EAST HANOVER TWP. – The township had a chance to make itself heard last Tuesday, June 30 as several township residents appeared before a panel from the state Board of Public Utilities hearing the application of Public Service Electric & Gas (PSE&G) to construct 500 Kilovolt (KV) lines through sections of New Jersey in what it calls the Susquehanna-Roseland project.

The final hearing and the only public session held by the BPU in Morris County was held June 30 at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum in Morris Township. More than 100 people were in attendance.

The BPU is expected to make a decision on the power line by December.

Of all communities affected by the plan, East Hanover claims it would be the most heavily affected by the path of the power lines because PSE&G intends to install a power substation on the banks of the Passaic River in a residential neighborhood between Fox Run Drive and Birchwood Court.

Parents and community members ought to consider the concerns being raised by some parents about a proposed cellular antenna site at Lindero Canyon Middle School, A.E. Wright and other Las Virgenes Unified School District school sites. Superintendent Zimring and the LVUSD board have scheduled an informational meeting to discuss this proposal at 6 p.m. Tues., July 14.

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors passed a motion introduced by supervisors Antonovich, Yaroslavsky and Ridley-Thomas on June 2 calling on the U.S. Congress and the Obama Administration to repeal Section 704 of the Federal Telecommunications Act of 1996 that preempts local control over health and other concerns when placing antennas. And in Europe this past April the European Parliament overwhelming passed an extensive EMF (electromagnetic field) resolution advising against the placement of antennas near schools.

Wieder einmal eine offizielle Stelle, die warnt: das amerikanische Nationale Institut für Wissenschaft und Politik (?) schrieb einen Bericht über die Gesundheitsrisiken der drahtlosen Technologie an Gouverneure, Kongressmitglieder und Präsident Obama und seine Verwaltung ebenso wie an Tausende von Journalisten für Gesundheits- und Umweltfragen. (Washington,30.6.09).

Aufgezählt werden: Mobiltelefone, Antennen in der Nachbarschaft, Drahtlos-Netzwerke, Funk-Router, DECT-Schnurlostelefone. Gesetzgeber und Journalisten sollen sich kundig machen über die gesundheitlichen Auswirkungen der Mikrowellenstrahlung dieser Anwendungen und die weitere chronische Exposition durch drahtlose Breitbandtechnik (z.B. WiMAX) und neue drahtlose Nutzanwendungen. Das Nationale Institut ermutigt alle, sich zu engagieren bei dieser wichtigen Angelegenheit für die öffentliche Gesundheit, die Erwachsene und Kinder sowie Tiere und die Natur belastet. Unter der Mitautorenschaft von Magda Havas, ass. Professorin für Umwelt- und Nachhaltigkeits-(?)Studien an der Universität von Trent, Canada, und Camilla Rees, Gründerin von http://www.ElectromagneticHealth.org , gibt "SOS der öffentlichen Gesundheit: Die Schattenseite der drahtlosen Revolution" einen Überblick über die unabhängigen wissenschaftlichen Forschungen zu Gesundheitsrisiken der Funkstrahlung und gibt Empfehlungen, wie die Öffentlichkeit sicherer leben kann in einer drahtlosen Welt.... In Deutschland die Verurteilung des Verhaltens der Atomindustrie durch unseren Gabriel- mag ihn mal wieder jemand stupfen in Richtung Mobilfunk?? Auch hier Lug und Trug über Jahre hinweg!

Ich kann nur immer wieder den Satz von Albert Schweitzer zitieren: dass das Volk auf die Straße gehen muss... Damals (1959) ging es um die Atomwaffenversuche. Solange es aber noch Mitkämpfer gibt, die öffentlich oder heimlich ihr Handy aus der Tasche holen, machen wir auf die Handy-Süchtigen nicht so viel Eindruck.
