Airport To Tag Passengers With RFID

http://yro.slashdot.org/yro/06/10/14/0334222.shtml

Spychips RFID Blog:

Posted by kdawson on Saturday October 14, @07:45AM
from the say-baaaaa dept.

denebian devil writes "A new technology is to be trialled in Debrecen Airport in Hungary that will involve tagging all passengers with high-powered RFID tags. From the Register article: 'People will be told to wear radio tags round their necks when they get to the airport. The tag would notify a computer system of their identity and whereabouts. The system would then track their activities in the airport using a network of high definition cameras. "[The tags] have got a long range, of 10m to 20m," said Dr. Paul Brennan of University College London's antennas and radar group which developed the tags, "and the system has been designed so the tag can be located to within a meter, and it can locate thousands of tags in one area at a given time."' The system is being touted for 'Improving airport efficiency, security and passenger flow by enhanced passenger monitoring.' BBC is also reporting this story, and brings up such hurdles to the project as 'finding a way of ensuring the tags cannot be switched between passengers or removed without notification.' As for any mention of the 'hurdle' of people's rights, the article vaguely and briefly states that 'The issue of infringement of civil liberties will also be key,' but doesn't bother to go into any pesky details."

The highly dangerous mobile phone - Livsfarliga mobiltelefonen

For those of you that can read and understand Swedish, or get automatic translations, please note the following brand new article:

Johansson O, "Livsfarliga mobiltelefonen" (="The highly dangerous mobile phone", in Swedish), Västerbottens-Kuriren 2006-10-14
http://www.vk.se/Article.jsp?article=83313

N.B. My recent article, Johansson O, "Livsfarliga mobiltelefonen" (="The highly dangerous mobile phone", in Swedish), i.a. dealing with the Benevento-resolution, has now also been published in the Swedish weekly newspaper "Miljömagasinet" [2006, no. 44, p. 14].

Yet another Swedish newspaper has published my commentary about i.a. the Benevento-resolution:

(="Why are no money given to research about the connection between cancer and all our modern gadgets?", in Swedish), Barometern/Oskarshamns-Tidningen, 2006-11-09 http://www.barometern.se/article/1153578_126-0-0-0

A higher risk of childhood leukemia, particularly of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), was linked to high magnetic field (MF) exposure

http://www.buergerwelle.de/pdf/rocky_mt_marrow_transplant_program_re_emfs.htm

--------

Dear Olle: I found this interesting information regarding the MTHFR C677T gene in regard to Leukemia.

http://rockymountainbmt.com/news/The-risk-of-childhood-acute-lymphoblastic-leukemia-ALL-was-linked-to-methyletetrahydrofolate-reductase-MTHFR-C677T-polymorphism-in-Greek-patients-5315.html

This may be a duplicate of what I recently sent. In any case, not necessary to respond, etc.

The mutation (homogenous thermolabile form - MTHFR C677T) was identified in Bud when we both went for the methacholine challenge at the University of Minnesota Oncology Lab (saw a Hematologist) in order to determine our homocysteine levels. Indications for both of us are that the levels were considered to be normal primarily because were were both taking B-vitamins and folic acid.

I called the University geneticist and he told me it wasn't necessary to have our children be checked for the mutation. I was very surprised!! He basically acted like "no big deal -- forget about it.......!!!!

Now, I know that he knew EMF's were probably the explanation (the mutation appears to be linked to chemotherapy -- or "toxic exposures) and he didn't want to get involved in the EMF issue. I naturally brought up the subject of the two high voltage powerlines only 50 ft. from the front of our house.

I really knew better at the time this happened but didn't know what to do about it. Now I am thinking of writing to the National Institute of Health to at least get this documented from my end and to also send copies to the geneticist himself as well as an administrator of the University.

Take care - Joanne
