I would like to inform about the incidence increase of central nervous system (CNS) tumors in Sweden. In a letter to the Editor of Pathophysiology I noticed that brain cancer has been increasing most in the more sparsely populated regions of Sweden, while the rest of the CNS tumors have increased most in the more densely populated regions. It is known that the output power from mobile phones is larger in sparsely populated areas due to longer average distances to base stations.

Bruce Hocking, a specialist in occupational medicine, presented a seminar entitled EMF Hypersensitivity for the World Health Organization. In his presentation, he defines and discusses diagnosing electromagnetic field (EMF) sensitivity. He then discusses four case studies, two of whom he completes challenge tests and confirms a diagnosis of EMF sensitivity and two of whom he did not complete a challenge test on, as he decided those two patients did not have EMF sensitivity, but rather a psychiatric disorder based on their prior case histories of such.

Das BfS fordert bereits seit Jahren, dass besonders strahlungsarme Handys mit einem SAR-Wert unter 0,6 W / kg mit dem Blauen Engel ausgezeichnet werden. An der jetzt erfolgten Vergabe des ersten Blauen Engels für ein strahlungsarmes Handy bemängelt das BfS allerdings, dass damit ein Handy ausgezeichnet wird, das sich explizit an die Zielgruppe Kinder richtet und dessen SAR-Wert nur knapp unter 0,6 W / kg liegt. Das BfS ist der Auffassung, dass es Hinweise in der wissenschaftlichen Literatur über ein Risikopotential gibt, dessen Existenz und Größe bisher nicht quantifiziert werden kann. Diese Situation berücksichtigend setzt sich das BfS in Übereinstimmung mit nationalen und einigen internationalen Strahlenschutzgremien für Expositionsminimierung bei Kindern und Jugendlichen ein.
