Accra, Aug. 20, GNA - The skyline of Accra and other major cities in Ghana is dominated by telecommunication masts of various sizes and colours. Some have red warning lights while a few others flash daylight beams at night.

The truth about these masts is that those living near them are killing themselves softly, no matter how much companies providing mobile telephone services tried to downplay the negative effects of these electromagnetic killing machines. These masts emit non-ionizing radiation that is dangerous to human beings.

I am a property owner within 100 feet of CTC’s proposed cell tower. I object to this conditional use permit on the grounds of solid scientific evidence of health harm from proximity to cell tower base stations.

At the June 9 Planning and Zoning Commission meeting about a conditional use permit for GCI’s proposed cell towers and antennae, chairman Tom Bailer attempted to exclude testimony on harm to health as basis to object to cell tower locations.
