The Children's Wireless protection Act, unanimous vote, Oct. 15th, introduced as emergency legislation in the state of Maine
Dearest Media,
I wanted to let you know that a momentous thing happened in the state of Maine yesterday, Oct. 15h...A bill, The Children's Wireless Protection Act, calling for warning labels on cell phones for children and pregnant women, was voted in UNANIMOUSLY, by both Democrat and Republicans, as emergency legislation to be introduced in the state of Maine. This means it now goes to committee (we think Health and Human Services but not sure yet) and then to the full legislative body for a final vote in early 2010.
The legislator who introduced the bill is Andrea Boland. Her # is (207) 324-4459 and her email is sixwings@metrocast.net .
I authored the bill and have posted the list of doctors who have endorsed it on my website, http://www.thepeoplesinitiative.org. My # is (310) 828-6808. (Website hasn't been updated in a long time as I've been very busy working on a documentary film on this subject.)
Another person who has helped us tremendously is Lloyd Morgan, the primary author of the recent Cell Phones and Brain Tumors, 15 Reasons for Concern paper. He can be reached at (510) 841-4362.
We all relentlessly called, emailed and Andrea made personal visits to legislators to ensure the passage of this emergency bill.
Thank you for your care and excellent reporting in this matter of grave concern to us all and for sharing in this moment of victory with us.
Any remarks from U.S readers? It is published in an economic newspaper in Israel. This is quite something, isn't it?

Maine Bill to Mandate Cell-Phone Warning Labels
Posted by: Olga Kharif on October 16
Early next year, Maine Rep. Andrea Boland plans to introduce a bill that would require all cell phones and their packaging to carry a warning label, advising children and pregnant women to keep the device away from their heads and bodies.
On Oct. 15, Maine’s House and Senate voted to approve the bill for consideration during next year’s session.
The attached submission to Dr Emilie van Deventer of the WHO's International EMF Project was emailed, faxed and sent by courier to them, it was signed for this morning. This is an extract of the DHL tracking log:

I have not been able to obtain any acknowledgement of receipt, or any communication whatsoever from any WHO office, despite many attempts. But this is now an "open letter".
Some research finds cell damage, reduced fertility, lack of blood flow to brain.
French health agencies, in a precautionary move, recommended on Thursday reducing exposure to mobile phones and other portable wireless devices that emit radio-frequency electromagnetic waves.
Le Monde's editorialist (French Translation: Leslie Thatcher): "Is cell phone usage dangerous to health? Worrying public health signals already exist, absent irrefutable proof. Do mobile phone relay tower antennae cause disturbances? Mapping the dark spots where the density of their emissions is worrying would, in any event, be worth the effort. In the face of the official report and the 'uncertainties' it reveals, the experts at the French Agency for Health, Environmental and Workplace Security have opted for caution: they recommend research be continued and that, as of now, 'the public's exposure to radiofrequencies be reduced.'"
