Premier hopes to allay cancer fears

The Premier, David Bartlett, is sending staff from the Education Department into Hobart's Hazelwood School to talk to teachers about their health concerns.

Since 1984 there have been at least 17 cases of cancer and other related illnesses among staff.

The figures were collated by a former staff member who was concerned there could be a possible cancer cluster linked to a nearby transmission tower and substation at the school.
