Forderung nach Handyverbot für Kinder

Online gestellt: 27.07.2009 13:28 Uhr

Electromagnetic field (EMF) effects on channel activity of nanopore OmpF protein

Eur Biophys J. 2009 Jul 15.
[Epub ahead of print]

In this study, the effects of nonionizing electromagnetic fields (EMF; 925 MHz) on the OmpF porin channel have been characterized at the single-channel level. Channel activity was recorded in real time by the voltage clamp method. Our results showed an increase in the frequency of channel gating and voltage sensitivity. The effects of EMF lasted for several milliseconds after the field source was terminated. However, the conductance levels of channels did not change significantly. Thermal effects of EMF on single-channel properties are a possible cause, based on theoretical evaluation of results that were comparable to those seen in conventional experiments at different temperatures. We conclude that EMF affects both the dynamics and conformation of the channel, either directly by affecting critical amino acid side-chain arrangement, or indirectly, via the electrolyte or the lipid membrane.

--------

First, prof' Richter's study on soldiers exposed to microwave radiation in the army showed shortened latency period for brain tumors - <10 years only in young workers. Int J Occup and Env Health 6 page 187-193, 2000. He predicted this would happened with cell phone users. Second, we must not forget that most works on cell phones are simply biased in their methods, most of them were industry funded and it was felt in the way they were done. When studies are biased anything can be underestimation, both long and short term risk. That Rothman relied and agreed with their assumption which is already biased, is what can drive nuts anyone who looks for an objective view from leading people in the field.

Mobile phones and health: what do we know?

Yanar Alkayat

21st July, 2009

In a matter of months, an Irish mobile network will launch 'Firefly' - the mobile phone for kids. With even official Government advice against such a move, Yanar Alkayat takes a timely look at what we know for certain about mobile phones and health.

'I am seeing more patients than I would expect in their twenties and thirties with diagnosis of brain cancer,' says Australian neurosurgeon Dr. Vini Khurana, who is concerned that a relatively rare but life-threatening disease is on the rise.
