Harriet Miers has become the new Hurricane Katrina; exposing the unpleasant underbelly of division between the three basic conservative factions: fiscal, social and broad spectrum. Some of the broad spectrum talk- show celebrity conservatives are trying sincerely bury the hatchet. Others, though, say they are burying it, only to come back a short while later to attack the President’s pick yet again. That, in my humble opinion, is an overt attack on social conservatives. While social conservatives here in Canada have been all but wiped out, in the United States the status of social conservatives has plateaued at the unwanted in-law level. If we have something those in power can use, fine -- but otherwise we are to stay out of sight...
