Phone mast fears grow as more locals suffer cancer

By Geraldine Gittens

Wednesday October 22 2008

RESIDENTS of a West Dublin housing estate, which lies next to a phone mast, are calling on the HSE to conduct a full health assessment in the area after an apparently large number of cancer diagnoses.

Neighbours in St Ronan's Gardens, Neilstown, and leaders of Mast Action Clondalkin (MAC) are continuing to voice their concerns about the mobile phone mast which stands in their local garda station.

"We did a survey of 150 houses and 38 people in those houses had cancer," says Gino Kelly, a member of MAC. "It's a very preliminary study but we went around and asked questions."

Cell Phones May be Wiping out Bees and Affecting Health of Humans

(NaturalNews)

Bee colonies are disappearing in worrying numbers across the globe. Beekeepers in America, the UK, Scotland, Germany Switzerland, Spain, Portugal and Greece are all seeing their hives vanish in worrying numbers.

Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) is when a hive's inhabitants suddenly disappear, leaving only queens, eggs and a few immature workers. Usually there is an obvious reason for the collapse, such as sickness or a predator attack. However, in this current epidemic, there doesn't seem to be a straight forward answer.

The strange thing about the next story is that I know persons who are electro hypersensitive, who do not use a cell phone, are not exposed to nickel, yet when they are sensing electro magnetic exposure above normal levels, they break out with the same type of rash. Doctors should not be so baffled. If they only learned to listen to their patients, they would realize that exposure to electro magnetic radiation causes dermatitis and a host of other illnesses.

LONDON - Doctors baffled by an unexplained rash on people's ears or cheeks should be on alert for a skin allergy caused by too much mobile phone use, the British Association of Dermatologists said on Thursday.

Citing published studies, the group said a red or itchy rash, known as "mobile phone dermatitis," affects people who develop an allergic reaction to the nickel surface on mobile phones after spending long periods of time on the devices.

"It is worth doctors bearing this condition in mind if they see a patient with a rash on the cheek or ear that cannot otherwise be explained," it said.

The British group said many doctors were unaware mobile phones could cause the condition.

Safety concerns over mobile phones have grown as more people rely on them for everyday communication, although the evidence to date has given the technology a clean bill of health when it comes to serious conditions like brain cancer.

"In mobile phone dermatitis, the rash would typically occur on the cheek or ear, depending on where the metal part of the phone comes into contact with the skin," the group said in a statement.

Time's green hero Dilawar Mohammed fights for the sparrow

October 7th, 2008 - 5:17 pm

ICT by IANS

Mumbai, Oct 7 (IANS) Dilawar Mohammed, one of the winners of Time magazine’s Heroes of the Environment-2008, is a crusader for the almost ignored bird - the common sparrow. He is almost single-handedly struggling to raise awareness about conserving the common sparrow, which he feels is facing a severe threat from humans.

Based in the heart of India’s wine country, Nashik, north-west Maharashtra, Dilawar, 28, tends to over 150 sparrows daily, giving them food and water to enable them survive, since he says the bird’s natural food resources are being eaten away by massive urbanization.

“The common sparrow is under attack from many quarters. Hundreds of trees and bushes are being cleared and replaced with monstrous buildings, open spaces are being concretized, hundreds of mobile phone communication towers are being erected in cities, towns and villages. All this has hugely affected the tiny sparrow,” Dilawar explained.
