The picture we receive is uniform: we are reasonable, they are recalcitrant; we are the Civilized Nation, they are the (ignoble) savages. We love freedom; they hate freedom. When they bomb us, it is proof of their barbarity; when we bomb them, it is also proof of their barbarity, because our government wouldn’t do such a thing unless to protect civilization from the barbarians.
