My telephone at home rang shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday, and on the other end of the line was a friend from Huntsville, AL. 'Dwight, are you going to watch the Republican convention tonight?' Pamela Curry asked. 'No, Pam,' I replied. 'I watched some of that last night (Wednesday), and all I saw was a bunch of seemingly angry white men. I may watch some of the president's speech, but I don't want to see that stuff like Zell Miller and Dick Cheney were putting out.' 'Please, Dwight,' [she] said.
