When Delia Mills's husband Larry developed a lump in the crick of his neck, the couple were convinced they knew why.

As a BT engineer in the 1990s, Larry was issued with a mobile phone before they were available to most people.
As he spent most of his working day with both hands on cables in junction boxes, Larry's mobile was almost permanently jammed between his jaw and his shoulder.
"You could see a lump exactly where he held the phone," Mrs Mills said. "It started like a grape and swelled to the size of a grapefruit".
