A cross-sectional study was carried out to assess the growth of 780 children of both sexes, aged between 0-12 years, and living at two different areas in Ismailia, Egypt, with approximately similar socioeconomic standards. Based on a designed questionaire, the exposed group was formed of 390 children from the Abu Sultan area. They were chosen from families living within 50 meters nearby high voltage electric power lines. Another 390 children from the El-Sheikh Zayed area were chosen as the control group. Standard anthropometric measurements were carried out for each child. Plain X-ray was done on the hands of 200 randomly selected children from both groups (100 each) to assess their bone maturation. In the exposed group the weight was significantly decreased only at birth, while the circumferences of the head and chest as well as the height were significantly reduced at all studied ages. The radiological study revealed a significant delay in carpal bone ossification of the exposed children. In conclusion: Exposure to low frequency electromagnetic fields emerged from high voltage electric power lines increases the incidence of growth retardation of children. Isolating these power lines in a scientific way in order to shield both the magnetic and electric fields or removing them far away from the inhabitant areas is recommended.

Eileen: Excellent!!! I typed a quick response suggesting "a focus" on the 100 men each year.......(who develop breast cancer in the UK -- or anywhere else for that matter). Since I also mentioned "Big Money fraud," it is possible my post won't make the review.

Women have been victims of the "female problem trash can" long enough, in my opinion. As you know, I am not saying "female hormonal changes" might not be part of the reason for developing cancer -- certainly, either female or male hormones definitely do play a big part in many health problems, BUT, to cite breast feeding or not, numbers of births, birth control pills and other strictly female-related subjects as being potentially causal, is a huge disservice and, in my opinion, a "delaying tactic" as well as a waste of funds.

If obesity, lack of exercise, or drinking alcohol were "primary causes" of breast cancer, I believe numbers for both men and women would be much higher and would be occurring at even more alarming rates considering current day lifestyles.

As many persons know, the toxic protein, Amyloid-B (Beta-amyloid) is identified, at autopsy in the brains of Alzheimers' patients. There are cases of Leukaemia linked to the formation of amyloid. EMF (electromagnetic field) studies have been done linking EMF's to sewing machine use. EMF studies "are conclusive" re causation of especially childhood Leukaemia.

After chronic, prolonged EMF/EMR exposure to one of my guinea pigs (initial exposure due to electric meter on outside of bedroom wall) -- two years' exposure to EMF's ranging between 3.5 milligauss and 4.5 milligauss, Kelley died with a diagnoisis of "Reactive Renal Amyloidosis."

The Long Island Study in New York re breast cancer and EMF's did not confirm a link as to "causation of breast cancer." I think the search for answers may not have focused on "nighttime exposures to electric appliances" (have not reviewed that research yet) which would therefor not provide a clear picture re potential cause of breast cancer due to low level EMF/EMR exposures.

For all of the reports, interviews, etc. to be "sprinkled everywhere" that breast feeding or not, more babies or not, early onset of menses or not, blah blah blah, to me, is "ludicrous" particularly since EMF/EMR exposures (very much on the rise since the 1950's) is seldom, if ever, mentioned.

I think women and men need to demand to know whether or not biopsies reveal amyloid formations and if so, start "at the top" of the list of toxic exposures known to cause protein misfolding that results in accumulations of amyloid. Chronic, prolonged exposures to low level EMF/EMR is the explanation. Other lifestyle variations "add to the mix...."

As is often said, "you can't find what you aren't looking for.....!!!" The studies aren't there because the scientists won't get funding to do more studies if they come up with the answers in a straight-forward, truthful manner.

In order to analyze the effect of various kinds of radiation on the terminal differentiation processes of fibroblasts in culture, both human skin and lung fibroblasts were irradiated with electromagnetic non ionizing as well as ionizing radiation in clonal and sparse mass culture systems. As analyzed by cell biological (cell type frequencies), biochemical (collagen synthesis) and molecular markers (expression of protein PIVa) human skin and lung fibroblasts are induced to differentiate prematurely into terminal postmitotic cells. Thus, both electromagnetic and ionizing radiation induce terminal differentiation in cultured cells. These data add some new aspects for the interpretation of radiation effects on cells, e.g., in clinical therapy, as well as for the development of normal tissue responses during early and late effects after radiotherapy.

HEALTH V UNSUITABLY SITED MASTS

ICNIRP (International Committee on Non Ionizing Radiation Protection) took a decision about 10 years ago on guidelines.

Western world governments legally allowed the installation of many mobile telephone base station masts based on the guidelines.

Mean while science has moved on.

Many scientists throughout the world have taken an interest in this subject and discovered much data, despite lack of funding.

As a result of this data which is becoming more abundant on the net

We can deduce that:-

ICNIRP thought that what they did not know was unimportant, in fact they were high prestige experts on many subjects except the one they were considering.

They grossly misled the governments who in reality opened up a silent microwave civil war on some of their inhabitants.

People whose houses are in a field gradient strength of 1.5 to 3 volts/metre will get their immune system reduced by nearly 90% after 6 months and many will have nightmare lives with headaches, rashes, forgetfulness and perhaps electromagnetic hypersensitivity (EHS) and after 5 years the cancer rate increases by about 2 per mast per year of exposure. If you add up the total registered as EHS in Sweden and California it is nearly 1 million. English hospitals are fairly devoid of treatments for this!

Who wants a silent killer near their house and become a victim of "Progress?"

It is only the randomness of Post code areas relative to masts that makes epidemiologists think that mast induced cancer is random, high resolution results show this to be untrue. Epidemiologists have had a knee-jerk reaction to the Data Protection Act and hence only issue very low resolution results which smear out what is happening and hide the true results.

We have heard many data-less ungrounded generalisations from the authorities to support the combined vested interests of mobile telephone industry and Government.

The Mobile telephone Industry is still grooming political parties that fiction is reality and reality is fiction(scare stories)! This is the only defence they have, they have no technical defence

Taiwan has removed 9000 masts last year and is removing another 9000 masts again this year out of the 27,000 complained about.

Sweden is sanitising houses and providing houses well away from masts if this is neccessary.

When is our Government going to start?
