National Mobilization Against Torture

Tomorrow marks one year since the pictures emerged from Abu Ghraib that shocked and horrified US citizens and people around the world.

During the past year, concerns have only intensified over the ever-increasing number of torture related allegations by people held in US custody. Through government memos, official and unofficial policies and direct action, the US government has contributed to the denigration of human rights standards and the rule of law.

We need your help to counter this alarming roll back of established fundamental human rights. Amnesty International USA is launching a major grassroots mobilization initiative, "Denounce Torture: Stop It Now!", to take action and raise awareness in communities across the nation to eradicate the use of torture worldwide.
