VCS finds Alberto Gonzales' answers to Senator Arlen Specter to be evasive and non-responsive. Gonzales avoided answering honestly and fully the Senators' repeated questions about torture. When asked if President George Bush has the legal authority to order or to allow U.S. to torture prisoners, Gonzales didn't answer. The issue is clear and it must be answered: Does the U.S. use torture or do we condemn torture? Do we live by the law, or are we lawless? VCS urges you to contact your Senator now and demand that Gonzales answer the question about Bush and torture.
