There has been a huge amount of interest from the public and the media as many people want to hear Dr George Carlo’s address to MPs at the meeting in Westminster on 22nd February, 2007.
In order to accommodate everyone, the meeting will now be held in the Attlee Suite in Portcullis House the meeting is scheduled to run from 3-4pm.
Please come to Portcullis House Reception, Westminster, SW1A 2LW. Portcullis House is the building across the road from the House of Commons (less queues and where the Attlee Suite is)! Nearest tube Westminster Station - come out of station turn left, then immediately left again and Portcullis House is on your left.
Assemble in the reception at least 15 minutes before and Joseph Moor will escort everyone to the Attlee Suite, you will still need to go through security (allow extra time for this), no ID needed, EVERYONE is welcome to attend!
It is important to write, phone or visit your MP to stress the importance of this meeting and request they attend as they are your local representative. Also ask your local councillors, planning officers, doctors and any member of authority to attend.

Following the recent emergency announcement - Joseph Moor Research Assistant to Andrew Mitchell MP Shadow Secretary of State for International Development has sent message saying people can get to the Attlee Room on their own – reception at portcullis house will direct everyone where to go, the room will be open from 2.30 and the meeting is scheduled to run from 3 – 4pm
The meeting room is large and as a result I do not need to supply a list of names, it is free for anyone to attend.
A film company has agreed to film the event and a DVD will be made available for purchase, this is good news for all ES people who cannot attend.
This event is beginning to attract attention from around the world.
The Attlee Suite is the largest of the multi purpose rooms in Westminster and is located on the first floor of Portcullis House. Members of the public should enter via Embankment for meetings in Portcullis House. Once through security the staff at reception will direct visitors up the stairs behind the desk, these lead to the first floor and hence the Attlee Suite.
A sign will be posted on the door of Committee Room 9 on the 22nd directing people to the Attlee Suite should they end up there by mistake.
I would like to thank fellow trustees from the EM Radiation Research Trust - Andrew Mitchell MP and Dr Ian Gibson MP and staff for all their hard work helping to organise this event. Andrew Mitchell MP, Dr Ian Gibson MP and Dr Caroline Lucas MEP have all agreed to help promote this important meeting to all their colleagues. Phil Willis MP has also sent confirmation and I have encouraged him to promote this to members from the Lib Dem Party. Let’s hope MPs respond and represent members of their constituency as this is a growing concern for many people and deserves their full attention!

There is an opportunity to hear American scientist Dr Carlo, one of the many leading scientists speaking on the dangers of microwave radiation emitted by phone masts/mobile phones, wireless communication etc. He will also be promoting the safe way forward for this technology which is a positive message.

Community near to Ellwangen, the residents are, just as in other places, fighting against a planned mobile telecommunications transmitter. Interview with Radiologist Professor Dr. Eckel from Germany the following sentence is shocking!!

Yes. And the injuries that result from radioactive radiation are identical with the effects of electromagnetic radiation. The damages are so similar that they are hard to differentiate."
This demonstrates the seriousness of electromagnetic radiation and we should be demanding that our MPs represent us at the Westminster meeting in the House of Commons, Committee Room 9, 3-4pm on 22nd February with Dr George Carlo.

In the talks, I will cover the range of new findings that we have elucidated through our work in the Safe Wireless Initiative. Specifically, I plan to cover:
* the now known disease mechanisms in the three primary EMR effect windows;
* new data we now have on autism and neuro-developmental conditions in young people showing association with EMR exposures;
* the problems with the proliferation of masts and the alarming increase in background concentrations of dangerous information carrying radio waves;
* the clinical need for focused primary, secondary and tertiary intervention strategies to deal with electro-sensitivity and other related symptoms;
* safe deployment technologies that are based on fiber-optic spines, minimal wireless signalling, and both point of transmission and point of use focused interventions.

LANDKREIS WÜRZBURG "Wir wollen hier keine Monster" _ mit dieser Kampfansage wendet sich eine Interessengemeinschaft von Helmstädtern gegen geplante und bestehende Mobilfunkanlagen in Ortsnähe. Der Initiative gehört auch Hans Schmelzer an, der eine Häufung von 22 Krebsfällen nahe des Mobilfunkturms im Oberholz recherchiert hatte. Mittlerweile habe sich die Zahl erhöht: So seien in den letzten zehn Jahren 55 Krebsfälle belegbar.
Um mögliche Zusammenhänge mit der Mobilfunkstrahlung und den Kampf gegen solche Sendemasten ging es auf einer Informationsveranstaltung in Helmstadt. Über 400 Besucher aus dem ganzen Landkreis waren dazu in die TV-Turnhalle gekommen. Zu Wort kamen an diesem Abend ausschließlich Mobilfunkgegner: Der Baubiologe und Techniker Siegfried Zwerenz ist Vorsitzender der Bürgerwelle, des Dachverbandes für Initiativen gegen Elektrosmog. Mit Dr. Cornelia Waldmann-Selsam war zudem eine Unterzeichnerin des Bamberger Appells vertreten. Dabei handelt es sich um eine Gruppe von 130 Ärzten, die vor den Folgen der Strahlung warnen. Die Medizinerin bestätigte, dass Helmstadt mit den Krebsfällen nicht allein dasteht. In vielen anderen Orten wie Wörth bei Regensburg gebe es auffällige Krankheitshäufungen. Ablauf und Ergebnis blieben stets gleich: Auf Anrufe hin würden die Mediziner anreisen und ganze Straßenzüge vorfinden, in denen die Menschen krank sind. Man nehme die Fälle auf, leite sie an die Behörden weiter. Bisher hätten jedoch weder Gesundheitsämter noch Ministerien reagiert.
Doch Waldman-Selsam glaubt, dass sich das Blatt wendet: Immer öfter würden sich Bürger zusammenschließen und Mobilfunkbetreibern Paroli bieten. Wichtig sei es überregionale Kontakte herzustellen, um den Druck auf die Politik zu erhöhen. "Wir brauchen mutige Bürgermeister und Gesundheitsämter, die über eine einstweilige Verfügung die Anlagen abschalten." Wasser auf die Mühlen der Mobilfunkgegner geben auch aktuelle Pressemeldungen: So berichtete die Süddeutsche Zeitung über Studien in Nordeuropa, welche die Zunahme von Hirntumoren bei Handynutzern dokumentieren. Dabei muss es nicht immer Krebs sein: Nahe von Mobilfunktürmen beobachte man viele Symptome wie Kopfschmerzen, Schlafstörung oder Konzentrationsprobleme. "Aber nicht jeder reagiert sofort auf die gleiche Weise." Von einem Zusammenhang mit der Strahlung ist Waldmann-Selsam überzeugt. Man könne nicht ausgereifte rote Blutkörperchen und einen erhöhten Blutdruck bei den Patienten messen. Fahre man aus dem Strahlungsbereich hinaus, normalisiere sich das Ergebnis.
Laut dem Baubiologen Zwerenz sind nicht nur die Antennen das Problem: Auch Handys, kabellose Netzwerkverbindungen und schnurlose Telefone mit dem DECT-Standard senden digital gepulste Strahlung aus. Die staatlich festgelegten Grenzwerte würden aber nur thermische Auswirkungen berücksichtigen, also eine Gefährdung durch Erwärmung. Zwerenz behauptet zudem, dass einige Studien bereits eine Schädigung des Erbgutes durch gepulste Strahlung bewiesen hätten. Die Lobbyarbeit der Mobilfunkbetreiber habe jedoch bisher Reaktionen der überregionalen Medien und Politik verhindert. Auch konkrete Strategien gegen Sendemasten verriet Zwerenz: "Wenn sie nur noch wichtige Gespräche übers Handy führen, ist weniger Kapazität nötig." Dann werde Helmstadt als Senderstandort weniger interessant. Gegen den bestehenden Turm in Oberholz gehe man am besten über den Grundstücks-Pachtvertrag vor: Oft seien alte Verträge mit langen Laufzeiten und einseitigen Kündigungsfristen zu Gunsten des Mobilfunkbetreibers formuliert, die man als sittenwidrig anfechten könne.
Neue Antennen ließen sich über Regelungen im Flächennutzungs- und Bebauungsplan verzögern. Von Messungen hält Zwerenz nichts: "Die werden immer weit unter dem Grenzwert liegen." Doch was passiert, wenn die Helmstädter wirklich Erfolg haben? "Sie müssen dann natürlich auf einen gewissen Komfort verzichten. Man habe dann sicher nicht überall eine Verbindung, zudem würden moderne Anwendungen wie Musikdownloads übers Handy nicht funktionieren. Den Besuchern in der TV-Turnhalle schien dies akzeptabel. Das weitere Vorgehen der Interessengemeinschaft steht fest: Bis Ende März will sie weiter Öffentlichkeitsarbeit leisten und Unterschriften sammeln. Dann werde man das Gespräch mit dem Gemeinderat suchen.

Public Abstract
Breast cancer is characterized by a deterioration of the body's natural immune response and generalized immune suppression. Systemic suppression, associated with a poor prognosis, prevents tumor-bearing individuals from mounting an effective immune response against the growing tumor. This lack of immunity is the result of T and B cell dysfunction and the suppression of other key cells involved in the immune response. As a result of this immune dysfunction, many current cancer vaccine therapies are ineffective in breast cancer patients because these therapies rely on the patients' natural immune system to function effectively. The presence of systemic immune suppression in breast cancer patients is partly due to the presence of myeloid suppressor cells (MSCs), which are immature precursor cells that amass in the spleen and blood in proportion to tumor burden. MSCs are believed to suppress the immune system by secreting reactive species that induce immune dysfunction, preventing the patient from mounting an immune response against the growing tumor. Currently, the pathway and mechanisms behind the accumulation and suppressive functions of MSCs are poorly understood.
Inflammation, the body's localized tissue response to injury or trauma, is thought to promote the development and progression of breast cancer, potentially through the promotion of immune suppression. Interleukin 1beta (IL-1beta), a pro-inflammatory cytokine involved in the inflammatory response, has been implicated in the development of malignancies and is known to be expressed in breast cancer. Our preliminary studies associate immune suppression in breast cancer with the production of IL-1beta, indicating that inflammation is involved in the suppression of immunity. This study will examine the mechanisms by which inflammation and IL-1beta induce immune suppression in a breast cancer model.
We hypothesize that IL-1beta enhances immune suppression and inhibits natural immune surveillance against mammary tumors. Preliminary experiments using 4T1 mouse mammary carcinoma cells that have been engineered to secrete IL-1beta confirm that IL-1beta enhances cancer-associated immune suppression by promoting the accumulation of MSCs in tumor bearing mice. The proposed study will characterize the population of IL-1beta-induced MSCs in tumor-bearing mice and determine the mechanism by which IL-1beta promotes immune suppression through MSCs. To accomplish this goal, we will functionally characterize this subpopulation of MSCs and identify the target immune cells that are suppressed by the MSCs. We will determine how these immune target cells are inactivated and the mechanism by which IL-1beta induces MSC accumulation. To further examine the relevance of inflammation in the development and progression of mammary cancers, anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) will be administered to mice prior to tumor onset and the effect of reducing inflammation on immune suppression and mammary cancer will be determined.
Understanding the link between inflammation and immune suppression in breast cancer is essential for the development of cancer therapies. The mechanisms by which immune suppression is induced and maintained may be targeted in the development of therapies designed to circumvent this suppression and boost the body's natural tumor surveillance. The ability to prevent systemic immune suppression will enhance the efficacy of current cancer therapies in breast cancer patients. This study will be especially valuable in evaluating the role of inflammation in breast cancer by evaluating the effect of anti-inflammatory drugs in breast cancer and their potential use in the treatment of breast cancer.

I've compiled the simple explanations for leaflet distribution - since people seem to be so oblivious to the dangers this technology poses. Feel free to make leaflets and pass it around or just forward it to everyone you know. Teachers, especially give to your students - even the ones brain-dead from too much exposure to EMR. :)
