A young woman with electrosensitivity has asked to be moved to the Peninsula

Jesus Andújar

Last Update 02/06/2009 @ 02:12:10 GMT +1

Since two years Sonia Hernandez, a melillense who is 34 years, lives almost cloistered, locked in her room, avoiding any source of electricity, or radiation (mobile phones, televisions, lamps, etc.). Because she's electrosensitive. Any electromagnetic field that is close causes unbearable pain and burning sensation inside her body. Her family, because she was not diagnosed in Melilla, requests for assistance to be transferred to any center of the peninsula where she can be treated.

In her place there is no electricity. The plugs have been stopped. The bulbs have been removed as well. No computer, TV, radio or mobile phone. Even she can't bear the smell of candles, or the perfumes or cleaning products. Her life in the last two years, is limited almost exclusively to her bedroom.

Help

Sonia Hernandez sometimes goes out in the street, walking along the beach because the sand, as she has been recommended by doctors, helps to discharge static electricity accumulated by the body. But when she is near a person with a mobile phone or any source that produces electromagnetic or vibration, she must return quickly to the house... "Even she puts water on her face because that seems to calm inside," says her uncle, José Cerdá.

Sonia Hernandez has come to the emergency service several times for her problems, with vomiting and metrorrhagia and blood in stool, and is currently undergoing treatment, but has not yet been diagnosed. Her doctors can not say if she has "multiple chemical syndrome. But the advices and recommendations don't help this woman who is condemned to a life of isolation. That is why she and her family, are asking for help to the authorities to be sent to the Peninsula and there, in centers with greater expertise in this and other diseases are considered rare, to obtain the final aid enabling her to have a normal life.
