Delta residents are making one last try to gain power for the people -- and lose the overhead power lines.

About 2,000 people representing 60 interest groups came out to a community rally held at South Delta Secondary Saturday afternoon.

The demonstration, organized by Tsawwassen's Spirit of Delta citizen's group, was held in a last-ditch effort to get Premier Gordon Campbell to halt the controversial overhead high-voltage power line project that has residents fuming.

EAST MANATEE -- Many homeowners living in the Bridle Creek community at Panther Ridge have recently received warnings in their mailboxes regarding the potential health risks of living near high-voltage power lines.

Along with the anonymous warning is a form letter directed to Administrative Law Judge Bram Canter, the judge who will be recommending to the governor and cabinet the future location of the proposed 230-kilovolt Bobwhite-Mana- tee Transmission Line through Manatee and Sarasota counties.
