260 Menschen im Saal – wegen Überfüllung geschlossen — Gebannt hörten die Besucher den eineinhalbstündigen Vortrag von Dr.U.Warnke: „Bienen,Vögel, Menschen. Die Zerstörung der Natur durch Elektrosmog.“ Dr.Warnke stellte anhand der elektrischen Felder und des Erdmagnetismus, ihrer Bedeutung für alle biologischen Vorgänge, von der Orientierung der Bienen bis hin zur menschlichen Zelle, das Grundproblem dar: Die wachsende Strahlenbelastung der Erde durch Mobilfunk und andere Strahlenquellen bringt die Natur aus dem Gleichgewicht. Das war für jedermann nachvollziehbar. Dr.Warnkes Kompetenz ist beeindruckend. Und so verlies vor Ende der Diskussion (nach 3 Stunden) fast kein Besucher den Saal. Unsere Bürgerinitiative stellt fest: Das Interesse an der Mobilfunkproblematik wird immer größer, viele Vertreter anderer Stuttgarter Umweltinitiativen waren da, aber es braucht noch mehr aktive Menschen, um den Druck auf die Politik zu erhöhen. Die Veranstaltung machte auch klar: Die Broschüre von U. Warnke: „Bienen, Vögel, Menschen. Die Zerstörung der Natur durch Elektrosmog.“ ist ein Schlüssel, um die Gesamtproblematik zu verstehen.

Mammary cancer is the leading cancer form among women in western countries. The International Agency for Research on Cancer in Lyon has recently classified ELFMF as possibly carcinogenic to humans, and also pointed out the large gaps in our knowledge of potential cancer hazards from exposure to ELFMF. Sweden has a long history of population records and censuses, and a national cancer registry since 1958. The Swedish Cancer Environment Registry, CER, is based on a linkage of cancer cases with occupational titles obtained from the censuses, permitting the calculation of cancer rates per occupation. There are no data on occupational exposures in this register. For the present study, data on exposure to extremely low frequency magnetic fields, ELFMF, obtained from a large survey of exposure levels in the 100 most common occupations in Sweden were used. The exposure data were incorporated by the use of job exposure matrix technique. The large study size made it possible to investigate the risk of mammary cancer per occupation among both women and men, and to investigate the influence of exposure to ELFMF. In addition, important descriptive data on the geographical distribution of mammary cancer among women and men in Sweden were obtained. Advanced biostatistical techniques were used for risk calculations, as well as for the exploration and visualization of exposure-response relations. The study gives a contribution to the understanding of the potential role of ELFMF in the causation of mammary cancer in humans, although many questions remain unresolved in this important area of research.

A LEADING radiation expert has accused government scientists of “deliberately deceiving” the public about the safety of wireless internet networks.

Biologist Roger Coghill claims that a new Health Protection Agency (HPA) research programme into wireless local area networks will not address the real areas of concern.

The safety of wi-fi has been repeatedly questioned by a growing number of parents and experts after it has been linked to cancer and a condition called electro-sensitivity.

Independent scientists have also said that wi-fi should not be used in schools because of the risk of constant exposure to such radiation.

Safety concerns spark research into networks

England’s chief medical officer Sir Liam Donaldson and the Health Protection Agency have issued precautionary advice discouraging the non-essential use of mobile phones by children.
