Salt River Project's plan to build a neighborhood power station next to a charter school in Gilbert has generated a growing protest among parents of its 1,250 students.
Despite SRP's assurances that the station poses no threat, parents and administrators at Edu-Prize Charter School contend it could harm students.
They also contend they have a greater say over what goes on in the neighborhood because the school has been at its location, near Baseline and Cooper roads, for 12 years. SRP acquired an adjacent lot last year.
