According to the Columbus Dispatch, Ohio's Republican Secretary of State J. Kenneth Blackwell yesterday warned county boards of elections’ officials to obey his directive regarding provisional voting. Blackwell's directive may result in nearly 100,000 voters, many of them first time voters, being denied the right to vote. The government should be required to assist voters with reasonable means to register and vote. Instead, Blackwell, an ardent Bush supporter, is trying to block voting. VCS believes our Nation's election officials should be non-partisan, and they should not use their positions to help or harm any candidate or party.
