Bäume á 1 m3 Kronenvolumen pflanzen müssen und hätten Kosten von 120.000 Euro zu tragen.
Doch unser Konsum muss wachsen, mehr Bäume müssen verarbeitet werden, mehr Strassen gebaut, mehr Transportkilometer gefahren werden, mehr Energie verbrannt werden und das Gesundheitssystem ist zum profitorientierten Wirtschaftszweig mutiert.
2% Wachstum sind zu wenig sagen sie, und wissen nicht die weitere Bedeutung. Sollen meine drei Kinder in zwei Jahrzehnten die doppelte Konsumleistung erbringen - über alles pauschal?
Doppelt so viel Energie, doppelt so viel Nahrung, doppelt so viele Konsumgüter, Dreck, Abfall, Belastungen?
Sehen wir nicht heute schon, dass viele Bereiche überstrapaziert sind, Slums in der EG wachsen, die Fische in den Meeren, die Belastung mit Klimagasen, die Gesundheitsgefährdung durch Mobilfunk und andere moderne Technologien?
Wir müssen unsere Meinung artikulieren und die Volksvertreter verpflichten, den Bürgern zuzuhören und nicht den Konzerngeldern hinterher zu geiern.
Ist es wirklich wichtig, dass jedes Bundesland seinen Schülern eine andere Schreibweise beibringt, eigene Englischbücher drucken lässt, nur damit Länderfürsten ihren Einfluss behalten?
Dafür haben wir 2005 ein ganzes Jahr, um unseren Volksvertretern unsere Standpunkte darzustellen und mit Nachdruck und Blick auf die Wahlen 2006 zu agieren.
Wir Bürger sind die Mehrheit, wir müssen erkennen, dass wir die Themen des Wahlkampfes setzen müssen, denn wer von uns braucht weitere Monate mit Ablenkungsstrategien und Machtkämpfen um Positionen und Saläre, Skandalberichte und Entsetzen?
So wünschen wir Ihnen allen eine frohes Weihnachtsfest, Zufriedenheit und Gesundheit im neuen Jahr und besonders viel Mut und Motivation, aufzustehen und mitzureden!

Dear Time Editors: My son, Spc. Casey Sheehan was killed in Iraq on 04/04/04. This has been an extraordinary couple of weeks of 'slaps in the faces' to us families of fallen heroes. First, the Secretary of Defense -- Donald Rumsfeld -- admits to the world something that we as military families already know: The United States was not prepared for nor had any plan for the assault on Iraq. Our children were sent to fight an ill-conceived and badly prosecuted war. Our troops were sent with the wrong type of training, bad equipment, inferior protection and thin supply lines. ... Besides the upcoming holidays and the fact we miss our children desperately, what else can go wrong this holiday season? Well let's see. Oh yes. George W. Bush awards the Presidential Medal of Freedom to three more architects of the quagmire that is Iraq.
To top everything off ... what does Time Magazine do? Names George W. Bush as its 'Man of the Year...

In a just published book, 'Thinking About Crime', Michael Tonry, a distinguished American law professor and director of Cambridge University's Institute of Criminology, reports that the US has the highest percentage of its population in prison than any country on earth. The US incarceration rate is as much as 12 times higher than that of European countries. Unless you believe that Americans are more criminally inclined than other humans, what can explain the US incarceration rate being so far outside the international mainstream?

Combined with increasing revulsion at the high casualty count, there is the potential for generating a huge backlash against the warmongers.
People naturally want to know who lied us into war: they want to identify the culprits, and bring them to some kind of justice, or at least a public reckoning of some kind. Some would call this scapegoating. Others, a deserved comeuppance. In any case, the War Party is desperate to avoid this at all costs, and they are currently scrambling to deflect blame for the policies they originated and fought for -- by diverting attention to their former frontman and hero, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld...

According to people who have been there, Fallujah is not a very big city. You can walk across it in half an hour. Yet when the history of this miserable war is written, I suspect it may loom large. Like Stalingrad, it will mark the point where the war turned against the invader. Wir wollen die Pläne zur Wiederbelebung der Atomindustrie durchkreuzen und die Gesundheitsvorsorge sowie den Verbraucherschutz vor allem in den Bereichen Radioaktivität, Gentechnik in Lebensmitteln und Mobilfunkstrahlung verbessern.

Most people have no idea how dramatically their "inalienable" rights have been savaged, or to what extent the Congress has sold them out. It's no exaggeration to say that the foundation of personal liberty, guaranteed in the law, is cracking at the base. It'll be a miracle if we can put it back together in time to pass it on to our children.

Wir bereiten gerade eine Klage gegen Vodafone vor, mein Rechtschutz bezahlt. Bei uns ist es so dass wir mit Einzug in unser neues Haus 1999 krank sind. Nachdem wir im April diesen Jahres in unseren Keller zogen sind wir beschwerdefrei. Heißt, mein Blutbild ist wie nach einer Strahlentherapie, aber es geht mir gut. Im November stellte ich einen Bauantrag für ein Strahlenschutzgitter, von der Gemeinde wurde es genehmigt, jetzt warte ich noch auf die Genehmigung durch das Landratsamt.
Demnächst kommt ein großer Bericht über uns in der Münchner Merkur und der TZ, im neuen Jahr habe ich einen Termin mit unserem Landtagsabgeordneten hier zu Hause, gehe mit ihm und meinem Messgerät durch unsere "gesperrten" Schlafzimmer. Dort messe ich um die 2.000 µW/m², da würde ich unseren Hund nicht schlafen lassen, der hat schon Krebs, Prostatakrebs. Unser Pferd ist blind, mein Vater verstarb an einem rasend schnellen Prostatakrebs vor 1 Jahr. Dass wir einen Sender vor der Nase haben wissen wir erst seit Anfang März 2004! Im April gründete ich die Bürgerinitiative Mobilfunk Kirchheim, mittlerweile könnte ich das hauptberuflich machen.

Rally for the Recount Set for Sunday
The Cobb-LaMarche Green Party presidential campaign is asking the New Mexico Supreme Court to urgently address the campaign's demand for a recount of the New Mexico presidential vote.
"We believe the Governor, Secretary of State and State Canvassing Board are violating New Mexico law by delaying the recount and by setting conditions for it which have no legal precedent," said Blair Bobier, Media Director for the Cobb-LaMarche campaign.
"We have complied with all necessary criteria and it is time for the
law to be upheld. If the Governor is unwilling to follow the law, then it is up to the New Mexico Supreme Court to intervene. There is a time-honored American tradition here which needs to be upheld: no electedofficial is above the law," said Bobier.
A petition for a writ of mandamus was filed by attorneys for Green
Party presidential candidate David Cobb and Libertarian Michael Badnarik on Wednesday, December 15.
"It is absolutely irresponsible for the state of New Mexico to treat
this recount so frivolously, when the very core of our democracy, the voting system, is at stake," said Rick Lass, local organizer for the recount effort. "The state Supreme Court is the citizens' last recourse to justice, and citizens are demanding their right to a meaningful recount. The justices must step forward and guarantee the people that their votes will be counted completely and accurately," Lass added.
Citizen activists will be converging on the New Mexico state Capitol
Sunday, December 19, at noon, in support of the recount. The rally will include speeches by Paul Christie of PACE, a New Mexico nonprofit organization, and Rick Lass for the Cobb campaign. The rally is cosponsored by the Green Parties of Taos and Santa Fe, Veterans for Peace Santa Fe Chapter 55, and Verified Voting New Mexico. Over eight hundred citizen activists have volunteered to observe the recount, nearly two hundred of whom have attended training sessions in the last week.

Representative John Conyers Jr., a Democrat from Michigan, has charged that an employee of a company that makes vote-counting software used across the state may have tampered with one county's vote tabulator after the election to make the recount come out right. If people other than election officials have free access to the tabulation software, it can make a recount an empty gesture.

The Harvard Crimson While Harvard students mull over the split ticket outcome of the recent Undergraduate Council presidential elections, Ohio residents are still technically waiting for the results of another election—their Electoral College delegation for last month’s presidential race. Six weeks and one major Eastern European voting scandal later, what happened on November 2 in the Buckeye State remains unclear. Though Bush’s victory is not realistically under scrutiny, Ohio voters deserve a quicker and more thorough examination of the election results than they will receive. Considered to be one of the most crucial swing states, the spotlight disappeared from Ohio quickly after news outlets called the state’s 20 electoral votes for President Bush. But both before and after the election, multiple Ohio newspapers reported on a string of voting irregularities, including serious concerns about how thousands of votes were counted. Many of these worries stem from the balloting machinery in Ohio: while only about 12 percent of the nation votes by punch card, the infamous ballot system that muddled the 2000 presidential election in Florida, about three-quarters of Ohio residents do. And of the 88 counties in the state, only one switched from punch cards to a new system after the last election.

Americans should look to the Ukraine for inspiration

What I mean by victory is the fact that the outcry of Ukrainians over the rigged elections has actually sparked the possibility of change. Once again I take this opportunity to remind everyone (is anyone listening?) that EM radiation effects are CUMULATIVE !! Never lose sight of that word - 'cummulative.'
It sounds very simple and basic I know and not at all profound but when taken in to the over-all picture it is probably the single most important aspect of radiation. And I will continue to harass anyone at any opportunity in discussing EMR to remember that it is CUMULATIVE.
Also, EMR effects ALL living systems. Including birds. (Thankyou Milt - I owe you).
In order to raise awareness in the market we need to decribe 'cell-phones' as what they really are which is 'microwave phones'. We don't refer to trains, trucks and bus's as 'terrain re-locators' then why the hell do we refer to microwave phones by the name 'cel'? That only describes their geograhical coverage pattern?
Basic Cognitive Science.
Once the public (the $$market) is aware that microwave radiation can be dangerous it follows they will show concern about sticking a mini microwave oven in their collective ears.
The message is simple -
1. EMR is cumulative
2. microwave phones emit EMR.
There is not a single scientist on this planet today that can deny those two brief simple statements.

President Bush, an old F-102 pilot, showed at yesterday's news conference that he has not forgotten his evasive maneuvers.
As he fielded questions on everything from Iranian nukes to presidential personnel, the often blunt and plainspoken president employed the full range of artful dodges.
Qualifications for a director of national intelligence? "I'm going to find somebody who knows something about intelligence," Bush disclosed.
Timeline for Iraq? "We'd like to achieve our objective as quickly as possible."
Vladimir Putin's turn toward autocracy? "If we disagree with decisions, we can do so in a friendly and positive way."
When the subject turned to Social Security, the president made clear that questions about his views on the subject were strictly out of bounds -- as when CNN's John King asked why Bush wasn't talking about "tough measures" such as raising the retirement age or cutting benefits.
"Now the temptation is going to be, by well-meaning people such as yourself, John, and others here as we run up to the issue, to get me to negotiate with myself in public," Bush said. Saying he was trying to "condition" reporters, he added: "I'm not going to negotiate with myself and I will negotiate at the appropriate time with the law writers, and so thank you for trying."
When another questioner asked Bush to make his case for personal Social Security accounts, a wary Bush sought to suppress the negotiator within. "Yeah, I will try to explain how without negotiating with myself," he began.
The resourceful Edwin Chen of the Los Angeles Times pointed out that Bush had already negotiated with himself by ruling out benefit cuts for retirees and near-retirees, then asked Bush to define "near-retired."
The president saw through this plea for self-negotiation. "Yeah, well, that's going to fall in the negotiating-with-myself category," he said.
For all the bobbing and weaving, yesterday's news conference hinted at an emerging new style for Bush. In his first 45 months in office, he had 15 full-fledged news conferences, fewer than any other postwar president. Bush, a stickler for discipline, didn't want to make unintended news, or to be embarrassed by an unexpected question, as when he was asked what his biggest mistake had been. But since his reelection, Bush has had two news conferences in as many months.
Bush is finding that, with some careful deflection of questions, he can hold a nearly hour-long news conference without serious gaffes or unintentionally making news. At times, his bluntness got the better of him, as when he acknowledged that "we don't have much leverage with the Iranians right now."
At one point, Bush deflected with psychoanalysis. Asked about Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld's use of a signature machine on letters to the next-of-kin of slain soldiers, Bush testified that "I know Secretary Rumsfeld's heart."
And, when asked "where do you stand on regime change" in North Korea, he used the old debater's trick of rephrasing the question. "I'll tell you where I stand," Bush said. "I stand on continuing the six-party talks with North Korea to convince Kim Jong Il to give up his weapons."
When the inevitable question came about the doomed nomination of Bernard B. Kerik to be homeland security secretary, Bush deftly avoided any mention of Kerik's various personal problems and any hint that the White House's vetting process had failed.
"And so the lessons learned is: Continue to vet, and ask good questions," he said. Only the chuckle and shrug of the shoulders accompanying those words suggested there might be more to the story.

Sehr geehrte Frau Schmidt,
nachdem unzählige Schreiben und diverse Protestbriefaktionen der vergangenen Monate an Herrn Bundeskanzler Schröder und Umweltminister Trittin scheinbar erfolglos waren bzw. lediglich von einem Mitarbeiter beantwortet wurden und gar nicht bis zu ihren Empfängern durchgedrungen sind, wenden wir uns heute mit einem dringenden Hilferuf an Sie. Wir bitten Sie eindringlich, das Thema „derzeitiger Ausbau des Mobilfunknetzes in Deutschland und die gesundheitlichen Auswirkungen auf die Bevölkerung“ ernst zu nehmen und zum Thema im Bundestag zu machen. Schließlich geht es um die Gesundheit von uns Familien! Hier muss aus Berlin nun endlich ein Signal kommen!!
In der Anlage legen wir Ihnen unser Schreiben an Herrn Bundeskanzler Gerhard Schröder mit der dringenden Bitte um inhaltliche Kenntnisnahme bei.
Die unzähligen Menschen, die sich in den letzten Jahren zu vielen tausend Bürgerinitiativen hierzulande zusammengeschlossen haben, sind verzweifelt, weil die Gefahren durch die von Mobilfunkanlagen ausgehende Hochfrequenzstrahlung seitens der Bundesregierung verharmlost bzw. ganz unter den Teppich gekehrt wird.
Viele ärztliche Studien haben inzwischen die gesundheitsschädigende Wirkung von Mobilfunkstrahlung auf den menschlichen Körper belegt. Jedes neue Arzneimittel, das hier in Deutschland auf den Markt kommt, bedarf jahrelanger intensiver Forschung, ehe es zugelassen wird. Mit der neuen UMTS-Technologie jedoch geht derzeit eine Technik ans Netz, deren Auswirkungen auf den Menschen noch nicht erforscht sind. Müssen sich Katastrophen wie seinerzeit die Schädigungen durch Asbest oder der Contergan-Skandal erst wiederholen, ehe die Regierung endlich aufwacht?
Wir bitten Sie, sehr geehrte Frau Schmidt, dringend, alles in Ihrer Macht stehende zu tun, damit dem rücksichtslosen Ausbau der Mobilfunkindustrie endlich Einhalt geboten wird.
Bitte verstehen Sie uns nicht falsch: Wir sind nicht gegen die Nutzung von Handys generell – das wäre in der heutigen Zeit weltfremd und unrealistisch. Wir sind jedoch strikt gegen den „Ausbauwahnsinn“, der ohne Rücksicht auf die Bevölkerung weiter stattfindet, obwohl hier in Bamberg z.B. kein einziges Funkloch mehr existiert und Handytelefonieren aus jedem Keller bereits uneingeschränkt möglich ist. Jeder von uns hat es selbst in der Hand, ob er ein Handy nutzt oder nicht. Der Strahlung, die von Mobilfunkstationen auf den Dächern ausgeht, jedoch ist jeder von uns hier ausgesetzt, ob er will oder nicht. Die Strahlenbelastung durch die mehr als 70 Mobilfunkantennen hier bei uns in Bamberg ist bereits jetzt enorm. Und das Netz soll in den nächsten Monaten noch dichter werden: Weitere 40 Mobilfunkantennen an ca. 15 Standorten sind geplant. Wo bleibt hier noch die Lebensqualität für Familien mit Kindern?
Den sorglosen Umgang vieler Eltern, die bereits ihren 6-7-jährigen Kindern zu Weihnachten ein Handy schenken oder zu Schuljahresbeginn in die Schultüte gepackt haben, sehen wir mit wachsender Sorge. Kinder brauchen unserer Auffassung nach noch kein Handy – sie sollten ihre Zeit sinnvoller mit ihren Freunden beim Spielen und Toben verbringen, als stumpfsinnig schweigend nebeneinander zu hocken und sich SMS zu schreiben. Hier müssen jedoch die Eltern mit gutem Beispiel vorangehen und über die Gefahren des häufigen und zu frühen Handygebrauchs aufgeklärt werden. Dies können wir Bürgerinitiativen hier in Deutschland alleine nicht leisten – hier muss ein deutliches Signal seitens der Regierung kommen. Aufklärung tut not!!
Mein Mann Gerhard und ich haben uns bewusst für ein Leben mit Kindern entschieden und sind stolze Eltern von 6 Kindern, 2 davon haben wir adoptiert. Vor einigen Jahren haben wir uns hier in Bamberg ein Haus gekauft und es liebevoll saniert. Nun soll 30 m neben unserem Haus auf die Konzerthalle eine Mobilfunkanlage gebaut werden. Wie es uns dabei geht, interessiert nicht. Unser Haus, in dem jeder Cent unserer Ersparnisse steckt, brauchen wir nicht mehr verkaufen – mit einer Mobilfunkantenne in der Nachbarschaft kauft uns das keiner mehr ab. Das jüngste unserer 6 Kinder, unser 2-jähriger Adoptivsohn, leidet an einem schweren angeborenen Herzfehler – die lebensrettende Operation steht unmittelbar bevor. Wie sollen wir diesem kranken Kind eine lebenswerte Zukunft bieten, wenn seine ohnehin schon angeschlagene Gesundheit durch die starke Strahlung der Mobilfunkanlage in der Nachbarschaft weiter beeinträchtigt wird? Mein Mann (von Beruf Elektrotechniker ) und ich (von Beruf Arzthelferin) sind bodenständig mit gesundem Menschenverstand und weit davon entfernt, überängstlich oder gar panisch zu reagieren . Dennoch haben wir Angst um die Gesundheit unserer Kinder. Und so wie uns geht es allen Menschen hier.
Wir bitten Sie: Machen Sie sich in Berlin für einen sofortigen Ausbaustopp stark! Fordern Sie eine Novellierung und Herabsenkung der Grenzwerte, festgelegt in der 26. BimSchV! Starten Sie Aufklärungskampagnen für Eltern und Kinder! Informieren Sie sich über die Auswirkungen der Mobilfunkstrahlung. Interessant sind hier folgende Links:

Sehr geehrter Herr Bundeskanzler Schröder,
eigentlich es ist beschämend, dass wir uns heute zum wiederholten Male mit unseren Sorgen direkt an Sie wenden müssen, und nach wie vor das Gefühl haben, dass Sie diese nicht ernst nehmen. Es geht um den derzeitigen massiven Ausbau des Mobilfunknetzes in Deutschland und seine gravierenden gesundheitsschädigenden Folgen für die Bevölkerung. Die Probleme werden seit Jahren von Ihrer Regierung verharmlost bzw. totgeschwiegen. Ich schreibe diesen Brief nicht nur im Namen der vielen Betroffenen hier in Bamberg – wir sind eine mittelgroße fränkische Stadt mit rund 70.000 Einwohnern, in der bereits über 70 Mobilfunkantennen strahlen – sondern im Namen der vielen tausend Bürgerinitiativen (es dürften inzwischen 10.000 sein), die sich in den letzten Jahren hier in Deutschland gegründet haben – und es werden jeden Tag mehr!
Mit dem Verkauf der UMTS-Lizenzen vor einigen Jahren hat Ihre Regierung in erster Linie eine Chance darin gesehen, die maroden Staatsfinanzen aufzubessern – in Zeiten leerer Kassen sind 50 Mrd. Euro schließlich eine Menge Geld. Bezüglich der von den Mobilfunkanlagen ausgehenden Hochfrequenzstrahlung wurden in der 26.BimSchV (von der WHO abgesegnet) Grenzwerte festgelegt, die den menschlichen Körper vor eventuellen Schädigungen durch gerade diese Strahlen schützen sollen. Genau das tun die derzeit gültigen Grenzwerte aber nicht!! Bei deren Festlegung wurde lediglich die thermische Wirkung auf den menschlichen Körper berücksichtigt, nicht aber die athermische.
Ein Physiker brachte das Ganze Dilemma im Rahmen seines Vortrags auf den Punkt. Zitat: „Die Grenzwerte sind um den Faktor 1.000.000 zu hoch. Die derzeit gültigen Grenzwerte sind ein Wahnsinn – vergleichbar damit, wenn man auf bundesdeutschen Autobahnen als Tempolimit Lichtgeschwindigkeit festsetzen würde! Kein Autofahrer würde sie jemals erreichen – und dennoch wären die Folgen bei Geschwindigkeiten weit darunter bereits entsetzlich.“ Ähnlich verhält es sich derzeit mit den Grenzwerten für Mobilfunkanlagen. Selbst bei voller Antennenauslastung werden die Grenzwerte nie erreicht. Und dennoch sind die Schädigungen bei Werten weit darunter bereits furchtbar. Die Menschen, die im Umfeld dieser Basisstationen leben, sind der Strahlung 24 Stunden, Tag für Tag, Jahr für Jahr ausgesetzt.
Ein Großteil von ihnen hat gesundheitliche Beeinträchtigungen, wie: Kopfschmerzen, massive Schlafstörungen, Herzrasen, Antriebslosigkeit, Depressionen, Appetitlosigkeit, vermehrte Infektanfälligkeit, Konzentrationsstörungen, Blutbildveränderungen bis hin zu bösartigen Erkrankungen wie Leukämie u.ä.. Die massiven Schädigungen sind von Ärzten dokumentiert und nicht mehr zu leugnen. So sarkastisch es klingen mag: Die Grenzwerte schützen nicht die Gesundheit, sondern vielmehr die Mobilfunkindustrie vor den Menschen! Denn kranke Menschen haben nicht mehr die Kraft, sich zu wehren. Die Äußerung von Herrn Timm Schröder vom Mobilfunkkonzern Vodafone, getroffen im Mai d.J. am „Runden Tisch Mobilfunk“ hier in Bamberg bringt die menschenverachtende Einstellung der Mobilfunkindustrie auf den Punkt: „Die Gesundheit der Bevölkerung ist für uns nebensächlich! Wichtig ist uns ein gut funktionierendes Netz!“
Und der Mobilfunkausbau – vor allem des UMTS-Netzes – geht uneingeschränkt weiter. Mit einer Technik, deren Akzeptanz nicht vorhanden ist, deren Nutzung weit unter 1 % liegt – und das Schlimmste: deren Auswirkungen auf den menschlichen Körper noch nicht erforscht sind. Es findet derzeit in Deutschland ein großangelegter Freilandversuch am Menschen statt – und Sie, sehr geehrter Herr Bundeskanzler Schröder, tun nichts, um diesem Wahnsinn endlich Einhalt zu gebieten!!!
Was muss noch geschehen, wie viele Menschen müssen noch krank werden, bis die Regierung endlich aufwacht? Meinen Sie, uns Bürgerinitiativen macht es Spaß, unsere ganze Kraft, Energie und Zeit in Briefe wie diesen zu stecken? Oder in die weit über 100 Petitionen zum Thema Mobilfunk, die derzeit im Bundestag darauf warten, abgewiesen zu werden?
Sie, sehr geehrter Herr Bundeskanzler, sind doch auch Familienvater, haben Kinder, für die Sie sich wünschen, dass sie gesund heranwachsen! Möchten Sie einen Mobilfunkmast 30 m neben Ihrem Haus stehen haben, dessen Strahlung Sie und Ihre Familie Tag und Nacht ausgesetzt sein ? Wir Menschen hier in Deutschland haben mit diesen Problemen zu kämpfen!! Da werden mitten in Wohngebieten auf den Dächern Mobilfunkstationen installiert – und in einem Kinderzimmer, 20 m neben einer dieser Anlagen, schläft ein kleines Kind...... ! Wohlgemerkt: Der Schutzabstand um die Anlage, in dem sich dauerhaft kein Mensch aufhalten darf (Monteure und Techniker nur in Strahlenschutzanzügen!) beträgt hier 8 m! Haben Sie auch nur im entferntesten eine Ahnung, wie diesen Eltern zumute ist, deren Kind nur wenige Meter außerhalb dieses Schutzbereiches schlafen muss? Dieses Kind hat ein 3-fach erhöhtes Risiko, an Krebs zu erkranken – und die Eltern können es nicht schützen! Weil Ihre Regierung alle bisherigen Warnungen ignoriert hat. Das Haus verkaufen und wegziehen ist auch keine Lösung: Zum einen verlieren Immobilien, in deren Umgebung Mobilfunkantennen stehen, rapide an Wert (lt. RDM bis zu 25 % Wertverlust) – für eine Familie mit noch laufenden Kreditzahlungen kann das den finanziellen Ruin bedeuten. Zum anderen käme ein Umzug einer permanenten Flucht gleich, da in Deutschland derzeit ein flächendeckendes Mobilfunknetz aufgebaut werden soll.
Hochrangige, anerkannte Wissenschaftler haben vor den Auswirkungen der Mobilfunkstrahlung gewarnt. Studien brachten erschreckende Ergebnisse zutage (z.B. Reflex-Studie! Einige Arbeitsgruppen dieser großengelegten Studie sind mit ihren Ergebnissen bereits an die Öffentlichkeit gegangen. Die Berliner Arbeitsgruppe dagegen hat ihre Ergebnisse aufgrund des massiven Drucks seitens der Mobilfunkindustrie noch immer nicht veröffentlicht.......! War Ihnen das bekannt? Uns bleibt hier nur zu sagen: Wirklich traurig!! So weit ist es nun also schon gekommen!)
Sie haben Ihrem Volk gegenüber eine Verantwortung! Haben Sie bei Ihrer Vereidigung nicht auf die Verfassung geschworen, Schaden vom Deutschen Volk abzuwenden? Wir können es nicht glauben, dass Sie weiterhin die Gesundheit Ihrer Bürger wirtschaftlichen Interessen opfern. Was waren wir froh, beim damaligen Regierungswechsel mit Ihnen nun endlich einen Menschen an der Spitze der Regierung zu wissen! Sollten wir uns so getäuscht haben?
In den Antwortschreiben, die wir in den letzten Monaten von Ihnen und Vertretern Ihrer Ministerien erhielten, waren stets die gleichen Sätze zu lesen: „Wir nehmen die Ängste der Bevölkerung sehr ernst, aber.............“ , oder: „Wir haben Ihr Anliegen an das Umweltministerium weitergeleitet!“ oder: „Laut 26. BImSchV werden bei allen Mobilfunkanlagen die Grenzwerte eingehalten!“ Wir können es nicht mehr hören!
Wir richten den dringenden Appell an Sie:
- Setzen Sie sich für einen sofortigen Ausbaustopp des Mobilfunknetzes, vor allem aber der UMTS-Technologie ein – hier geht eine Technik ans Netz, deren Auswirkungen nicht erforscht sind.
- Beauftragen Sie das Umweltministerium, zum Schutz der Bevölkerung eine Neufestlegung der Grenzwerte in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Bundesamt für Strahlenschutz in die Wege zu leiten – diese müssten 1.000.000-fach niedriger sein als die derzeit gültigen (das Handytelefonieren ist auch bei diesen niedrigenWerten uneingeschränkt möglich).
- Treiben Sie die Forschungen voran, die sich mit der Auswirkung hochfrequenter Strahlung auf den menschlichen Organismus beschäftigen und die nicht von der Mobilfunkindustrie sondern von seriöser, neutraler Seite finanziert werden.
Sehr geehrter Herr Bundeskanzler Schröder, wir appellieren dringend an Sie, vor diesen gravierenden Problemen, mit denen jede Stadt, jede Gemeinde derzeit in Deutschland zu kämpfen hat (die vielen tausend gegründeten Bürgerinitiativen hierzulande sprechen eine deutliche Sprache), nicht länger die Augen zu verschließen. Bitte geben Sie unser Schreiben nicht wieder an irgendeines Ihrer Ministerien zur „Bearbeitung“ weiter, sondern setzen Sie sich persönlich dafür ein, dass in unserem Land zum Schutz der Bevölkerung endlich etwas geschieht – nehmen Sie sich ein Beispiel an unserem Nachbarland Schweiz: Dort steht ein Ausbaustopp unmittelbar bevor (siehe Anhang).

Sehr geehrter Herr Bundeskanzler Schröder,
eigentlich es ist beschämend, dass wir uns heute zum wiederholten Male mit unseren Sorgen direkt an Sie wenden müssen, und nach wie vor das Gefühl haben, dass Sie diese nicht ernst nehmen. Es geht um den derzeitigen massiven Ausbau des Mobilfunknetzes in Deutschland und seine gravierenden gesundheitsschädigenden Folgen für die Bevölkerung. Die Probleme werden seit Jahren von Ihrer Regierung verharmlost bzw. totgeschwiegen. Ich schreibe diesen Brief nicht nur im Namen der vielen Betroffenen hier in Bamberg – wir sind eine mittelgroße fränkische Stadt mit rund 70.000 Einwohnern, in der bereits über 70 Mobilfunkantennen strahlen – sondern im Namen der vielen tausend Bürgerinitiativen (es dürften inzwischen 10.000 sein), die sich in den letzten Jahren hier in Deutschland gegründet haben – und es werden jeden Tag mehr!
